HAPPY RELEASE DAY THERESA SEDERHOLT

Good morning my peeps, hope your day is going swimmingly and you are having a fantastic summer so far. Its half over and there are still plenty of books to get you through the long lazy days of August. Today I have for you the third book in the The Black Book series, BLOOD VOWS by Theresa Sederholt.

                         BOOK BLURB

Self-destruction is ingrained into human nature. Each person carries the ability to cause their own extinction in all facets of life. Intervention rarely changes anything because one thing is clear…no matter how hard we try to set someone on a new path, their choices will always belong to them.

Save her best friend’s life again or save the cousin she never knew she had. That is the dubious decision Michelina faces. She never imagined she’d turn out more like Carmine, the grandfather she hardly knew. He was ruthless, which was reflected in the hoard of enemies that followed him. The blood on her hands won’t wash away easily as Michelina gathers her strength to become the head of the Amato family.

The contention between family members begins to fester, as her stepbrother’s plans for Carmine’s legacy puts not only Michelina’s life in jeopardy, but also the life of her closest friend.

                    MY REVIEW
Michelina has come a long way but to save her best friend she will have to dig deep to do the right thing. She never though that she could be like her father she never knew, but when it comes to her best friend she will go to the ends of the earth to find her and get her back. As she comes to terms of what it means to become the head of the Amato family, she realizes the blood won't wash off that easily. As things start to come together and tempers start to flare. Her stepbrother has not so good plans for the family and lives are put jeopardy. Will Michelina be able to rise up and get those who want to hurt her and take on the heads of the family.

Michelina and the family are back and wow what a transformation they take on. Michelina is really coming into her own in this book. I thought that she was very naive in the first two books but I was blown away in this book. She really gets a back bone and becomes such a force to be reconned with. She will do anything including murder to get her best friend back from the slimy stepbrother. She does have her sweet moments but we do get to see her transformation into the leader of the family. Luca well he is still wanting to protect but he is also having to come to terms with the fact he is part of the family and is torn between the FBI and his loyalty of being the son of a crime boss.  Agosta is coming to terms that he has to make a decision about not be relevant anymore , he knows deep down inside it is time for a change but he still wants to be helpful to his family. Ok now the character I really want to talk about . Jess, I now understand the way she is . We find out what happened in her past that made me want to hug her and tell her that everything will be ok. She has hidden a dark past that made her the way she is. Michelina and Jess are more like sisters with what what on in Jess's past and the dark secret that they share. You really start to care and love these characters with each new book.

This is the third book in the series and I will say it is a little darker then the other two. The author takes through some dark pasts to bring us to why the character acts the way they do. The story is intense and you will get sucked in big time. I am really starting to love this series and really enjoyed reading . We do get some romance but we also ger a lot of edge of your seat action. Yes it does end in a cliffhanger but the next book comes out pretty fast so you won't have to wait too long . So if you like a mafia story with a twist check out this series . It would be a great series for the weekend at the lake . You could read all three books in a weekend. Check them out

GOOD TUESDAY ALL

Good Tuesday my peeps, hope you are staying cool in this unbelievable heat we are having . I hope you all are getting some great summer reading done. Today I have for you book in the Midlife Mysteries series THE MIDNIGHT GARDEN  by Hp Mallory

                           BOOK BLURB

 PHILIPPA:

I haven’t seen Inspector Stirling for weeks… at his insistence, not mine.
But when Spencer and I stumble across the most bizarre of gardens situated right in the middle of Highgate Cemetery and then very nearly get trapped within it?
Well, the inspector is the first person who needs to know about it!
The only problem is the blasted man won’t listen to me!
And when I insist that his most recent missing person case is tied to this very strange garden?
As always, he refuses to allow me to get involved.
But if there’s one thing I don’t enjoy doing, it’s taking ‘no’ for an answer…

SPENCER:

There are very few things in life that bring me much pleasure.
Truly, I’m always looking for that next adventure, the next daring escapade that might bring me the excitement I so desire.
So when my little Pip and I come across a ghostly garden hidden in London’s foremost graveyard, well my interest is certainly piqued.
While the garden is the newest of mysteries for the two of us to solve, there is nothing quite like the mystery of this beguiling woman’s heart.
And that is the one adventure above all others that thrills me to my very core.

