SECOND BOOK IS CHANGES IN DEGREES

BOOK BLURB
After the death of her husband in an accident that left her with a permanent disability, Sarah's existence becomes a little less mundane when two men enter her sights during different stages of her life. One a man of mystery who waltzes in and out of her life, and one from fiction-come-reality who doesn't hide his feelings for her. Both vastly different yet both predators and she is attracted to them both. However, each of the men bring their own challenges into her life and to her beliefs. Whom will she choose as each, in their own ways, bring changes in degrees?

I am just starting this one. Can't wait to read

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

                    CHAPTER 1

"Funny thing about changes happening in one's life is you never know if it's going to be good or bad until it happens. Can't say, at the age of 23, that I've had any good changes lately, not that there's much I can do about it. Once given, the changes can't be returned like an unwanted gift, there will always be losses and/or revelations accompanying those changes. All one can do is the best with what one is dealt with." - Sarah
"Changes. One may not have a choice in receiving them, but they can be anything one makes of them and this particular one was certainly interesting. It may not have started out that way during those first few moments, and I while may have fought against it, but it certainly became interesting." - Kaelan
It was a sunny and brisk winter's day and it was a perfect day to play now that he and his men were on leave. While the kiosk was playing some music which barely registered to him, he was leaning against the Jeep waiting for the rest of his players to turn up. He surveyed the area, sizing up the various people who came to play: the wannabes - more danger to themselves than to anyone else, the possible threats who obviously knew enough to hit only their intended targets and not everything else, and the kids wanting to have fun. However, pretty much all of them ignorable. Until.
He first saw her at the paintball range as she hobbled from the ladies rest room and everything else around him was momentarily forgotten. He watched her walk towards him, her head down with the occasional glance up as if to make sure she was on track to her destination.
A slightly overweight young woman, standing 156cm tall, in her mid to late teens - early twenties maybe - leant heavily on her darkly painted metal adjustable walking stick. Then she slowly veered to her right towards the picnic tables. She was dressed in a navy blue simple heavy cotton dress with little purple and red flowers and black open toed slip on shoes.
'Her feet must be freezing.' The trivial thought caught him by surprise. Deciding to ignore the thought, he continued his inspection of her
Her dull dark brown hair was tied back away from her face with a thin layer acting as a wispy fringe partially covering her forehead. Even though her hair was tied back he could see it was long, past her shoulder blades. Despite its length there didn't seem to be much of it, as in not thick. The one thing which saved her hair from being bland, in his opinion, was the faint red highlights that shimmered occasionally in the sunlight as she walked.
.
Regardless of her weight and dull looking hair, her face was cute in a plain sort of way even though it was etched with pain at that point in time. She wore no makeup as if, maybe, she didn't care about how people perceived her and, strangely for him, it added a level of attractiveness to her. He hadn't realised that could attract his attention.
Letting his eyes travel slowly down her body - while he could see she was over-weight the dress fitted her well and showed off the potential for a reasonable figure - he noted her left hand clenched, emphasising the pain he was seeing in her face. Then, he continued down her legs to her feet.
'There's the problem. She's obviously been in an accident of some sort, maybe recently. Her feet don't sit flat anymore.'
However, while she was wearing shoes, he realised one would have to really look at her feet to notice the problem with them. He noted the weight seemed to be on her heels and on the outer side edges of her feet, and that they turned in slightly. A few of the toes on her right foot were partially clawed and it looked to be permanent.
He continued watching. Noting the way she walked with the walking stick suggested her left ankle was worse than her right. Her right leg carried most of her weight as she walked even though she tried adjusting her weight distribution every now and then. Her knee bending and foot lifting were exaggerated as she walked, her feet barely moved in relation to her legs compared to the average person.
In checking her over, he realised she was no threat. She was out of condition - the effort of walking from the ladies to her destination left her sweating despite being winter. Disabled and definitely feminine in her ways, she looked like she didn't know how to fight back. The young woman was a victim, not a predator. With that assessment he had every intention of dismissing her from mind and sight, but.
Watching her, she joined five other people at one of the tables nearby. He had just started to look away when their eyes locked briefly. Her hand paused in mid motion of taking her drink to her lips. Her lips, minutely parted, were a little pale but looked rather nice with a noticeable cupid's bow on her upper lip. Now she was close enough he could see them better. Then he noticed the flush creeping across her cheeks.
The six of them were sitting at a table near the kiosk, just an open shed serving basic food and drink with a few picnic tables and bench seats, when she saw him and held her breath. She couldn't stop staring at him. As far as she was concerned the clear cool June winter's day had just become a little warmer for her. As if it was planned, to her way of thinking, out of the speakers of the kiosk played the song 'Breathless' by The Corrs, and that was the effect he had on her when she caught sight of him.
Judging his height against the white Jeep Grand Cherokee at his back, which he was leaning against, she guessed he was over 185cm tall, give or take a centimetre or more. Unfortunately, judging height and distance weren't her strong points. His skin seemed like it could be naturally fair, but appeared to be lightly tanned. His sandy brown hair, with gingery highlights, was short cropped with it slightly longer over the forehead, but not too long as to get into his eyes.

