MADE IT TO WEDNESDAY

Good morning my peeps, I hope your week is going well and you all had a great weekend . Its been a pretty busy week here on the farm but I did have time to get some reading done and today I have book two in the Midlife Mysteries series .  POISON PEN LETTERS by Hp Mallory.

                         BOOK BLURB

   London, 1880

PHILIPPA:
All of London is abuzz about the newest scandal: Poison Pen Letters.
These letters, written anonymously, are plaguing the upper classes and include highly personal and damning information that could ruin numerous reputations.
And guess who happens to be investigating them? The highly irritable Inspector Grant Stirling.
Just as ornery and difficult as he’s always been, it seems I can’t stop crossing paths with the cantankerous man.
When my closest friend, Lady Caroline Ashmore, receives her own detestable letter with allegations that are too lewd for respectable eyes, I decide to get involved.
And find myself butting heads with Inspector Grumpy.
As if that weren’t frustrating enough, enter the enigma known as William Spencer—a man who just might prove to be the Ace in my sleeve where this investigation is concerned...

GRANT:

Philippa Fairfax is going to send me to an early grave.
The woman is nosy, determined, stubborn and quite like the vermin problem in London, she’s impossible to get rid of.
And yet… there’s something about her that’s causing me to get hot underneath my collar—and not just with anger.
Confident, brazen, independent and undeniably beautiful, I can’t keep the blasted woman out of my investigations or out of my mind.
And I’m not certain which is worse…

                         MY REVIEW
Its 1880 London and ladies are ladies and men are men. Lady Fairfax is embroiled in another mystery , the poison pen letters. They are plaguing the upper crust of London and no one knows who is penning the letters. When her friend  gets her own letter Philippa takes it upon herself to figure out who is writing the letters. That means she will be butting heads with Grant Stirling the sexy inspector who really gets under her skin. In walks a perfect stranger a devilish stranger who is turning her life upside down. William Spencer the link in the case that might just might push Philippa in the right direction. Will she be able to figure out the writer of the letters and will she butt heads with Grant and not get anything done.

Grant and Philippa are back with a new mystery, and really getting under each others skin. Philippa is well being as strong willed as one could be back in the day. She carries a secret with her that she has since a child that she can see dead people, which no one knows of . Grant well lets just say there is more to him then just being a inspector, he is debonair and sometimes quite infuriating in a good way. You know you can trust him but he also gives off an air of importance and he will get the job done. We also get to meet a new character, William Spencer , we get to meet him in a spectacular way in Philippa's bedroom.  He is a character and honestly you don't know what way he will go. It is like he has a way of charming himself out of any situation he gets into. You really can't trust him but you can't help but like his charming ways.

This is book two in the series and a brand new mystery to solve . The characters are really likable and you get invested in them very fast. The author has taken us back in time but has not made the books stuffy like some historical books. She has made her own world in that time period and you can't help but fall for the time and the characters. This is a fun fast read that would be great for a beach read for the summer so check out the series,  Step back in time for a fun fast read .

GOOD MORNING WORLD

Good morning my peeps I really hope your Wednesday is going well. Today I have for you an author I am loving. Jodi Allen Brice and her book NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS.

                             BOOK BLURB

"Not Like the Other Girls" is a touching and emotional novel that takes readers on a journey through the life of Kathleen Johnson. Raised by her loving grandparents on a Southern farm, Kathleen's life is filled with faith, love, and determination. Drawn to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps of helping people, she decides on a nursing career. There, she meets and falls in love with the perfect guy, Matthew Hollings, and soon finds herself walking the aisle and making a lifetime commitment to loving him. But when she discovers his dark secret, she is forced to return to her grandparents' farm to figure things out and decide what to do.

To her surprise, she encounters a farm hand from her past, whom she must forgive in order to move forward. As her faith wavers and she finds herself in unknown territory, she must make a choice to trust without faltering or sink below the waves of fear.

Heartbreak and secrets are at the center of this captivating novel, but ultimately it is a story of redemption and how God seeks out the brokenhearted to call His Own. "Not Like the Other Girls" reminds readers that though we may be a product of our past, our future is a fresh, clean slate waiting to be written.

                   MY REVIEW

Kathleen is a college student who wants to get her nursing career and help people like her grandparents. Growing up on a farm in the south Kathleen was raised by her grandparents. When she meets the perfect guy at school and falls in love hard. After marriage Kathleen begins to loose herself and things come to a head , home is where she belongs and when an enemy from her past , well who she thought was and enemy , comes back into her life maybe she can find herself again.