                   MY REVIEW
Welcome back to London, Phillipa hasn't seen Inspector Sterling in some time and has been spending her time with Spencer and also trying to harness her power, When out walking one evening Phillipa and Spencer come across an eerie garden right in the middle of Highgate. Which Phillipa tells Inspector Sterling and Spencer wants to solve the mystery of the garden, 'Will Phillipa be able to figure out her gift and solve the mystery with out getting harmed in any way and will Inspector Sterling finally come to terms with his feelings and will Spencer get the adventure he wants,

Phillipa and the boys are back and actually funnier then ever. Phillipa is still her strong self with opinions and theories on what is happening. She is working hard on harnessing her powers and getting herself entangled in yet another mystery. She is one strong willed woman who knows what she wants . Grant , Inspector Sterling , well he is still really uptight and stand offish but things come to light about his feelings for Phillpa and it is causing him distraction. I love how his uptight persona is starting to slip a bit when it comes to her. Now lets talk about Spencer he is such a scallywag who loves a good mystery but also loves the chase of Phillipa. He truly wants to spend time with her but is always on the look out for something better. I truly like where the author is taking these characters and how she is building them and turning them into more complex characters ,

This is the start of a new mystery story arc and it starts of with a bang .The author has us on the edge of our seats with all the twists and turns that happen through out the book The characters are well written and becoming more and more complex with each book.  The story does end in a cliff hanger but I can't wait to see what happens . If you love books like Bridgerton  this is the book for you but this book has a touch of paranormal that will have you reading all night long . Check it out .

HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO LISA KESSLER

Good morning my peeps hope you all had a great weekend and stayed cool. Today I have for you book three in the Salem Pack series WOLF'S WOMAN by Lisa Kessler

                          BOOK BLURB

Wyatt Rivers has always had a big heart when it comes to his pack, but love is a little more complicated for a werewolf. Now that his new Alpha has found his one true mate, he’s pushing the rest of the pack to do the same. Wyatt has touched plenty of women skin to skin over the years, and his wolf has remained silent. He didn’t expect that to change the night he visited the Grand club in Boston and hooked up with a leggy redhead.

Ashleigh Merrit has a secret that forced her to give up on relationships, but she can’t bring herself to swear off men completely. A one night stand with a tall sexy man in a club couldn’t hurt. No strings attached. She didn’t even tell him her real name. But when this third grade teacher from Salem brings her class on a field trip to the Munro Manor Farms, she comes face to face with the hot guy who rocked her world.

After kicking himself for allowing his mate to slip through his fingers, fate delivers her right to his doorstep, but someone is killing werewolves in the Salem Pack, and Wyatt will do anything to keep his mate safe, even if it means rejecting the only woman he will ever love.

                    MY REVIEW

Wyatt just wanted to blow off some steam but boy he wasn't expecting to find his other half, his mate . Ashleigh just wanted a one night stand, she doesn't do relationships at all. When they meet sparks fly but how do they find each other again. There were no strings attached one night stand. Until the day that she shows up at Munroe's farm and walks smack into the middle of Wyatt and his twin brother. When fate throws them a curve ball Wyatt and Ashleigh are thrown together when someone is after her and also killing the members of the Salem Pack. Will they be able to stay together or will Wyatt send her away to keep her safe .

Ok lets dive right into these characters, all i can say is holy wow. Wyatt is the guy you want to have on your side . Not only is he sexy but he is a good guy who would do anything to keep you safe . But. like any good hero he is also burdened by the past and also what will happen. Ashleigh well she is actually kind of a mess, she has sworn off men well kind of . She does like to have a one night stand every now and then. She is actually a sweet woman who has been hurt in her life and also is having to hide a secret that she is scared of. She does grow into her own by the end of the book which is so great to see . We also get to meet Micah a jaguar shifter from if I am not mistaken from the Sedona pack ( a cross over from the that series ). He is all about protection and is there to keep the pack safe during the full moon. He is kind of mysterious but oh so sexy. He fits right in with the Salem pack and doing his best to keep those safe and secure. The rest of the pack is back along with the witches of the Coven of light. We really get to see them all come together as a family when things start to go wrong .