A LITTLE ABOUT THIS COOL AUTHOR
Back in 1967 KC was born on the morning of a black Monday on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She is the eldest of two brothers and two half brothers, and her parents were (before retiring) typical Aussie hard workers. KC is the first to admit that her life growing up was nothing special with the usual ups and downs but can claim she never broke a bone in her body until she was 34 years old. She had the usual pets of cats, dogs and budgies, but can’t recall any fish. While a lover of all animals (except annoyingly yappy small dogs, she laughingly comments), she especially loves german sheppards, samoyed, wolves and the majority of the cats large and small.
Apart from her love of animals, the one thing she does remember – and still a large part of her life today – is her love of books. She still has her copies of ‘Dot and the Kangaroo’ and ‘Snugglepot and Cuddlepie’ she had received between the ages of 5 and 9. These days KC limits her buying of books due to so many of her favourites being part of a series. She hasn’t been that successful. Much to her amused annoyance.

HAPPY HUMP DAY ALL

Hey everyone how are you guys today. I am so busy reading and writing watching the clouds roll in again. So I was feeling like a old fashion romance yesterday. Not a graphic erotic book but an old fashion romance. So I found HER MAD HATTER by Marie Hall.

BOOK BLURB
Alice is all grown up. Running the Mad Hatter's Cupcakery and Tea Shoppe is a delicious job, until fate--and a fairy godmother with a weakness for bad boys--throws her a curveball. Now, Alice is the newest resident of Wonderland, where the Mad Hatter fuels her fantasies and thrills her body with his dark touch.

The Mad Hatter may have a voice and a body made for sex, but he takes no lovers. Ever. But a determined fairy godmother has forced Alice into Wonderland--and his arms. Now, as desire and madness converge, the Hatter must decide if he will fight the fairy godmother's mating--or fight for Alice.

Long length Novella ~ Approx. 40k words. Additional pages are sneak peeks to future books!

This is not erotica, just a good old fashioned romance.

MY REVIEW
Seeing as I am actually kind a getting tired of all the cookie cutter erotica out there right now. I decided to look for an old fashion love story. Where the people are hurting but truly honestly love each other and want to be together. So was going through my tbr list and found this book .
It is a fractured fairy tale told from the bad boy's view. But these bad boys aren't your typical bad boys. They are men who are the villains in the story.
Let me introduce you to Hatter from wonderland. He is tall dark and kind a insane. Wonderland has taken its toll on him. Danika, his fairy godmother, yes the bad boys have god mothers also. Has found his mate but she is the great granddaughter of the woman who broke his heart. As Danika drops Alice off in wonderland she has three days to get the Hatter to see her for who she is and not the reflection of her great grandmother.
Will they ever get together or will they end up apart .
This is the first novella I have read from Marie Hill and what can I say. I actually loved it. There was sex but not graphic like in some books out. The twists and turns were great , you could feel each of them fighting with their inner thoughts and desires. Alice was a great character she was strong and fiercely protective of her Hatter. She knows she loves him from the first moment that she read about him. She is tough and sweet all at the same time.  Hatter knows he loves his Alice but he needs to accept her so wonderland will accept her
The story is amazing cause it is so sweet and loving. It is such a nice breathe of fresh air from all the brooding alpha males that want women to bend to what they want. The author just is so loving when she writes about her characters and her story lines. Who knew that fairy tales could be so much more then the good guys getting the girl. The bad boys get a chance now at love and finding their one true loves. Can't wait to read the rest of the series . We get to see the wolf find his red and so on . So if you want a sweet summer read grab this novella , its free or f you want the boxed set of the first three stories it is also free right now. So check them our on amazon. This will make a great summer read .

welcome to episode 2 in the night shade series

Good Tuesday everyone . I want to welcome you to your weekly installment of the Night Shade series . Today's episode in entitled EXOTICA

BOOK BLURB
Bodies wash up on the Silver City beach all the time, but this one is different. Detective Geraldine Meyers is hot on the case, with help from medical examiner Dr. Rachel Hunter and anthropologist Dr. Kinsey DanAllart, uncovering the truth behind deaths at a popular new nightclub. Will they deduce a logical explanation for the murders? Or will the three friends uncover a deeper conspiracy hiding the truth about what's stalking their city's streets?

 MY REVIEW

Welcome back t Silver City. Where the weird just gets weirder and the girls are back. Gerri is hot on another case of a body washed up on the shores. Rachel is ther examining the body trying to figure out what is going on. Along with Kinsey. They are called to a popular new nightclub called EXOTICA. Where they are looking for an explanation of the body count that seems to be rising as they speak. They are also trying to find who is selling the new deadly drug aptly named viper.
As they work  things get weirder and weirder.
Patti has done it again in episode 2. We meet a couple of new characters in this episode. Cici, Gerri's shrink, but I believe there is more to Cici and she is going to be very useful to Gerri when she realizes there is more to her . Then there is Julian Black and Simone.  There is something very sinister with these two. Especially Simone . She has taken a interest to Dr. Kinsey. I hope that it turns out good not bad. The characters are getting better and better. The girls are becoming more and more complex as they grow. Patti is taking us on such an adventure. There is a cliff hanger in this book but holy what a cliff hanger and I am thanking the gods that I only have to wait till next Friday to get another fix.
Patti has written these books like you are watching a tv series. I am so liking this concept, She does it so well. The twists and turns  keep you reading, The best scene so far I love it when Gerri finally turned around and just pummeled her partner. Who which I will tell you is a leech and a pervert in my opinion. I am thinking the only woman he hasn't hit on is Kinsey cause she is a civilian.
These books are starting to be my favorite summer indulgence. I curled up on my lounger the other day with an iced coffee and just started reading. Nothing would stop me from finishing the book. The action is great and the characters are driven and complex but yet easy to relate to .
So if you are thinking of looking for a summer read . I say check out the NIGHT SHADE CASES . I will say you will not be disappointed at all. They rock