Kathleen is one of the sweetest characters ever, kindhearted, willing to help anyone out. Until the day Mathew walked into her life and her life changed and honestly not for the better . You see her loose herself in a love that really can't be called love. We see her fall and become the  brunt of what her husband is doing. When do you fight back and take back your life and when do you finally let go of the past is the center of her turmoil and come out the other end stronger and wiser. Mathew is one of those characters that well is way too good to be true . He comes in like a tornado taking everything with him. He is good looking and well has the personality of a great guy. But like every thing looks can be deceiving and words have double meaning . There are times bad things come wrapped in good looking packages. Grans and grandpa are the sweetest people ever but they know more then they let on when it comes to the young couple. The character I really did like was Deacon, this poor boy is brooding and sometimes comes off as a gruff bully, but there is more to Deacon then he lets on. There is a lot of hurt in him and his heart. When push comes to shove he is the guy you want in your corner .

This book is one of those books that is sweet but also very poignant story line. The characters are very well written and complex. You will love Kathleen and her grandparents and want to wrap them up and hold them tight. I honestly couldn't put this book down I was cheering for Kathleen the whole time and I never trusted Mathew at all. The author had a way of sucking you in with the great characters and a timely topic. There is a fall and redemption and a chance at new love in this book . If you want a sweet book that will have you reading into the night check it out .

BOOK THREE IN THREE DAY

Good afternoon my peeps, today is the last day in my three books in three days, Today I have for you the third book in the Gwen's Ghosts series. LEFT FOR DEAD by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain

                          BOOK BLURB

After solving the mystery of who killed the woman who previously owned my cottage, I’m hoping my life in the small and quaint English village of Morley-on-Avon will quiet down.

But no such luck.

And I’m not just talking about ghosts.

I don’t know how it happened, but for someone who promised herself she’d avoid all romantic entanglements, I now have two men vying for my attention—the handsome and kindhearted blacksmith of Morley, Leo Tanner, and Morley’s own resident lothario playboy, Bastian Chambon.

And there’s no dating one and keeping the other as a friend. So, for now, the choice I’m making is no choice at all.

Now, for the ghost part.

There are whisperings of a young man going missing, and right about the same time, a ghost sporting Regency attire pops up in a cornfield.

Coincidence anyone? I think not.

So, guess who’s about to plop on her detective hat to go prowling for clues?

                     MY REVIEW

Gwen and Petra are back and trying to navigate life after sending Leo's wife to prison, she now is trying figure out her feelings between the two men in her life. Leo the sweet blacksmith who she could see herself with and Bastian the playboy who just wants to have fun. Oh and if that isn't enough there is a young man missing and a ghost wearing regency attire popping up in of all places a corn field . What is a girl to do but put the men on the back burner and put on her detective hat and find out what the heck is going on.

Gwen and Petra are back and funnier then ever . Petra is getting more and more sassy with her come backs to Gwen and her dilemmas. She is really becoming my favorite character . Petra is like the total opposite of Gwen, Gwen sometimes is flighty and kind of ditzy sometimes and doesn't like hurt people. We also get to meet Fiona the girlfriend of the boy who went missing. Fiona feels like she knows more then what she knows and you really can't trust her in some ways. Bastian and Leo are back and making things complicated for Gwen.

This is the fourth book in the series and I am loving the characters each book is a fast read but you get sucked in and cheer for Gwen and Petra.  The authors have a new mystery each book and yes there is a love triangle but this one isn't full of angst, this one has lots of humor going along with the flirting. You have to read the series in order to get the whole story of Gwen and Petra . This would be a wonderful fun read at the lake this summer, they are short fast reads, so check them out.

DAY 2 OF THREE BOOKS IN THREE DAYS

Good morning my peeps, yes today is day two in my three days of books . Today's book is a brand new series by Hp Mallory the first book in the Midlife Mysteries series A GHOSTLY GUARDIAN.

                            BOOK BLURB

  London, 1880

PHILIPPA
I’ve returned to London with my proverbial tail between my legs.
After the death of my beloved husband, I took my broken heart and retreated to Paris, where I’ve been living for the last year.
But finally deciding I need to face the ghosts of my past, I’ve returned.
And now find myself sitting in a jail cell in Scotland Yard, the precinct of the London police.
I’ve been accused of stealing a diamond necklace. Really, there’s no mystery there—I’m guilty and I’ve admitted as much.
But I’m only guilty of taking back something which was already mine to begin with.
I can only hope Inspector Grant Stirling, a man as unfriendly as he is tall, dark and handsome, will believe me when I tell him he’s punishing the wrong person.
I’m not sure if it makes matters better or worse that my deceased husband, Patrick, was not only Inspector Stirling’s closest friend, but also his supervisor.
Regardless, Patrick has returned from the dead to help me clear my name...

