HAPPY FRIDAY ALL

Well its Friday and it is also Black Friday . If you are not out getting the good deals and want to stay home I have a really good book for you . ZOMBIES ON THE BLOCK  by Mike Evans .

                            BOOK BLURB

When the flu season struck America it impaired the population crippling what the collected power of the people were capable of doing to fight the outbreak. Unfortunately, it was not the same for everyone. There were three types of people. The first had no diseases, the second had the flu, and the third were busy fostering a zombie virus that was going to bring the nation to its knees.

This story isn't about heroes, there are no guarantees. This is a story about Mike and his family, and what they have to endure to survive. If they want to see another day they are going to need the help of their neighbors and friends.

The situations leaving the main characters in the depths of hell are only outweighed by the comical situations that they get put in. There's no telling what or who is going to survive. Those that survive must fight or flight and in some cases do both. Civilization will be something new when dawn's light falls on the Earth for the second day of the apocalypse.

                            MY REVIEW
When the flu strikes America , crippling most of the population . There were three types of people , ones that didn't get sick , those that just had the flu and then there were those that well lets just say turned into zombies . There aren't winners or losers in outbreak everyone is a potential zombie . This is a story of a neighbourhood that are going to fight with everything they have . There is no way to know if they are going to survive till next week or even survive the next 24 hours . They may be in the middle of hell on earth but sometimes there is nothing to do but laugh . Will the family survive and find their way around the apocalypse .

The characters in this story are hilariously written . The author has used members of his own family as characters . They are well written and fun to read. Each neighbour in the neighbour hood has quirks and foibles that will have you laughing all the way through the apocalypse . I will have to say my favourite characters and the grandparents . They are funny and they also kick some butt to get to their kids and grand kids . Also another real great character is Holly , Tony's girlfriend , I honestly hope she kicks butt for a long time .

This book is a fun filled zombie book . The author writes zombies with such a flair and in this book he has added more tongue in cheek sassiness.  The story is well written and the characters are well written and hilarious .  I like how the author takes us on a ride from the very first chapter . You honestly feel like you are there fighting right along side of them and you really want them to survive . There are moments that will have you laughing out loud and moments where you will be oh oh run fast . There is one thing I wish the story was just a little bit longer and the characters were just a little bit more flushed out . Over all I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for next book in the series . Check out for your black Friday reading .

GOOD WEDNESDAY ALL

Good Wednesday all today I have an interesting book for you , THE DEEP  by Rivers Solomon

                            BOOK BLURB

The water-breathing descendants of African slave women tossed overboard have built their own underwater society—and must reclaim the memories of their past to shape their future in this brilliantly imaginative novella inspired by the Hugo Award–nominated song “The Deep” from Daveed Diggs’s rap group clipping

Yetu holds the memories for her people—water-dwelling descendants of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard by slave owners—who live idyllic lives in the deep. Their past, too traumatic to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one—the historian. This demanding role has been bestowed on Yetu.

Yetu remembers for everyone, and the memories, painful and wonderful, traumatic and terrible and miraculous, are destroying her. And so, she flees to the surface, escaping the memories, the expectations, and the responsibilities—and discovers a world her people left behind long ago.

Yetu will learn more than she ever expected to about her own past—and about the future of her people. If they are all to survive, they’ll need to reclaim the memories, reclaim their identity—and own who they really are.

Inspired by a song produced by the rap group Clipping for the This American Life episode “We Are In The Future,” The Deep is vividly original and uniquely affecting.

                         MY REVIEW
Yetu holds the memories of her people , a tribe of underwater dwellers coming from the pregnant slave woman thrown over board from the slave ships . The only one that can remember is the historian and that falls on Yetu. Even though those memories are slowly destroying her . She flees to the surface to find the world that they left behind so long ago. Where she will learn more about her past and also about the future of her people .

I had mixed feeling about the characters in this book . Yetu is a complicated character and honestly sometimes she was just a little bit hard to understand. She is strong and wants no more to be the memory keeper . We see her grow when she comes to the surface .