HAPPY SUNDAY ALL IT IS COVER REVEAL DAY

Hey all good Sunday to you all. Today we are going to do a cover reveal for J. Lee Roberts. So without further adieu here it is CATALINA QUEEN OF THE NIGHTLINGS  volume 1

BOOK BLURB

“I’m not your average monster. In the past, I have toppled, liberated, and even ruled kingdoms. Believe me, I’m over that lifestyle. My motto is, ‘Learn from the past; love in the present’.

“By day, I’m Catalina Purdy, proprietor of Purdy Antiques. By night, under cover of dark
“I enjoy; long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, easy men, and feasting off the chemicals they produce when sexually aroused.
ness, I expose my true nature.
“I also love my job. I am eternally thirsty for the chance to hunt down rare, exotic pieces. However, I’m not hard to please, I’ll take any piece I can get, and I always get what I want.”
Reader Advisory: Be forewarned, the story within, contains X-rated tales of Nightlings, naughty escapades.
EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK
Excerpt:  Now, I know exactly what you’re thinking, “Not another vampire.” Yes, all the signs are there, but I adamantly refute the title. I am a Nightling. Not any insignificant Nightling though. I am Catalina, Queen of the Nightlings. Still confused? It’s easy to understand why. Fangs, bloodsucking, power, and ageless beauty. Yes, I possess all the telltale signs of your classic vamp. Alas, I am not one of those adrenaline-sucking egomaniacs.

So, what exactly is a Nightling, you ask? Over the centuries we have been called many names. Succubus, Lorelei, seductress, mantrap, siren, enchantress, lady of the night, the list goes on and on. Any of those ring a bell? Let me explain.
The realm of bloodsuckers is not as black and white as the world has always thought. To be truthful, besides our choice of chemical needs, we are quite alike. Let me break it down so there is absolutely no confusion.
I am an ancient creature. I was born as I am. Others have been made, but not me. I have fangs that retract, which are capable of extracting the hormone oxytocin from the human bloodstream. My razor-sharp fangs work two ways. First, they extract the hormones I need to survive, and second, they pump back in the blood you will most definitely need. However, I have complete control as to whether I give back the fundamental fluid. I usually do. Usually.
Oxytocin is the hormone that is secreted when the body feels pleasure, arousal, or passion. Enter the succubus. The hormone keeps me strong, fed, and eternally beautiful. On the other hand, vamps extract adrenaline from their victims, which is why they use fear to extract the chemicals they need. And yes, they have the power to return the human blood as well, but they are a grumpier sort of monster.
Death does not come easy to either of us. Light, crosses, and holy water are completely useless. However, garlic does taint the blood, and vamps say it inhibits the manufacturing of adrenaline. I think they just like to whine about anything they can.

As far as I know, death only comes from dismemberment. However, my bones are as strong as steel, and my skin like marble. You really have to piss off one of your own kind to get killed. I generally try to avoid such situations. The phrase, “I’m a lover not a fighter” was originally coined by me.

happy saturday all hope you are all having a wonderful weekend

Welcome to a humid Saturday here in good ole Saskatchewan. After a week of rain it is nice to have the humidity and the heat of a sunny day. So today is the review for IF I WERE YOU ,by Lisa Renee Jones. The first of the inside out series

BOOK BLURB

The steamy first installment in the Inside Out erotic romance series by Lisa Renee Jones, in the bestselling tradition of Fifty Shades of Grey.
When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she's shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer--until the terrifying final entry.

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca's life. Soon she's working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca's friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she's going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she's not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.

MY REVIEW
This is the first installment in the Inside out series.  Meet Sara MacMillan a high school teacher. Who finds the journals of a woman named Rebecca in a storage unit. When she starts reading them Sara is transported into Rebecca's world and her dark fantasies.
Something bad happens and Sara sets out to find out what happened to Rebecca, she works and goes to all the places Rebecca was and even started working at the same art gallery . She is caught between to hot alpha men. Will she realize her own needs with this dark man and will she find the answers she is looking for.

They say that this book is written in the tradition of fifty shades. Well yes and now. If I were you is a much more intense read for me. You get suckered in from the first page. Yes it is dark and you do have Dominance but you don't have the crap in between like fifty shades. As fifty shades drove me crazy. IF I WERE YOU  had me turning page after page well into the night.
The characters in the book did kinda have the same characteristics of the other book. Sara seemed shy, but also strong . As she is following  the clues in the journals to find out what happened to Rebecca. Mark, haven't decided about him yet, he could end up a good guy or a bad guy, Sara can't make her mind up about him. She is seeing him through the words that Rebecca put down on paper. Also that every run in she had with him has been very weird and dangerous.  Then there is Chris, I still haven't made my mind up about him either. He has a darkness around him. The tastes he has run deeper then any of them realize. But no one really knows for sure what is up with this man.
Lisa takes these characters to places that make you go oooh or wow. They are complex characters with lots of secrets and baggage. You go from yes to no to oh my god in the turn of a page. Lisa can take you to the heights of happiness and then to the depths of holy hell.
Like I said before this is one intense book, Lisa is an excellent writer. This series should be on your tbr list. You will not be disappointed, The sex in this book is not just hot it is Scorching. You will be panting for more and more as you read. This is a good read for those who like fifty shades. This book will blow that book out of the water. So much more intrique and mystery along with the sex.  There is just one down fall in this book , big cliff hanger . So when you get this book try and get the rest of the books so you can book binge . Like I will be doing. So if you want a great book with hot alpha men, a shy woman coming into her own. And you like books along the lines of fsog and bared to you . Check out these books , so great for those hot sultry nights .