GRANT
The last thing I expected to see is the beautiful widow Fairfax sitting in one of my holding cells.
Fiery, independent and determined, I can understand what drew Patrick to her.
She’s also an American heiress to a vast fortune, something which calls into question exactly why she’d steal a necklace.
I want to believe she isn’t guilty and I feel it my personal responsibility to make sure the reputation of my closest friend’s widow isn’t soiled.
Yet I can’t help but wonder if Philippa isn’t all she seems and, furthermore, if she had something to do with Patrick’s death.
Too bad (perhaps for both of us) that I need her help to gain entrance into the upper echelons of society, where a much bigger mystery is just taking shape…

                     MY REVIEW
Phillipa is having the worst day ever after being arrested and put in the holding cell . Lady Fairfax is arrested for theft of her own necklace by her stepson, Philippa just wants out but her stepson isn't having it and when she is questioned by Mr Stirling , her dead husband's friend and work friend .Grant knows that Philippa wouldn't steal but you never know and he knows she is hiding something but what . There is a far bigger case coming their way that they will need each other to figure it out .

Ok ok I know these two characters are from 1880 London but they are crazy for them . Philippa is and heiress and is a fashionista of the day. People looked to her to see what all fashionable ladies will be wearing for the season. She is very independent and has a feisty attitude to most things. But, she is hiding a secret of what she can do, she can see dead people . Grant Stirling is a debonair, brooding man who is kind of dumbfounded by Philippa and can't put a finger on what she can do . He wants to make it right and needs her to figure out a bigger mystery. There is more going on between these two. I would love to see how things go between them as the story continues,

This is a new series for this author and I am glad for it . I really liked how the author has placed her story in the 1880's . The characters are fun and the story line I think will be fun to read. This is a short, fast read and the characters are well written . As the story grows I can see the characters becoming very complex. Check it out you will not be disappointed .

THREE BOOKS IN THREE DAYS

Good afternoon my peeps I am going to do something a little different for the next three blog posts. I am going to do three different books that have come out by my two favourite authors Hp Mallory and J.R Rain. Up first we have for you BIG GIRLS DON'T SCRY  ( Misty Hollow book two) by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain.

                          BOOK BLURB

My nine-year-old daughter and I have just moved to an outpost of a Hollow called Misty Hollow.

As a Bruja (a Latin-American witch), I’ve been hired by the mayor to help build the warding infrastructure for the blossoming town.

But there are a few things I wasn’t aware of before I agreed to take on this job:

* The mayor is a bloodsucking vampire, and as a witch, there’s nothing I despise more than the undead.
  * There’s something sinister going on in Misty Hollow, and, more specifically, that something sinister is located in the swamp.

* The last witches who attempted to do this job left, and I’m not sure why. As if that weren’t bad enough, there’s the foreman, Smith.

Look up ‘surly’ in the dictionary, and you’d find a picture of the man. Brooding, ornery, and always scowling, I immediately get on his bad side almost as soon as I set foot in Misty Hollow.

Oh, and to make matters worse? Smith is my boss.

While a smarter woman might tuck her tail and head back the way she came, I’m nothing if not stubborn. And as far as Misty Hollow is concerned—there’s a mystery here I want to solve.

                   MY REVIEW

Misty Hollow has some new employees in town. Violetta and her daughter Luna witches Latin America .  They are there to work on getting the wards up and working . Alistair is being shady as ever with what is really going on Misty hollow. As things get stranger and stranger between the gators and other supernaturals.  Violetta is having all sorts of feelings for the burly, broody foreman who is hot and more then what others are . What does a woman do with a broody dragon shifter and mystery that could get them all killed if they can't stop it.

Violetta and Luna are a wonderful addition to the Misty hollows team . Violetta is a feisty woman who is hiding a big secret that is hurting her and her daughter . Luna is sweet but also just a young girl who has been torn away from the coven that all she has known. There are growing pains for both of them through out the book . We also get to meet  Smith the grouchy but hot foreman who is honestly driving Violetta to distraction. We also get to have the characters from book one make an appearance to help Violetta out . The characters  are so well written and complex you can't help but fall in love with the new hollow.

This is the second book in the series and the characters just keep getting better and growing . We get to see how the hollow is growing and having growing pains at the same time. The authors are building a great town for them to grow in. There is a murder mystery along with some romance brewing that will have you laughing uncontrollably and you will be on the edge of your seat the rest of the time. I hope that we get to find out more about Luna and Violetta in up coming books along with the other characters. This is a fun series that you can read this summer .

TIME TO HEAD BACK TO THE HOLLOW

Good morning peeps we made it to Wednesday and on our way to the weekend . Today I have for you book 27 in the Haven Hollow series GEORGIAN GHOULS  by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain

                         BOOK BLURB

There have been a rash of grave robberies in Haven Hollow lately…

So maybe it’s not such a surprise that during one of my open houses, I find my eyes tracking every movement of a suspicious-looking character.