I honestly didn't realize that this book is written from a song. The author does take us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions . The characters are well written and you will either like Yetu or dislike her but she does grow on you. I just wish that the author would of built up the story and characters just a little more . I felt like it just fell flat in a few parts and it kind of dragged in those areas . Over all i enjoyed the book and the ideas of what a transaltantic slave trade was like and how harsh it was . If you like a good story on the history of merpeople and how they came into being , check it out .

WELCOME TO THE CURSE OF THE BLACK CAT

Good Tuesday all , I hope your week is going good and if you are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend you are getting ready . Today I have a new author to introduce you to and her book . THE CURSE OF THE BLACK CAT by Lou Wilham

                            BOOK BLURB

Alrik has two choices: Spend eternity eating mice, or learn to accept himself for who he is.

As his eighteenth birthday draws near, prince Alrik—heir to the throne of Edan—must choose a wife. But when his first kiss with a beautiful princess leaves him feeling cold, he knows that although it is his duty, he cannot love a woman. In a fit of panic, he seeks out the aid of the witch Gwydion. The witch, however, has other plans.
After hundreds of years as a cat, Alrik must learn to accept himself and who he loves or face the rest of eternity as a cat. Luckily, New York City’s dumpsters are ripe for the picking. With food from around the world to choose from, he finds himself drawn to one restaurant in particular.
Crystal Tokyo—a restaurant specializing in Japanese food—is Yuuki’s first big job as a chef, and he loves it. So, what happens when Yuuki decides to befriend the black cat hanging out in Crystal Tokyo’s back alley?
This story is perfect for fans of Rainbow Rowell's Simon Snow Series, Ashley Poston's The Princess and the Fangirl, and A.W. Jantha's Hocus Pocus.

                          MY REVIEW
Alrik is a prince and turning eighteen, when he first kisses a young princess and feels nothing he must decide if it right to marry her . He runs off and with the help of Witch Gwydion , who like any witch has a plan of her own . Be a cat for a hundred years and learn to love himself as he is or stay a cat for eternity. After he finds himself in New York where there is food in every dumpster he is drawn to a Japanese restaurant and to the young chef . Who takes a liking to the little black cat and befriends him . What will happen when the truth comes out and will the curse be lifted and they find the love they both need .

This is a truly sweet story the characters are well written and you will care for them deeply. Alrik is a sweet guy who is scared of what would happen in his life if he takes duty over love. He does have a shy streak and you will like him from the beginning . Yuuki is a sensitive guy who you will instantly fall in love with . He is a hard working and wants to be loved the way he should be loved . Both characters are sensitive and sweet . There are moments where you just wanted to wrap both of them up in a blanket and love them back to happiness . There is some bad people that come into both their lives . I wont tell you what happens but you will want to hug them both so much afterwards . But I think my favourite character is Gwydion . She is one hilarious witch , she does such fun things to get the boys together .

This is a short read that you can read in an evening . The author has written a sweet and funny story about two lost souls finding themselves and each other . Their interactions both as cat and man and man and man are sweet . The story is a read that you can read in an evening . I really enjoyed the story and the characters and I had a smile on my face the whole time reading . The story flowed well and the characters are well written .  So if you want a sweet romance with some magic entwined check out this story . You will not be disappointed .

WELCOME FINALLY TO FRIDAY

Woohoo we made it to Friday . Today I have a new release for you by Robbie Cox . BEAR NECESSITIES ( the Bull Creek Chronicles book 3 )

                            BOOK BLURB

An mission that haunts him, a little girl who needs him, and a stranger who won’t leave him alone.

Existing isn’t living, but for Ezra Havlin, existing is enough. Once a member of Para-Force, Ezra was in the midst of the action, adventure around every corner as the paranormal special ops team protected those unable to protect themselves. That is, until one mission went sideways, and a child in his custody was murdered.

On the outskirts of Bull Creek, Josh Rayburn discovers a hermit living off the bare necessities of life, if that could be called living. Now, Josh is determined to bring this sullen hermit into the Bull Creek family whether the man wants it or not.

However, for Ezra, the past returns with a gut punch when members of the Para-Force team arrives with another case and a another child. Can Josh convince Ezra that people are a vital part of the Bear Necessities of life in time to save the little girl’s life?