Good Thursday everyone. Hope you are all having a great day. I am drying out from our really bad thunderstorm last night . We got over 2 inches of rain in an hour. It just came down in buckets. So what does a girl do when it is pouring and the power keeps flicking on and of . She reads and reads oh yeah did I say read. I send thanks to the people who decided to actually put the reading light in the e reader . Read LOOKS LIKE TROUBLE TO ME  by Calinda B

BOOK BLURB
5 stars! "Jace has a lot of drama and history, and in my opinion  his character was far more dynamic and interesting than Zoe's. She just seemed to be there to be his "other half" but really, it was Jace who stole the show and my heart. He is just so damn delicious!" (Samantha Ryan; GoodReads, Librarything, Shelfari, Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers)

"Last name's Savage -- it means wild and uncontrolled," Jace, a party boy, yacht builder and skilled photographer with a quicksilver temper, tells the pretty waitress at Chica Rios. He's desperate to get laid, but there's something in the way of his driving, overactive libido and the girl standing before him - trouble...big trouble, and a whole lot of it, from the trustifarian prick who works by his side, to his messed up twin sister, to the secret hiding at his house.

5 stars! "Their scenes are intimate, explosive, and so steamy. A definite winner and I can't wait to read the rest of the series! " (Karen Matthews; GoodReads, Librarything, Shelfari, Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers)

He sets out to woo Zoé Dubois, keeping her away from his trouble at home, encouraging her to let go of her inhibitions and live "Savage style," riding with him on the back of his motorcycle, exploring the great outdoors in a variety of oh, so delectable and naughty ways.
NY REVIEW

This is the first book in Calinda's new contemporary romance series. Meet Jace Savage a hot photography, yacht builder and self proclaimed bad boy.  That is until the day he meets Zoe Dubois. A college student, waitress and Chico Rios.  He proclaims to her that he is dire need of getting laid. She isn't looking to get laid but find love. But she is drawn into his world. As he woos her and they have great sex and huge fights. As he tries to keep her away from his problems at home and work. The drugged out sister and the baby he is taking care of. To the bully of a so called friend with too much money and not enough brains.  As they go along they start to actually fall for each other But as with every relationship we have the secret keeping and the misunderstandings. That will break them up for a little while but they always come back to each other in the end and love wins out.
Calinda takes us on quite an adventure in the fast paced book. There are so many twists and turns in this book. You are taking on such a ride. I mean the bike Jace rides is a character in its self. I mean its a sexy sexy bike and who wouldn't want to ride behind Jace on it/ Yes I don't know how she did it but there is a sex scene on the bike. Yes ladies a hot sex scene on a bike
The characters are written with an intensity that leaps off the pages at you. You can feel the heat between Jace and Zoe just jumps off the page as you read. She is the calming influence in his life . He just bulldozes his way through life.  You want to scream at the e reader a few time when you read. Jace just tell her and don't be an idiot. She needs you. You also want to punch Billy in the face a few times , he is so greasy and you just want him to get his in the end.
This is a fast paced book that is full of well everything sex, intrigue and a hot motorcycle.
There is also some BDSM and alleged drug use through out this book . So if you enjoy reading about that this might not be the book for you. Over all I really liked this book the word baby was over used just a bit , but that is my opinion.  So if you want to read about the hot alpha male and the sweet woman who tamed him. Oh yeah and a very hot motorcycle named grievous angel . This is the book for you. So check it out, great read for those hot sultry summer nights .

BOOK BLURB
Ryan Chase left Fairbanks, Alaska, when she was 21 years old to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Somewhere along the way her dreams of stardom crashed and burned, along with her life.

Thirteen years later she is forced to return to Fairbanks because her unforgiving and emotionally-distant father has suddenly died. Ryan seizes the opportunity to not only escape her abusive husband but to be able to attend her best friend's wedding. What could go wrong? It's only Fairbanks, Alaska...
While wishing she was anywhere but her father's funeral and wake, Ryan is struck senseless by a stunning, drop-dead gorgeous man. Her thoughts turn carnal and she desperately wants to know him in every way—and position—possible. There's only one problem...

He's the devil's spawn.
He's the one who marked her for life.
He's the kid she used to baby-sit.
And he's hotter than hell!

Shea Michaels has loved Ryan Chase for most of his life. After surviving an unspeakable childhood, he became a man of whom she could be proud ...if she ever came back.
Now that she's returned, Shea pursues her with a vengeance, undaunted by the thirteen year age difference that Ryan uses as the shield between them.

Confusion, guilt and lust bombard Ryan as she battles the memories of the little boy she used to know while still being drawn to the heart-stopping man he has become.