Suspicious, as in everything about this guy, is shifty… from how he keeps trying to avoid attention to his extreme interest in my client’s china cabinet.

So when the same man winds up dead on a random grave in the cemetery between Poppy and Wanda’s houses? Yeah… something is rotten in the state of Oregon.

Things get even stranger when I find two objects randomly stashed in strange hiding spots—objects that hum with their own type of electricity.

As if all of that weren’t enough to ruin a girl’s day, there’s my relationship with Roy…

Roy believes we are destined to be together—that it’s written in the cosmos. But I’m not sure how I feel about that—actually, I am sure how I feel about it—I don’t like it. Not one bit. Because all I want—more than anything else—is to be loved and desired for me.

Not for my Succubus pheromones and definitely not because Fate willed it so.

                    MY REVIEW

Fifi is back and working hard with her real estate business. When she is at an open house she sees a strange man who is just wandering around the house. He is trying hard not to be notice but Fifi tracks him and wants to know what is up with the china cabinet. Things get even crazier when that man is found dead on top of a grave and objects were found stashed in houses that Fifi is trying to sell. They have a mystery to solve and on top of it all Fifi has to figure out if the feelings Roy has for her are real or just part of a mate pairing that she really doesn't understand but wants to very badly. All in a days work for a succubus.

Fifi is back and well she is as stubborn as ever, trying to be independent and fighting her feelings for a certain sasquatch.  Roy well he is the sweetest guy who wants to love and protect Fifi. They have grown since we last met them but they both still need to have their heads smacked together . We also get to meet a brand new character Mrs Petryka a domovyk or house spirit from Ukrainian folk lore . She is a sweet old lady who loves to cook great Ukrainian food she reminds me of a sweet grandma who loves to entertain and feed you till you can't move. I love these characters and how they grow and add new characters to bring Haven Hollow alive .

This maybe book 27 in the series but it doesn't slow down any the characters are growing with each book and the town is growing and becoming more and more entwined with each story.  I really enjoyed this story and the way the characters are evolving . Fifi just makes me laugh on how hard she tries she is always getting into trouble. There is mystery, romance and a whole lot of laughing to keep you reading well into the night . If you want a fun series check it out, you won't be disappointed .

HAPPY RELEASE DAY

Good morning my peeps I hope your Tuesday is going well. Today I have for you one of my favourite authors Theresa Sederholt and her new Black Book series. MURDER BY MISTAKE

                        BOOK BLURB

One bomb; the ripples of devastation—endless

Tick . . . tick . . . tick . . .

Michelina

A week ago, I was a simple high school science teacher, and my biggest worry was making sure that my students got their final project in on time. Now, that is the furthest thing from my mind. Instead, I am in a race to save my life. In my possession is a key my grandfather left me. This key could change the lives of the five New York crime families that run the East Coast. I’m surrounded by the FBI and Mafia families. Good guys. Bad guys; the line blurs. One wrong decision could end so many lives, including my own.

Luca

I’ve lived my life on a dare. A life where I can do what I want when I want. Whoever gets in my way be damned. When I was assigned to protect her, she had no idea who I was—no one did. I didn’t expect to feel anything for her, except hate. Hate for what her family did to mine. Instead, I was beginning to fall in love with her. A forbidden love that could get us both killed or . . . it could land us at the top of La Cosa Nostra.

One wrong decision and it could blow up in our face . . . literally.
                   MY REVIEW
Michelina's life has changed in one second, once a high school science teacher her life was shattered when her mother was blown up in a car bomb . Now she is in the fight of her life and trying to find the key that could bring down some of the biggest mafia bosses. Now surrounded by FBI and mafia she doesn't know who to trust even Luca the FBI agent you just can't trust. Will she be able to keep herself and her grandmother safe and find what she needs to save her life.
Michelina and Luca well we have two people that are both hiding secrets. Michelina has had a normal life for most of her life. She is sweet and a bit naive at the beginning of the book but she really changes and becomes a feisty strong woman who doesn't trust anyone. She really puts up a fight when it comes to all the men around her trying to tell her what to do. Luca well he is one of those men who you think you should trust but he has a underlying menace about him. He comes off gruff and grouchy but there is a deeper distrust coming from him. You don't know if the sexy FBI agent can be trusted or not.  Both of these characters  you want to smack every now and then but they do kind of redeem themselves in some ways. Which makes them complex for us readers.
This is the first book in a brand new series and the author really takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride . You really don't know who you can trust through out the book the character are well written and complex.  The book is fast paced with lots of intrigue and the twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat. It does end on a cliff hanger and I can't wait to read the second book I really want to know what comes from the black books and will they all survive. So if you want a good new series check it out , this author can really write tortured souls and their redemption.