Even though this is the third book in the series you really can get lost in the book if you haven't read the other books. The characters are so well written and you will fall for each of them. The author has a way to take her characters and put them through the wringer but have them come out better and stronger then ever . There is a love story with action thrown in for fun.  Reading books from this author are like coming home for a big hug after you have been away for awhile . So if you want a fun beach read for the last part of summer check it out You will not be disappointed

IT'S FRIDAY FINALLY

Good morning peeps we made it to another hot summer weekend. I hope you are all staying cool and getting lots of good books read. Today I have for you book 3 in the Mystic Hollows series . GORGON GONE WILD  by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain.

                            BOOK BLURB

I’ve been hired to protect the weregator community, just outside Misty Hollow, from whatever is living in the swamp—something that continues to claim lives.

Why would a group of machismo gators need the protection of a woman like me? Easy—I’m a gorgon, and with my stare that can turn any creature into stone, I’m basically at the top of the supernatural food chain.

But when six more weregator youth go missing, we all realize there’s something inside the swamp that’s bigger than all of us.

In fear for our lives, we must seek solace inside the protected perimeter of Misty Hollow. But seeking that protection means asking the mayor, Alistair Beaumont, for help.

And that’s not easy because Beaumont essentially stole the land Misty Hollow sits on, and the weregators still haven’t gotten over it.

When we’re denied entrance to Misty Hollow, I decide to take up the case personally and make it my own mission to approach Beaumont.

What I’m not counting on, however, is the sudden attraction I feel toward the scoundrel. Nor the way he reacts to me.

While my hormones are certainly reacting to the vampire, I’m also reasonably sure that Alistair Beaumont isn’t all he seems—and, more particularly, that he’s hiding something. Something big.

Good thing for me that I’m just the type of woman who likes to solve mysteries because this is one mystery that affects us all.

                  MY REVIEW

Welcome back to Misty Hollow where the weregators are being attacked and need help from the hollow but they won't help out.  Dory has been hired by the gators to keep them safe but there is a bigger threat out there they any of them know. After being attacked by by and unknown force they are force to seek help from the hollow. Allistair the mayor and vampire of the hollow doesn't want them to enter but when Dory pleads their case things take a different turn. Can a vampire and a gorgon be able to save the hollow and find out that there is a place for both of them .

We get to see the hollow from a totally different view this time around. Dory is a Gorgon a descendant of Medusa. She doesn't think that she is good enough because she isn't like the rest of her family. She is a very cautious woman who really doesn't realize her own worth. We also get to see the rest of the cast of characters . The were gators are such a fun read they may come of gruff and rough but deep down they are a family and when a family gets hurt they come together to fight..  And what is up with Allistair is was such a fun read this time . He wasn't so much of a stick in the mud, uptight arrogant man. He does have a heart under that vampire mask he dons every day.

This is such a fun fast read and it was nice to see the other part of the community shown in the book. The characters are so much fun to read and every book has a new character that just adds to the family. I am truly enjoying this series and they would be a great read for the last part of summer. So if you want a fun read check out this series you will be laughing all summer.

GOOD MONDAY ALL

Good morning my peeps. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and stayed cool with a good book. Today I have for you book two in the Salem Pack series. WOLF'S WINTER  by Lisa Kessler.

                          BOOK BLURB

It’s Christmas in Salem, and Winter Allen isn’t just playing the Ghost of Christmas Past in the community theater’s production of A Christmas Carol, she’s actually seeing them. And this spirit is worried that the people responsible for her murder are now after her daughter. Somehow the ghost knows Winter is a witch, and her ice magic may be the key to saving the ghost’s daughter.

Jackson Walker is a PI in Salem, but he’s also a werewolf, and his heightened senses give him an edge. When a witch from the Coven of Light contacts him asking for help in finding a missing woman, he’s quick to agree. The last thing he expects to discover is that Winter is his one true mate.