                           MY REVIEW
When Ezra Havlin is trying forget the mission that almost got him killed and killed the young girl he was suppose to protect . Now living off the land and not wanting anyone around . When Josh Rayburn finds him , he does his best to get Ezra into Bull Creek . Without a lot of success until the day that the para - force invades his space with another case and another child that needs to be saved . Will Josh be able to convince  Ezra to come into the community and help save the girl .

I love the characters in this book,  Ezra is a grouchy bear that has been through a really bad trauma that has shaped him . He is actually a sweet guy under it all .The rest of the para force is back and trying to save a young girl .  You will fall in love with all of these characters and the town that takes in those that need to get lost to be found.

This is a fast read and you will sucked into the story the characters are well written . The author takes us back Bull Creek and its cast of characters .  The story is complex and you will be wanting to hug Ezra and then you will want to slap him upside the head because he is so pig headed . This is an emotional story that will have you wanting more from him and the rest of Bull Creek . I love these stories and I can't wait to see what the author does in the next installment . I am hoping crossing fingers we get a Colton story sometime . So if you want a emotional read with lots of snarkiness and sass . Oh and a possessed or not possessed doll this is the story for your winter reading list .

WELCOME TO THURSDAY

Well made it to Thursday , hope your week is going great and those getting ready for Thanksgiving . Today I have the sixth book in the Lily Harper series . NO GOING BACK  by H.P Mallory.

                           BOOK BLURB

What’s the worst place in The Underground City? How about the Ninth Level, the Morgue?

After Lily Harper narrowly escapes the clutches of Alaire, the Master of the Underground City, she finds herself on the back of a winged Fury in the middle of the ninth circle, The Morgue, and she’s not sure where to go.

Tallis has been left to his own defenses in the eighth level, The Asylum, and Bill is MIA. Lily has no idea how to find either one of them or where to even start.

After she gets attacked mid-air, Lily finds an unconventional ally in the form of Manfred Albrecht Freiherr, otherwise known as the Red Baron. Manfred informs Lily that a civil war is brewing in the Ninth Level between a legion of rebel demons and the old-world order.

Lily finds herself smack-dab in the middle of this war, a war that’s encouraged by Alaire because, as usual, he wants something…

All Lily wants is to make sure her friends are safe but in so doing, she’ll find herself thrown into the thick of it where she’ll be forced into the fight of her life.

NO GOING BACK is the sixth book in the bestselling Lily Harper Series.

                             MY REVIEW
Welcome to the ninth circle of hell or as the people in the underground city call it the morgue. Lily is trying to find her way out with the help of a fury . She just doesn't know how to get out . Tallis is in his own kind of hell in the eight circle or as some like to call it the Asylum and well angel Bill is just gone MIA  and poor Lily doesn't know how to save either of them . Then when Lily ends up smack dab in the middle of a war all because Alaire wants something of her . Will she survive and will Tallis and Bill find her before its too late

The characters in this series just get better and better . Tallis is well he is just one sexy Scotsman . I love his no nonsense approach to things and how he will fight to get back to Lily and keep fighting . Lily is one strong woman she has been through so much and now she is harbouring a new entity in her body that is fighting to get out . She really does a good job keeping him under control . And then there is Bill , I love him , he is a hoot . He is kind of a foul mouthed angel who is always there to help out if needed . I truly love theses characters and have a big crush with Tallis . Yes I know but still the brogue is so sexy . You will love them too .

This is a fast read for me , I snuggled down and read it in an evening . The author has woven such a great story and universe that the story inhabits . I like the fact it feels like an updated Dante's inferno with the new levels that they are fighting through. The author throws in a few historical characters in this book that are there to help Lily out . I won't tell you who but you will laugh your butt off when you read them .  This is a great read and you should add it to your winter reading list . This series is so fun to read  and you will snort and sigh and maybe fall in love .

WELCOME TO WEDNESDAY

Well it is Wednesday, and we are all going to start getting ready for Christmas . Today I have a new book by Pepper Winters . THE BODY PAINTER .

