MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL

Well here it is 5 days till Christmas and man I am tired . I think I am all ready I hope you are . I have a great novella for your Christmas reading through the holidays . DEAD JOLLY ( A Grim Reality novella ) by Boone Brux

                           BOOK BLURB

The holidays are here, and I’m up to my eyeballs in Christmas spirit—or should I say “spirits”. Life is like that now that I’m a grim reaper.

My holidays gets an extra helping of festive weirdness when the Casanova of mall Santas kicks the bucket. Instead of crossing over, he sets out to spread his own special brand of Christmas magic to a number of single ladies in town.
I’ll admit, as a widow I’m hesitant to stop him from gifting his Christmas miracle, but as a reaper, it’s my job to pack his yule log and jingle bells off to the netherworld.

After all, everybody knows Santa is only supposed to come once a year.

                           MY REVIEW

What do you do when you are in the middle of Christmas preparations and your job gets in the way .  When the Casanova Santa from the mall decides to kick the bucket . Lisa and Nate are put to the test trying to reap his soul. Between trying to get Christmas ready and reaping Santa's butt is really getting to them . They need to have some Christmas joy  and a merry Christmas .
Lisa and Nate are back . I must say I have actually missed these characters . Lisa is still as sassy and crass as ever . She is really getting into the reaping business and parenting . Nate is still sweet and well lets just say he is still hot . Then we meet Fred the randy dandy mall Santa that they have to reap. He is a laugh riot, and just wants to keep up his Christmas joy giving . The ladies of Alaska are in for a shock a good one but still a shock .  These characters will have you in stitches from laughing so hard .
I needed a great  laugh this holiday season so I sat down and started reading this novella with a glass of wine . I have never laughed so hard in my life , between Christmas and reaping poor Lisa did have her hands full .  The story is a great addition to the GRIM REALITY series and shows a fun side of the two main characters . I recommend this book for  those who need a great laugh during the holidays . It is a fun fast read that will give you a taste of the series . You don't have to read the other books to understand what is going on in this story . So if you want a fun read for those stolen holiday moments check it out .

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

In 6th Grade when I wrote my first soap opera. It was something for fun to have my friend’s read during recess. It was solidified the same year when I wrote a book of poetry for an art project and it won an award.

How long does it take you to write a book?

For my novella it took three months.

What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

Mainly at night, sometimes between 2-4 hours per night.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I like building dialogue where physical altercations follow afterwards. 1980s' Dynasty was excellent in that regard.

How do your books get published?

My debut novella HaUNTED is published independently through Southern Owl Publications.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

Research for medical and police based dialogue, the news and scenarios that I concoct in my head.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

10 years old.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I love watching horror movies. Cam and Pooka are on my watch list as a must see. Collecting vinyl, music is such a vital part of my life. Baking, hiking, playing really bad pool, collecting and reading graphic novels and comic books.

What does your family think of your writing?

When my mother threw away my soap operas when I was younger I did bother to share with her anymore. Fast forward to 2018 and she asked if she could read HaUNTED and she really liked it. My niece enjoyed the book as well, along with my boyfriend who promotes it every chance he gets.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

That I can be as descriptive and intense as I want.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

HaUNTED is my first and my favorite, naturally.

Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Be yourself. Create characters and stories of your choosing. Every writers approach to drafting the story will be different. Some like to outline, others may work on the characters essence. Dedicate to write even if it is an hour a day. Make your area where you write a haven that you want to come to until the book is completed.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

Sometimes, most post their reviews online. One reader said they really enjoyed the story and did not put the book down until finished. Others want a sequel.

Do you like to create books for adults?

Yes. The subject matter in my books are adult themed.

What do you think makes a good story?

The plot, tone, characters, and the overall universe the story is in.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

Become an actor, which I did.

Any books in the works?

Yes. It will be the second book to HaUNTED. Not necessarily a sequel however, it introduces a character that is mentioned in HaUNTED.

What are your plans for the future?

Staying focused on the present, one day at a time, as I have a lot planned.

               HaUNTED: A Novella

WELCOME TO THURSDAY

Good Thursday all I must say it is 19 days to Christmas and I have a great book for your teens . The debut novel  THE DARK AWAKENING ( The Chosen Coven series book one ) by D.L Blade

                            BOOK BLURB

‘This reminds me of how broken I am, every single day when I wake up and see it in the mirror. It’s a scar that will never go away.’

East Greenwich may be a small town, but it is riddled with secrets. Mercy knows this more than most – she still suffers from the scars. The trauma from the ultimate betrayal has caused her to keep her distance from everyone she holds dear. A stranger who lingers in her subconscious seems to be the exception to the rule. His comfort is a refreshing distraction from her tormented fears.

‘I won’t lose you again.’

Unbeknownst to her; the past is weaving its dark web, waiting to strike. Upon a startling car accident, Mercy is shocked to find that her enigmatic mystery man, Caleb, is real – and she belongs to him. He reveals that Mercy’s family is strongly linked to an ancient coven; the roots slowly dragging her back to Salem again.