With a nefarious law firm hunting for witches, the holidays have never been more dangerous, but Winter can protect herself. Her real fear is losing her heart, and one kiss with Jackson under the mistletoe just might seal her fate…

                      MY REVIEW
Welcome to Salem where things aren't always what you expect. It is Christmas time and between playing the ghost of Christmas past and planning the winter party for the coven and the local werewolf pack. Winter Allen . a witch, gets a visit in the night from a ghost asking to find her daughter and help keep her safe. With the help of Jackson Walker a pi and a werewolf they plan a party, work on finding the girl and well they are more to each other then they both know. Will one kiss bring them together or will the evil law firm take them out before they can realize that they belong together.

Winter is such a cool character, she may be a witch but she has some really cool powers to go along with being a witch. She can see dead people and she is an elemental, winter is her specialty. She is a sweet woman who has been through so much but has survived and flourished. She comes off shy when you meet her but when she is on the stage she is a different person . Jackson well he is the guy in high school that every girl would dream of , on the football team, gorgeous and well liked. There is a deeper part to Jackson that is hidden from the world besides being a werewolf , he is pretty deep and not your typical jock. They are such a fun couple to cheer for they have some sweet times together and are very cute together.

This is the second book in the series and it is a sweet Christmas novella that will put you in the mood for hot choc and mistletoe .  Yes there is a lot of mistletoe in this book hehehehehe. The characters are well written and you will love them . The story will keep you turning pages and be on the edge of your seat and swooning. The only thing I do wish it was a little longer and pull us in deeper into the story. Over all I loved this book and happy to see a new series from one of my favourite authors. A great summer read for the lake.

WELCOME TO WEDNESDAY

Good afternoon peeps, hope you are having a wonderful day. Today I have for you the last book in the Happily Never After series by Hp Mallory. BLAZE

                          BOOK BLURB

The final book in the Happily Never After Series…

Blaze, otherwise known as Little Red Riding Hood, has a mission.
And it’s an important one.
But when she gets kidnapped and the charm that allows her to see is taken from her, she finds herself in a cave and blind. And completely dependent on whoever has abducted her.
Unluckily for her, it’s a group of three hellhounds.
But these hellhounds—Ransom, Axion and Maddox—aren’t all they seem to be. And fairly soon, Blaze finds herself needing to team up with them to defeat a much larger threat.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Chosen ten are battling their own wars with enemies who serve under Morningstar.
Will the Chosen Ten find victory against their adversaries? Read the final book in the Happily Never After series to find out!

                   MY REVIEW
We are back and Blaze is trying to get to groups of fighters that will hopefully take out Morningstar. When she is taken down by three hell hounds that want her to help them take out the enemy. Ransom, Axion and Maddox are well more then what they say they are and Blaze needs to trust herself and lean on them to help her defeat the enemy. While everyone is fighting hard to take out the enemy and return the world to normal. Blaze and her three men must make their way to  free the one person who could change the tide of the war. Will they all be able to find their happy ever after and will they be able to fight and destroy the enemy.
Blaze is a fighter and a spy who has a hard time realizing that she is a chosen one. She is trying to get everyone where they are suppose to be and making sure that there are fighters . When she finds three hounds that well are her mates she is not sure how to take it. She knows she has feelings for two and the third gave his life to get them through. I must say Blaze is one of my favorite characters she is brilliant and feisty and wants to fight for what is right.Ransom is a devilish sweet guy who has the charm of twenty men when it comes to the ladies. Maddox is well he is a healer and wants to help those out but he is also very sweet and very good looking. Axion is the king and wants to get his followers back he will do what must be done to keep his people safe. We also get so more of the characters from the other books fighting for what is right . I think the author saved the best for last in characters they are well written and complex.
It is hard to say good bye to such wonderful characters and a great series. I usually have trouble with retelling of such fairy tales but this author made them her own and took them to new directions . These books are reverse harem and so much fun to read, the characters are well written and each of them are complex . This series is a fun easy read for those lazy summer nights . I think you need to read the books in order so you can keep up with all the ladies . Check it out .