                            BOOK BLURB

“Must be slim, able to stand for long periods of time, and be impervious to the cold.”

The headline caught my attention.

“Hours are negotiable, pay is minimal, clothing absolutely forbidden.”

The second line piqued my curiosity.

“Able to hold your bladder and tongue, refrain from opinions or suggestions, and be the perfect living canvas.”

The third made me scowl.

“Other attributes required: non-ticklish, contortionist, and obedient. Must also enjoy being studied while naked in a crowd.”

The fourth made me shudder.

“Call or email ‘YOUR SKIN, HIS CANVAS’ if interested in applying.”

The final made my heart race.

I should’ve kept scrolling past the advertisement.
I should’ve applied for the boring receptionist job at minimum wage.
I should’ve clicked on any other job where I got to keep my clothes on.
But I didn’t.
I applied.
My interview is tomorrow…

                         MY REVIEW
When Olin answers an ad in the newspaper for a body canvas . She should of just kept scrolling . Gil is the boy that got away and when she sees him again . Things become intense and not in a good way .  Will they be able to get back to what they had or will the past be too much to bare.

Ok first off before you all start yelling at me . I truly like this author and her Tears of Tess series . This book however is not on my radar for her . I felt the characters were not up to the standards of her last books . Olin was a really wishy washy character . All she does is whine through out the book She is one dimensional and to me has no substance . Gil is a brooding guy who yeah he has been hurt but know what suck it up and become the man. They are an ok couple .

The repetition in this book drove me crazy , I seriously think that the book could of been pared down and the story would of flowed better .  I feel like the author rushed this book and Over all the plot of the story is great but the execution was just a little off . Don't get me wrong  you might like the book but it isn't one of my favourites .  Check it out if you like and let me know what you think.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY ROBYN PETERMAN

Good Monday all , today is release day for book 5 in her Sea Shenanigans PETUNIA'S PANDEMONIUM .

                           BOOK BLURB

Mix one part Mermaid—one part Genie. Throw in an intoxicated God of the Sea and and a few smack-talking Pirates. What have you got?
Pandemonium.
Petunia’s Pandemonium to be more accurate.

Petunia
Letting the ocean current take me where it may for the last twenty-five years hasn’t worked out so great. So, instead of getting my tail in a knot, I’m making some swimmingly simple changes.
—Stay on Mystical Isle with my cousins who love me.
—Avenge my parents and eliminate the sea monster who’s wreaking havoc.
—Forget about the gorgeous, no-good Genie who left me at the altar… so to speak.
—Stay away from Genies until the end of time.
—Join Poseidon’s embarrassingly named online dating service for Immortals and get back into the game.
What could go wrong?

Del
I’m a Genie in a bottle baby. Or at least I was. After spending a quarter of a century, doing time for streaking at the Super Bowl after being destroyed by love, I’m a free man. It’s time to get my life together and forget about the Mermaid who didn’t want me. The list is simple.
—Stop granting wishes to idiots.
—Figure out why the Genie Star Fire Light in my eyes is burning out before I die a slow agonizing death.
—Eat an outstanding cheeseburger.
—Stay away from Mermaids.
—Join Poseidon’s embarrassingly named online dating service for Immortals and get back into the game.
It’s a plan. Not necessarily a stellar one, but it’s a plan.

Come for the Vacation. Stay for the Shenanigans!

                      MY REVIEW
Welcome back to the beach where the mermaids and the pirates run the paradise trap for the humans. Petunia is out to avenge her parents death and try to forget the genie that stood her up on their wedding day . Well one is easier to do then the other . That Genie is harder to forget then she thought. When she signs up for Posiedens dating site to find the woman who killed her parents. She finds more then she bargained for when Del the genie that broke her heart walks back in . Will they get past the hurt that happened and remember how much they truly love each other .

The gang is back and reeking havoc all over the Bermuda triangle. Petunia is hanging out with her cousins and planing to kill her parents killers . She is such a fun character to read . She is feisty and a little homicidal but there is a part of her is a wanderer . Del is the man who broke Petunias heart, he is a mischief making Genie who has been banned to his bottle for 25 years after a bad stunt gone wrong . He is hot and sexy but also is sweet and just wants to find his girl . They are such a hot couple, I truly like them together . Upton is back as Petunia's best friend and confidante .  I love him he is so funny and so loving .