***18+ due to explicit sexual situations, graphic language and intense adult themes.

Ryan left Alaska thirteen years ago , wanting to become a big name actress . She heads off to New York. But life in New York isn't all sunshine and roses. Her acting career is tanked and she is running from an abusive husband. So as she heads back to Fairbanks for her father's funeral. She thinks this is the perfect place to hide for a bit. Her best friend Trina meets her and they are like it hasn't been so many years . At her dad's funeral she sees a tall , dark fuckable man. Who feels familiar but yet foreign. Finding out that the man ,was the boy that she use to babysit. Andtrew/ Shea he is so hot and wants to make Ryan his forever.  He is so gorgeous , trust me ladies he maybe young but you will want him to well just do everything naughty thing on your naughty list. He is charming, sexy and so together. He is the only person that can finally make Ryan feel at home and make her finally feel love.
Together they feel their way through the relationship. As you see both characters grow and become stronger. Ryan at the beginning of the was wounded, conflicted and kind a ditz . But as the story went along you see the real Ryan come out and it shows that she is strong and a survivor. After everything that she went through you can see her grow. Shea/ Andrew was all cocky and alpha. He was hiding so much pain from his past. As you see him emerge the man that every woman wants in her life. He is so compassionate and loving . not broken like most of the characters I have read lately. Even though he is younger the Ryan, you so see the want and desire he has for her. Now every girl wants to see the love and desire in her man's eyes and Shea had it in spades for Ryan.
The characters were written with such a complexity and layered so well. You felt like you were right there in Alaska with them They did have a lot of sex but isn't that what happens in a new relationship. I loved the way Cory wrote their story and honestly didn't really rush them falling in love. Which to me is great, It bugs me sometimes when the romance feels rushed . Ryan and Shea weren't rushed . They both were nervous and admitted it too. You can feel the love that Cory has for these characters . Loved the older woman younger man also. There isn't very many books out there with this concept. It always seems older man and younger woman. Makes an woman in her late 40 's feel good .
Cory takes us on rollercoaster ride of  emotions . The twist and turns will keep you reading until dawn. Just watching the progression of the characters is natural and you will have a few tears in you eyes. You will also want to scream at you e reader a few times also, Cause boy both of the lead characters are so block headed sometimes . The last 4 chapters will have you weeping and then screaming and then weeping again but with joy. So if you want a great read about a older woman and younger man and their love story . Check it out . I know you wont be disappointed

Today I start something that will go on for about 21 weeks

Good Tuesday everyone. Hope I find you all happy and healthy and reading up a storm . Todays book is the first of a 21 week series from Pattie Larsen. Welcome to THE NIGHTSHADE CASES . The first episode is titled FREAK SHOW.

BOOK BLURB
When transsexual starlet Aisling is murdered, Detective Geraldine Meyers is assigned the case. With help from medical examiner Dr. Rachel Hunter, Gerri realizes this is no ordinary killing. While she might not want to call in over-eager anthropologist Dr. Kinsey DanAllart, the detective is forced to trust her friend's expertise in symbology, even though doing so means admitting "weird" things might be happening in Silver City. As the three friends unravel the mystery of the dancer's death, one thing is made absolutely apparent--something isn't right in their new hometown. And someone is doing everything they can to make sure the truth doesn't come out.

In Silver City, sometimes friendship can be murder.

Welcome to the first Nightshade Case, a series of twenty-one episodes in twenty-one weeks. Please note: this episodic series is based on the television show model, with screenwriting notations and shorter formats. There will be a complete mystery each week, with cliffhangers only occurring in the full season story line.

MY REVIEW
Welcome to Silver City . Where three friend have been pulled there . They all have special powers that help them solve the crimes that are happening. But there is something bigger in the works and each episode will bring them together and solve these crimes. Even the weird cases will come their way . When a transsexual is murdered Gerri with the help of her two friends go to work finding out who or what murdered the poor pole dancer
Let me introduce you to the ladies of Night Shades.
Gerri the fierce redhead police detective, she is tough and fierce. She won't admit but the sight of blood makes her hungry . She gets a thrill of going up to a homicide scene. She also has had a tragedy in her life , watching her old partner get murdered and dragged away by something , that can not be explained . She is the leader of the threesome, And actually hates the weird aspect of any murder.
Then there is the sweet medical examiner Dr Rachel Hunter , she has the expertise to know what someone has died from before even doing the autopsy . She can just look at a person and know what they will die from . That made her life hell when she was in medical school. So she decided to head to the morgue.
Then there is Kinsey DanAllart she is the anthropologist that has a knack for symbolism. She is the so insecure one of the three. She has the sense to read people and can comfort and pull things from their minds.
They all have unique talents and when put together they can solve almost anything. These characters are well written with complex layers, They have their quirks like Gerrie wanting to constantly shoot. maim and even kill her new partner. I kind a had to giggle the way that he was pushing her buttons, and she was planning on how to kill him and make it look like an accident. They are a great bunch of characters. With their own quirks and foibles.
This is the first of a 21 week series. There is a mystery to solve every week and will be wrapped up in the book. So really no cliff hangers . As the weeks continue we will find out more about the three main characters .
Pattie takes us on a action packed fun ride with each episode. The twists and turns will keep you reading all night long. It kind a reminds me of the old detective series  It is gritty but also funny in some areas. I could so see this a  television series . It is also written in that kind of format. I have the next 20 weeks of reading written down, I have them all on my wish list when they come out . I think this is going to be a exciting series to read. I can't wait to see where Pattie will take us next
So if you want a great weekly series to read this summer, while at the beach or at the pool . Check them out cause they rock

good monday morning all

Good morning all I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Hope all you father's had a great day.
Was busy all weekend here. It rained here all weekend so did a lot of reading actually got 4 book done and ate a lot of popcorn and drank iced tea while listening to the rain fall and the thunder roll . So her is the first book of a fantasy series I read this weekend THROUGH THE DOOR , think veil book1 by Jodi McIsaac