HAPPY RELEASE DAY

Good Friday my peeps. I hope you are all getting ready for a great weekend and find time to read. Today I have for you a very emotional book 6 in the Resistance Girl series . THE CRYSTAL BUTTERFLY by Hannah Byron

                           BOOK BLURB

In the depths of wartime, love emerges as an unyielding force. Prepare for an unforgettable journey through heartbreak and courage in this gripping WW2 tale. Drawing inspiration from captivating classics like The Lost Girls of Paris and The Nightingale, this book will ensnare you from the very first page.

Amsterdam, 1939

Dance is the poetry of her soul; dance is her sanctuary.

In the ruthless world of professional dance, Edda Van der Valk, a blue-blooded prima ballerina, sacrifices everything for her passion. But her dreams crumble under the weight of a relentless Russian rival. Seeking solace, she flees to a Swiss finishing school.

Amidst Germany's tightening grip on her homeland, Edda is confronted by her parents courting Hitler’s Fascism. A glimmer of hope emerges when she meets Asher Hoffmann, a fellow dancer whose Jewish family sought safety in Holland. Together, they dance to forget their sorrows, only to be engulfed by betrayal and deportation.

Driven by determination, Edda joins the Dutch Resistance, defying insurmountable odds to protect Jewish families. But framed by treacherous members of the Dutch NSB, she faces arrest and is sent to Camp Westerbork—a haunting purgatory before the harrowing journey to the concentration camps. Amidst despair, she loses Ash's cherished butterfly brooch, the symbol of their love.

The Crystal Butterfly unveils the heart-breaking journey of a dreamlike, artistic spirit, who crashes down hard only to find her true wings when all hope is lost. Get it now before the price goes up.

                      MY REVIEW
Welcome to Amsterdam in 1939 Germany is tightening its grip on Edda's homeland but the young woman is a born and bred ballerina who is putting everything into her dancing, With the German influence pushing its weight in her country Edda heads to a finishing school in Switzerland. As she recoups from her accident while dancing she makes some good friends but all she wants to do is dance. When she heads back she has to come to terms with her families ties with Germany and the pressure they are putting on her and her family. There is a glimmer of hope when she meets Asher Hoffman a dancer who is also Jewish.  When they dance there is no war or pain but like everything else their love is torn apart when Asher and his family are taken away and Edda doesn't know what to do . She joins the resistance and starts helping the Jewish communities but is that enough. After being framed and put in prison the only thing that can help Edda get through it is the beautiful crystal brooch that Asher gave her and hold on to the love that they have.

Ok I am first going to let you know that the characters in this book will absolutely break your heart. Edda is a proper young lady is very disciplined in her passion as a dancer. She is one of the best in the ballet world. She is tough as nails and it seems like things don't get to her but deep down inside of her is a sadness. She tries to hide the fact that she has lost everything including her family to the Germans. She is stronger and more determined to help those out and to dance again. Asher is well he is kind of a tough cookie to crack he is strong but deep down inside he is scared about what could happen to him and his family cause of his religion. Like Edda he wants this war over and to continue dancing with the woman who stole his heart. Tante Riet is like a surrogate mother to Edda but I will tell you there is more to this woman then meets the eye. She is the part of the resistance and really keeps Edda together through out, when they start doing tasks for the resistance they really do bond together and become a family. Each of these characters are very well written and complex .

This may be book 6 in the series it reads like it could be read as a stand alone . The author takes us on such an emotional ride. I have never felt so many emotions while reading a book. The tolls of what people have gone through you can't imagine, and the happiness of being freed from the camps is infectious. The story will have you on the edge of your seat, sighing softly for the love between the two main characters and you will be shedding a tear or two as the trials of the past come back to haunt you . This is one of those books that you will want to devour and savor . Check out this author and her historical romance books that will give you all the feels.

                    MY REVIEW
Dove Agnew and the ladies of the quilting crew are back. Dove is trying to figure what happened to her ex boyfriend, he has gone missing along with a young university student. No one has answers on what happened and Dove is being stone walled from the start. She is off to Tennessee to try and figure out what happened. She gets some unexpected help from the ladies of the local quilting club and the cutest little goat ever .  Along the way she meets suspects and allies that will help her piece together what happened that night before she becomes the killers next victim.