There may be a spark between Mercy and Caleb, but she is torn between wanting to kiss him – and running from him. Evil forces are awakening, growing bloodthirsty as the days and nights pass. Mercy must Awaken the dormant powers inside her, tackle the lies, betrayal, and blood-drenched past lives rotating around her in never-ending cycles. Can she bear the burden? Will she find it in herself to trust Caleb despite the shadowy past?

To slay a monster; you might need to become a monster.

                            MY REVIEW
Welcome to East Greenwich a town where the town is riddled with secrets . Mercy is surviving after being attacked by her mother and almost dying . Where a mysterious man is on the fringe keeping her safe . After Mercy is in a horrible accident her mystery man saves her and changes her life and finally sets straight the dreams that Mercy has . But when she finds out her past she has to work through the lies . betrayal and the evil forces that are trying to take her and kill her . Will they survive .
For a debut novel I will say the characters are well written and are beginning to be complex.   Mercy is a typical teenager who just graduated and is turning eighteen. But there is more to Mercy and as you read you watch her grow and become a strong kick butt character . She has a tough time figuring out who her friends are after she finds out she is a witch and vampire hunter. Now Caleb well there is something about him that you just don't trust . He is cute arrogant and so mysterious . You really want to club him every now and then . There is a reason why he is like this and we find out more about him as you read into the story. We also meet Mercy's friends who keep her grounded more and more . I love Riley he has been through so much but is there for Mercy when she really needs him . You will like him too and want to wrap him up in a blanket and hug him tight .
This debut novel takes us on an adventure ride that will keep you turning the pages . I truly enjoyed this book and loved all the characters . But I did feel that the first part of the book dragged just a little with lots of info and it did take a little bit to really get into the book and the characters . Over all that didn't take away from the story line at all . I got swept away at the last part and it moved really fast . I will say there is a cliff hanger at the end of the book and you will shed a tear at what her and Caleb do go through and what she did to keep herself and everyone else safe . You will enjoy this book as much as your teen will . So if you want an enjoyable story of witches, vampires and yes there are werewolves in this story as well . Check out Mercy and her make shift coven and see what happens . A great story for your Christmas present list . You will not be disappointed .

WELCOME TO WEDNESDAY

Wow its already December 5 and 20 days till Christmas. I have a great series for you this Christmas . Today we are going to review the second book in the web of sin series . LIES by Aleatha Romig

                             BOOK BLURB

The twisted and intriguing storytelling that you loved in Consequences and Infidelity continues with an all-new alpha anti-hero in the dark romance series Web of Sin, by New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig.

I am...

That’s no longer an easy statement.

Who am I?

Since Sterling Sparrow, a man so handsome he takes my breath away and so infuriating he pushes me in ways I’ve never known, came barreling into my life like a category five hurricane, I can’t even finish that simple statement.

In twenty-six years I’ve lived three lives—been three different people.

Renee. Kennedy. And now, Araneae.

They say that I was named after the spider to make me resilient.

Sparrow would then be a bird.

Birds eat spiders.

I prefer to consider myself a cat. It ups my chance of surviving the world I’m now living.

Maybe that’s only wishful thinking because according to Sterling, my number of lives is running out.

There are people who want to harm me, to learn the secrets they claim that I possess.

The only person to offer me protection is Sterling Sparrow.

Can I trust a man who willingly put me in the sight of danger?

What is real?

What are lies?

Have you been Aleatha’d?

Lies is book two of the Web of Sin trilogy.

                            MY REVIEW
After getting a shock at the end of book one . We start right where we left off in book one . Araneae has had the shock of her life and now her life is in danger even more . The only man that can protect her is the man who really can't be trusted . Sterling Sparrow a man who is more of a mystery . There is secrets that people want from Araneae have her in danger and Sterling is trying to keep her safe but there are so many things that can put her in the line of danger . Will they be able to keep her safe and will their budding love keep them alive .
These characters just keep getting better and better . Sterling well I am really beginning to like him. He is still a little on the non trustworthy side but the more you read him . He becomes more and more likeable . He is such an alpha , strong and oh so sexy you will love to hate him . Araneae is really starting to become a force in his life . She is a fighter even though she really doesn't know what is going on sometimes . She is the perfect match for Sterling . We also get insight into Araneae's real mother and what happened when she was born . You really just want to hug both of them and tell them everything will be ok . We also get to meet the rest of Sterling's group of men . We find out a bit more of what is going on .
This book starts right where the first book left off. I sat down and read this book in an evening . I couldn't put it down , I got sucked in and loved every second of Sterling and Araneae. The author takes these characters and basically puts them through the wringer and then leaves us trying to fix them . She really takes us on a roller coaster ride. The best part of the book is watching the interaction between the two main characters . They are made for each other . I truly enjoyed this book , we get so much great story in this book. Even the backstory of what really happened to Araneae on the day of her birth.  I will say when you start to read this book have a box of tissues an snuggly blanket and a glass of wine with you cause ladies you will need all three .  I will warn you there is a cliff hanger at the end of this book . So check out this series and get them for your Christmas treat .