BOOK BLURB

It’s been seven years since the love of Cedar McLeod’s life left with no forwarding address. All she has left of him are heart-wrenching memories of happier times and a beautiful six-year-old daughter, Eden. Then, one day, Eden opens her bedroom door and unwittingly creates a portal that leads to anywhere she imagines.

But they’re not the only ones who know of Eden’s gift, and soon the child mysteriously vanishes.

Desperate for answers, Cedar digs into the past and finds herself thrust into a magical world of Celtic myths, fantastical creatures, and bloody rivalries. Teaming up with the unlikeliest of allies, Cedar must bridge the gap between two worlds and hold tight to the love in her heart…or lose everything to an ancient evil.

The first in the Thin Veil series, Through the Door is a pulse-pounding adventure that takes readers across the globe and deep into the hidden realms of Celtic lore.
MY REVIEW

Want a mystical adventure that dives into the Celtic lore. Let me introduce you to Cedar and her daughter Eden. Seven years after the love her life left Cedar. She is living a happy life in Halifax with her six year old daughter.  One day waking up and finding that when Eden opens her door , she can open it to anywhere she wants to go.
But, they aren't the only ones that know about Eden's new found power. One day Eden goes missing and Cedar will do anything in her power to find her precious daughter. As Cedar dives into Celtic myths and lore. She teams up with some unlikely allies . Where she will have to bridge the gaps between the two worlds while holding on to the love she has. while trying not to loose everything to a very ancient evil .

This is a great new twist on the Celtic lore and myths. I was mesmerized with each turn of the page. The author's characters were so well written and complex. I seriously think that Eden was my favorite character. She commanded every scene that she was in and made me giggle a few times, Cedar's character is the single mother that so feels the pressure of family and the struggles between working and staying at home with Eden. She is so strong and you feel for her every step of the way.  The rest of the characters are also very strongly written. where you don't know if they are good or evil. The ones you think are evil well things aren't what they seem . The author took the time to develop the characters and it shows on the page.
When you pick up this book, be prepared to enter a magical story. The author takes you on a magical journey between two worlds. That will keep you reading all night long. The magical world is so entwined with the real world. I loved the fact that this book was like an escape for me . I love reading fantasy but I was finding it starting to get boring. Just like other genres , it all started to get a little cookie cutter. So when I picked up this book I was so happy that it was different . I love Celtic myths and the fantastic creatures that are described in those myths. So I was excited and was reading all night  As soon as I was done with book one I got book 2 and read that as fast as I read book one.
The twists and turns were amazing in this book, thinking I had it figured out who the bad guys were. Well I got sucker punched and realized I was so wrong.  I am so happy that I picked it up . So if you want a great book that is full of myths the fantastic creatures. Also a story of love and what you will do to keep your love . This is the book for you , You will not be disappointed .

THE BROTHERHOOD  by Pattie Larsen

BOOK BLURB
Brothers in Mischief

“We’re working on a plan to track Belaisle.” Apollo said. “But we still haven’t hammered out all the details.”

“Please,” I said, “at least tell me you’ll read me in before you run off and get yourself killed.”

Apollo grinned. “Oh, Syd,” he said. “I knew you cared. Don’t worry, princess. Your knight in shining armor will make it all better.”

I laughed out loud and punched his arm. He winced, rubbing the spot.

“I mean it.” I jabbed a finger at Owen. “You, too. I’m counting on you to keep Mr. Mysterious here from making a mess.”

Owen saluted. “Aye, aye, captain.”

Boys.

Unable to track the pieces of Creator without the assistance of her son, Gabriel, and the gates he’s able to open to the veil, Syd instead uses every resource to discover how the Brotherhood leader, Liander Belaisle, is tracking her. When her friend, Charlotte, approaches Syd about the wereking and his enduring hatred for all vampires, Syd uncovers a dangerous alliance that could mean the disastrous exposure of all paranormals to humankind.

MY REVIEW
In this book we find Syd all grown up with kids of her own. As usual her personal world is colliding with her magical world. As the coven leader now she is in charge of keeping the peace between all the supernaturals and find out the threat of the brotherhood. All the while trying to figure out how the Brotherhood leader Liander Belaisle is tracking her.  Then there is the whole wereking emergency. Charlotte comes to her and tells her about the Danilo's plans and his hatred for all vampires. Which leads Syd to uncover a very dangerous alliance. Which could endanger all paranormals and exposure to the humankind. All in a days work for a strong witch oh yeah and put her family back together. What more could a woman do and will everyone survive.
Pattie did it again, this is an action packed book. We have witches, vampires, werewolves oh and dragons on every page.  I feel like I have watched Syd grow up from a teenager that just wanted to be normal, to a woman who is strong and courageous. Who will fight for those she loves but still has a heart. Pattie writes with such intensity, you can feel it in the pages. You can feel the anguish and the hatred and the love within every page. The story is very fast paced . You are taken from one side of the world to the other in a blink of an eye.
There are old characters and new characters. I just love Syd, she is such a woman that you do not want to mess with. She is one mother that will fight for everyone. Including her family. But Quaid is making that difficult. He is being such a pompous jerk. I kind a wanted to jump into the pages of the book and slap him upside the head. He needs to  realize that Syd is there and even though she doesn't say it. She needs him  and he needs her . All the characters are so well written, you know you are going to care about them and fall in love with them . Gabriel is such a sweet young boy and I hope that we get to hear more about this young man. He will be a strong light in Syd's life.
I am thinking that if you want an action packed book that is both a great read and a great series please check it out. If you like vampires, werewolves, witches and dragons check out this book .