Ok lets dish about Dove and the ladies .I must admit I really want to be part of this girl group. They are so much fun to read . Dove is no nonsense woman who is a quilter and a sleuth part time . She seems to be the one to get into the mystery and help solve it. The ladies of the guild are a hoot, they never seem to be at a loss for words and when push does come to shove they are there for you and will help you out any time they can. Each of them brings a special talent that will keep you on your toes as you read. My all time favorite character is Petunia the goat, she is sweet and loves attention. She really loves the ladies and they love her . She brings a smile to your face when ever she is in a scene. All the characters are well written and complex and you will find your favorite.

This is one of those books that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going on and the next moment you are laughing so hard at what someone or one cute goat has done.  This is one of those cozy mysteries that you can not put down the author takes us on an adventure . You can't help but cheer them on and yes there might be a moment when you think you have it figured out but you really don't. There are twists and turns and a little bit of romance that will keep you entertained . This series would make a great summer read for those lazy days at the lake .

WELCOME TO MONDAY

Good Monday morning peeps , hope you all had a great weekend. It was Canada day here so we have a nice long weekend here. Got a lot of reading done and spent time out in the sun. Today I have for you book 3 in the Midlife Mysteries , IN SHROUDED SHADOWS  by Hp Mallory.

                          BOOK BLURB

  London, 1880

PHILIPPA:

As if it weren’t difficult enough to solve the mystery of these blasted Poison Pen Letters that continue to plague the London elite, I’m also trying to solve the mystery of my own paranormal powers.
Abilities I’m starting to believe might be more a curse than a blessing.
But when I seek out the guidance of Madame Dubois, a skilled medium who should be able to part the veil, things don’t exactly go as planned.
With the question of my paranormal curse or gift still unresolved, I put all my focus into disrobing the author of the Poison Pen Letters by…
Throwing my own ball!
Convinced this is the only way to catch the troublesome author (by setting my own trap), I find myself caught between the attentions of two men: the surly Inspector Stirling and the scoundrel, William Spencer.
It’s growing more and more difficult to keep each man firmly in the friend camp when they begin awakening feelings within me I thought dead and buried with my dearly departed husband…

GRANT

Philippa Fairfax is the most troublesome woman in all of London.
And I can’t bloody well get her out of my mind.
Or out of my investigation into the Poison Pen Letters.
The case takes a turn for the personal when Philippa receives her own letter, warning her to keep her nose out of the investigation or suffer the consequences.
While the woman would drive any poor bastard to drink, her safety is now my primary concern.
And I will make damn sure no one harms a hair on her head…

                      MY REVIEW

Phillipa is back and embroiled in another mystery along with the two men vying for her hand. She is also trying to figure out what her paranormal powers are and why she has them. The poison pen letters are still plaguing London What does a woman do to but throw her own ball to flush out the writer of the letters and honestly to get to the bottom of her powers . She along with Madame Dubois, a skilled medium and Inspector Grant Sterling and William Spencer . Will they finally find out the author of the letters and will Phillipa finally figure out her powers .

Welcome back to London 1880 where women are put on display with the latest fashion of the time . Phillipa is at the height of fashion and well she is actually having a trying time of it in this book. She wants to get to the bottom of who is sending out the letters but is having a bigger time of trying to figure out what type of physic powers she has . She has grown a lot and become a true lady and a fighter for what she believes in. Grant is becoming more around to Phillipa and what she can do. They still have their moments where they butt heads but you see them start find their way to each other. They are well written and becoming more and more complex.

In the third book we find it more about what her powers can do and we watch how the relationship between Grant and Phillipa grow. I must admit that is has been my favorite book of the series so far. It is really more intense and we get to see a more intimate side to the two main characters. We also get to know more about how Phillipa got her physic powers and what they can do. This book is a story full of lies and secrets, and obsessions and ones ability to overcome the pressures put on them. We also get a love story that is building and changing with each character . You know how it goes girl hates boy , boy loves girl but doesn't show it and pushes her away. You should try this series out if you love Bridgerton with a dash of Supernatural this could be the series for you . Check it out for you summer by the lake reading