Petunia's and Dels story is sweet and full of misunderstandings on each of their parts .  The author takes us on a fun filled ride through out the book . I will warn you don't drink anything while you are reading this book you might just spit it out because of the laughter. The characters are well written , but I felt like they weren't just as complex as the other characters in this series . There was just a few things that stopped me from giving it a 5 star. I wish the author would of added a bit more to the story brought out more of the miscommunication between the main characters . It just felt a little rushed to me . Don't get me wrong I loved the book and the characters I just wish there was more . Over all I love this series and can't wait for more . So add this book and series to your winter reading list for laughs and love this series is great

ITS THE PERFECT WEEKEND TO READ

Good Saturday all , today is snowy and cool out so a great day to cuddle up with a good book and a cup of tea . Today I have a book for you that will make you think of what would happen if . Check out NOT GUILTY by C.Lee Mckenzie

                            BOOK BLURB

"NOT GUILTY is a compelling, engrossing, and ultimately uplifting and rewarding read. I couldn't tear myself away!"
—Cheryl Rainfield, author of Scars, Stained, Hunted and Parallel Visions.

A blood-smeared knife. One young man’s word against another. A lifetime dream crushed.

The evidence points to Devon Carlyle. He was there when it happened. Everyone knows he had it in for Renzo Costa. And Costa says Devon was the one. In the judge’s rap of a gavel Devon’s found guilty of assault. The star of the Oceanside High’s basketball team loses his shot at the one thing he’s worked so hard for—the championship game where college scouts could see how good he is.

Now he makes his great shots in Juvenile Hall with kids far different from those that have always been in his life.
Angry? Hell, yes.

He’s bent on finding who did the crime. He’s bent on making them pay because he’s Not Guilty.

But can he prove it?

                             MY REVIEW
Welcome back to Oceanside high school . Devon Carlyle has it all , he is on his way to a scholarship and has the perfect girlfriend . Until one day everything has changed and he is charged with assault against Renzo Costa . With one rap of the judge's gavel Devon's life is changed forever . When in juvenile detention Devon finds out who his real friends are and makes a vow to find out who really did it . When he gets out he will try and prove it .

Welcome back to high school . I found these characters to be well written and honestly reminded me of some people I knew in high school . Devon is the jock and basically has the world by the toes . He comes off as arrogant at the start of the book . Everyone loves him for one thing or another and his self esteem is wrapped up in all things basketball and being the number one on the team. You see him truly grow up and become a more rounded person. There are so many characters in this book that either help Devon or make him feel like he doesn't belong . From his perfect friends at school who truly show their true colours . Colin was his best friend and when push came to shove Colin and the rest of the gang turned against Devon . In true clique fashion they shun him .

This is a book that will capture your heart and keep you reading . The author wrote a great representation of what high school is truly like and what happens when one of the cool kids ends up on the wrong end of the law .  There are twists and turns through out the book that will have you going hmmmmmmmm. The only thing that made me not give the book a 5 stars is the detective work that Devon was doing , it seemed to actually kind of slow down the story of his come back . I felt that it kind of dragged just a little . Over all I really enjoyed this book and was cheering for Devon as he redeemed himself . I love the way the author did the family dynamic after he came out of detention and the aftermath . This is a book that you and your teen will enjoy reading. So add this book to your winter reading list

                         MY REVIEW
Welcome back to the eighth grade , Parker Mills is living a great life, two time winner of the Miss Divine Pecan pageant and the head of the dance committee . She is also a empath .      The characters are well written ,Parker is sweet and kind and sometimes she comes of naïve when she does some of the things she does .  Avery is the perfect best friend  she is feisty and will stand up to anyone wanting to hurt her friends . Deshawn well he is the sweet calm guy with a heart of gold . Ethan is the rebel of the group. Mia is sweet but also so lost and depressed . Together they are a great group of friends .