MINSTREL'S CONVENANT  by Nance Bulow Morgan

BOOK BLURB
Mareese was still recovering from a two year old rebellion and a one year old battle with demons from the gates of hell. Saeede and Andreas lived there, happily composing songs about their last great adventure.
While across the sea in Nagrom a young king sought to change the culture of war amongst the kingdoms of his continent. He sought a trade treaty with the people of Crystalier and sent his friend and ambassador to Mareese to promote his idea.
At the reception to introduce the ambassador to the leaders of Crystalier everything was going superbly, until the ambassador was stricken with convulsions and died—the victim of poison!
The ambassador's men broke diplomatic protocols and arrested a local shopkeeper; an apothecary, and Saeede's mother! Saeede and Andreas launch a secondary investigation behind the scenes.
The investigation is nearly botched when the ambassador's man realizes who Saeede is to the apothecary. This creates a delicate diplomatic dilemma. Saeede would not be swayed and discovered an imposter afoot—an imposter who looks like the ambassador's daughter! When they are about to close in, the imposter gives them the slip, and the chase takes them across the sea to Ahnges. There it becomes apparent that political gain is at the root of the problem.
Thrust into a tangle of mistrusting kings the two friends are called upon to apprehend the ambassador's assassin and uncover the instigator behind the murder.
Minstrels' Covenant is Bulow-Morgan's third release. A mystery adventure that spans two countries with very different cultures. The reader will be hooked from the very beginning of this intricate tale.

MY REVIEW
Welcome back to the fantasy world again, we find Mareese recovering from the two year rebellion and the war with the demons. We find Saeede and Andreas there composing songs of their adventures .
While across the sea a young wants to set up a trade treaty with Mareese so he sends an ambassador to promote his plan, Everything is going great until the ambassador dies. Not knowing anything the guards arrest a local apothecary store keeper. Which happens to be Saeede's mother. Now that sends Andreas and Saeede into another mystery and they start their own investigation. As they work their way through Saeede finds out there is an imposter amongst them. This investigation takes them across the sea , Where there is political gains to be had and is the root of all things . As they close in and will they find the assassin
Again Nance takes us on an adventure like no other. She starts out with a bang and just lets us go from there. Saeede and Andreas were having a quiet time just writing music and regaling in their last adventure. Then all of a sudden they are swept up into another adventure where there is more at stake. The power of kings and a trade treaty are all in the mix this time around. You start reading and you just let the pages take you away. There are power struggles and young kings that want to prove themselves. Throw a murder and the pages turn themselves .  This story has a timeless quality about it. I mean it could happen in today's world Between two countries and their politicians. Power is always the root of all things that go on in the world of politics may it be in the times of old or now a days.
Andreas and Saeede are back and stronger then ever, there is also a new cast of characters that make an appearance in this book. They all add to the story line. Nance has a sense to make the characters their own. Its like you know them and you want to cheer for them and cry when they cry. I love Andreas and Saeede. She is a strong heroine that can kick some butt when needed. Andreas is her best friend and is also a great hero. They are like a fantasy mystery solving duo. They rock .
Nance has written a great second book for the Minstrels series. I am hoping that there will be a third book. I really enjoyed these books and was so happy to be given the chance to read and review them. I love to read and love all types of books. I really think that anyone between the ages of 15 to 85 would love these books. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have a great summer reading a fantasy book or two . So check them out

check it out

Today we are doing a author shout out and a review for Nicholas Tanek and his book THE COOLEST WAY TO KILL YOURSELF. The title is deceiving cause no one actually really dies in this book.

BOOK BLURB
Okay, so no one physically kills  themselves in this book.

The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself pulls you into the early 90’s New York City rave scene, in all its chaotic, psychedelic glory. The narrator grabs you by your wrist and drags you behind two teenage lovers from New Jersey as they tumble through a whirlwind of reckless hedonism that eventually spirals into a dark, devastating world of drug addiction and heartbreak.

As a teenager, Lynn cried, “No one is ever going to write something for me.”

Nearly two decades later, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Nicholas did just that. The gesture came too late for our unlikely heroine, but his heart was in the right place. A broken heart… but a true love.

Reunited after years apart, Lynn and Nicholas embraced their love and sexuality, and embraced each other, despite troubled pasts, despite illness, despite all of their imperfections and mistakes. They shared the kind of honest and shameless connection that few have had the honor of knowing, and most would never understand.

“We’re not hurting anyone. We’re just living life without caring what anyone thinks about us, without caring about the consequences.”

“It’s the coolest way to kill ourselves,” Lynn said.

So turn the page, and pull the trigger.

What some people are saying…

“I used to think that I was a fairly liberal and open-minded person. But this world is truly a world outside my comprehension and comfort zone.” – my sister-in-law

"You will never publish this book.” – my ex-wife

“Are you crazy? I can’t believe you are publishing this.” – most of my friends

“I love the fact that you are publishing this.” – most of my cool friends

“You have disgraced me.” – my mother

“Why is your mother so angry about your book? Make sure you shovel the snow from the driveway.” – my father

MY REVIEW
Lets head back to the early 90's the rave scene is in full swing in New York city. Lynn and Nicholas are teenagers and in young love. Fumbling along heading down a very dark path , leading them into the horrors of drug addiction and heart break.
After years apart Lynn and Nicholas are reunited after 20 years apart. They finally embrace the love they have for each other and the sexuality that they share. Despite the trials of illness, a troubled past on both there parts. They share an honest love that will help them through everything.
When I first got this book, I didn't know what to think, so honestly I put it aside for a bit. I wasn't sure if I was ready to relive the 90s for some strange reason. But when I did pick up this book and started reading I was happy. This is a love story, an unique love story but a love story just the same.
Mr. Tanek takes us on a roller coaster ride. Through the drug haze of raves and the perils of young love in that time . There are parts of this book where you go oh my goodness . There is se and kink in this book. There is also a lot of drug use, I mean a lot of drug use. This almost reads like a memoir. There are so many twists and turns that will keep you page turning. Using the rave scene as a back drop was an interesting concept. That helped the book flow quite nicely.

The characters are well written and very complex, Both Nicholas and Lynn are such broken people. They are young and in love but so many things got in their way at the beginning , the drugs the other people . They drift apart and go down their own self destructive paths. Until a disaster pulls them back together . After 20 years . They come back together and finally find the love and acceptance that they both need. Lynn is such a tortured heroine. She has gone through so much in her life . But you don't feel sorry for her, you want to cheer for her and hope that she does get her happily ever after . Nicholas on the other hand  I kind a wanted to slap him around at the beginning of the book . He was very arrogant and he thought that he had the cat by the tail. As the book progressed he got better and he became the man that Lynn needed . I was very happy when they got back together. They are soul mates that belonged together , through the good and the bad.

If you are uncomfortable drug use, kinky sex and the darker side of what it means to be in love . This might not be the book for you, but if you want to take a walk on the wild side. Check it out . You won't be disappointed. If you lived through the raves of the 90s check out this book .

GOOD TUESDAY ALL

Good Tuesday all . Sorry about not posting yesterday but migraine city hit and trying to see the keyboard was not in my plans.  Today I give you Minstrel's Gambit by Nance Bulow Morgan

BOOK BLURB
Minstrels' Gambit is the first in the Minstrels' Tale Mysteries Series.
Saeede knew that Behlanna was not going to be a good city. She knew it the moment she saw the dark tower looming over the sleek dark wall. She and her partner Andreas needed to rest after a long journey. They would stay long enough to rest and perhaps play a tune or two for the locals but then they would be off again to more pleasant surroundings.
Upon their arrival in the city the two tired friends; minstrels and adventurers, are soon caught up in a murder investigation and find that they are the prime suspects!
Their investigation leads them to discover that an ancient riddle is at the center of their problem. Evil forces are at play against them and they must solve the riddle, and foil the unleashing of evil upon the world, to clear their names.
The keys to the riddles are hidden within four musical scores. As adventurers they must retrieve the scores from their protections within the elements. As minstrels they must decipher the keys hidden within the scores.
Thrust into an epic adventure the friends learn how deep and unwavering is their friendship-- how deep and unwavering is their skills with sword, music, and magic.
Minstrels' Gambit is Bulow Morgan's second novel. Sprung from the setting of her first novel Legend Destiny. This epic adventure attests to her story telling ability. The reader will be hooked from the very beginning of this gorgeous adventure.
Who doesn't love a fantasy adventure . I know I can get lost in them on a very rainy day. Let me introduce you to Saeede and her partner Andreas . They have stopped in Behlanna, They were just going to stay a couple of days . Maybe play some tunes and make a bit of money. Then move again to a better city. Well as they are there they get involved in a murder mystery. The two musicians are the prime suspects in this murder. They realize that there is an ancient riddle right smack dab in the middle of the mess that they are in. So they have to solve the riddles that are in wrapped up in four musical scores. As they fight and travel to find the clues that will help them figure out the riddle . They find out what they can do together, how deep their love and friendship actually is. Also how unwavering their skills are when it comes to music, magic. and the sword.
Nance took us on a grand adventure in this book. The people and places that Andreas and Saeede go to are both magical and some are even scary . The seventh circle of hell comes into play also. As a reader when I started reading I could not put it down. It seemed that the pages turned themselves as I read. The twists and turns will make you go hmmmm and oh my goodness. I didn't expect that to happen .  This is a creative well written fantasy book /
The characters are written with love. Nance took a lot of care to create such complex and layered characters. Saeede and Andreas are more then just traveling minstrels they are best friends and I honestly think that Andreas is in love with Saeede. Just my feeling. They basically go through hell and back working on the clues and they work very well together. They compliment each other well. They face dragons, dwarfs and beasts together. The whole cast of characters are really well written .
This is a great book that will keep you reading . If you are looking for a creatively well written fantasy book please check out this book . I read it in two days. So please check it out