This is a sweet story of friends who are there for each other good and bad, they all have a combined secret powers that have bonded them . The author takes us on a fun filled ride through high school .                       MY REVIEW
Tanya Koziov is stuck , owned by the mob and used to trap unwanted men in black mail . She is on her way to New Orleans to black mail a billionaire . When she arrives things change for her and the man in a white linen suit . Charles Dugan . He decides to help her out and keep her safe while trying to bring down the people that are blackmailing him . There is more to this then meets the eye . They fall for each other and want to keep each other safe will their love survive or is she worth the risk.

There are so many players in this book , the main characters are well written and you will care for them . Tanya is a naive woman who has been taken and made to work for a evil man as a prostitute and a pawn in blackmail schemes . She is scared most of the time and looking over shoulder . As the story goes she becomes stronger and more confidante .  Charles is well he is shy and reserved and wants to help out but really is reluctant . They are are a good couple .  They become a great power couple .

This is an interesting book, i started it in the evening and couldn't put it down . The characters were well written.  You will be on the edge of your seat through out most of the book . It has the mob and human trafficing and a love story.  There were moments in this book that i felt could of been tightened up a bit and maybe move story along a little faster . I wish that the author would of went more in depth into the human trafficking aspect of the story .   Over all  I did enjoy the book and would like to read more by this author . If you want a sexy read for a winter read .

                             MY REVIEW
After the death of her beloved grandfather , Rylee a shy sixteen year old girl finds a whole new world after moving to rural Texas  She wants to make a fresh start and live in the real world instead of her books . When she meets the cute neighbour boy and his horse . Her interest blossoms into a passion for horses and all thing rodeo.  With her friends help and help from her grandma and the boy that holds her heart Sawyer . She is about to live the adventure of her life and change the relationship with her mom forever.

I was so excited to see a horse book  with characters that are well written.  Rylee is  sweet girl who has been sheltered most of her life . Her mother is over protective and she is a little naive . When she starts with the horses you really see her blossom and come into her own . She really grew as a character . Sawyer is sweet and a gentleman . He really wants Rylee to become her own person . They are so cute when they are together . With the help of her friends she will be transformed .  These characters are so well written  and you will love each and everyone of them .

This book really intrigued me , when I started reading it, I got all the feels . I felt like it was taking me back to childhood . Being that awkward teen that would rather read then be around people . The author has a good grasp on the main characters . There is lots of laughs and a few tears through out this book . The characters were well written and you can connect with them easily . There were a few spots that i feel that fell flat and where the characters just didn't really feel right , I felt that it kind of dragged just a little . Over all i really did enjoy this coming of age story and the fact it had horses in it  mad me very happy. So if you want a good story of one finding oneself through laughter and tears and just maybe fall in love with the boy next door this is the story for you . Check it out you won't be disappointed .

                           MY REVIEW
The day Carrigan met Heath was the worst day of her life but she gained her best friend and her pillar of strength .  The boy next door has become more after ten years of friendship there is more there then both of them realize . There is more going on then teenage angst and hidden love . The secret that Ace carries could destroy all that she and Heath have .

This book has such sweet characters , Carrigan aka Ace is sweet and been through so much in her young life. She is fun loving and sometimes comes of as very naive .  Heath well he kind of drove me crazy , he comes off as an arrogant guy sometimes . He thinks that he knows all sometimes is way too protective . There are just aspects of him that drove me crazy .  I did love Vincent and Rock they are cool guys that help calm both Heath and Ace .  They are your typical teen agers that you will love them and hate them .

I had such promise when i started reading this book . I love best friend to love stories . This story started off with such a bang . The author takes us on an emotional journey . There is so much going on that you will be on the edge of your seat most of the story .  I am glad that the author took her time in writing the sex scenes I mean you could of probably left them out if you wanted to and still get the picture .  There were moments in the book where i felt that I couldn't connect with the main characters . It seemed like the author was trying to write a more mature romance book in some areas . Then went back to the ya aspect of it .  Over all the story was a good story and reminded me of the late 90s teen angst movies .  So if you want an emotional story full of angst and teen age love  check it out .
