IT IS MONDAY

Good Monday morning everyone. Today we are going to review DEATH SONG episode 8 in the NIGHTSHADE CASES by Patti Larsen
Yes we have kind of been on a hiatus from this series for a couple of weeks but I am back and ready to review for you.

BOOK BLURB
A Blues singer is in trouble when the men who come to listen to her perform start dying. But, are they the real targets, or is the woman with the voice of gold the one who should watch her back?

Welcome to The Nightshade Case, a series of twenty-one murder mysteries. Please note: this episodic series is based on the television show model, with screenwriting notations and shorter formats. There will be a complete mystery each release, with cliffhangers only occurring in the full season story line.

MY REVIEW
What can I say about episode 8 besides the fact that Patti blows our socks off yet again I am in love with this series . The books can be read in a couple of hours but they are packed with action and intrigue. You can't wait to see what happens next.
In this episode we see Kinsey break away from the collective and they are not happy about that one. We also find out so much more about the different types of races there are there. Things are starting to fall into place for the girls, The story becomes darker and darker.
Patti does and excellent job of writing all these characters . They may be strong but they also have the vulnerability that makes them so likeable. I find that there are so many shades of grey in the characters and the bad ones may do something bad just cause they need to .
I can't wait to read episode nine which is out now too. Patti is now my favorite author for serial novellas. So if you like reading fun books that have strong female characters that kick some ass on a regular basis  These are the books for you, so check them out

welcome to Saturday all

Welcome to Saturday all. Hope your weekend is going great. This is the perfect for me to do a lot of reading. Well just cause it is getting cooler and its suppose to rain. So great weather to snuggle up and read a great book. Like the one I just finished. THE VINES  by Christopher Rice

BOOK BLURB
The dark history of Spring House, a beautifully restored plantation mansion on the outskirts of New Orleans, has long been forgotten. But something sinister lurks beneath the soil of the old estate.
After heiress and current owner Caitlin Chaisson is witness to her husband’s stunning betrayal at her birthday party, she tries to take her own life in the mansion’s cherished gazebo. Instead, the blood she spills awakens dark forces in the ground below. Chaos ensues and by morning her husband has vanished without a trace and his mistress has gone mad.
Nova, daughter to Spring House’s groundskeeper, has always suspected that something malevolent haunts the old place, and in the aftermath of the birthday party she enlists Caitlin’s estranged best friend, Blake, to help her get to the bottom of it. The pair soon realizes that the vengeance enacted by this sinister and otherworldly force comes at a terrible price.

MY REVIEW
OH MY GOD  is all I can say about this book. Christopher and his book gave me a really bad book hangover. I started this book but had to put it down for a rush review. Then picked this book back up cause it was calling me saying read me . You know you want to read me. So I did as the book told me. Made my big pot of popcorn and snuggled down. Started reading, page after page I read. Oblivious of the time that I was there. You know when you get into a book, you just can't put it down. When I realized that it was well past midnight. I started the book at 3 pm. Honestly didn't realize hubby even came in and fed himself. Yes that is how engrossed I was in the book.
Christopher has us hooked from the very first chapter. You are swept into a story that will chill you and take you to places where you don't want to go. Trust me I am so happy i don't garden. I will get to that soon. The house itself is dark and mysterious.  Set on the outskirts of New Orleans , the house is a restored plantation house that has been owned Caitlin Chasson and her husband. The start of the story has us at a birthday party for Caitlin and she finds her husband having sex with another woman in their bathroom. As she runs out to the gazebo to try and end her life. She ends up waking something evil. This is where chaos breaks out. The vines take Caitlin's pain and goes and does her bidding. This is one of the reasons i am happy that i don't garden.
As you read more into the story, there are layers of the story that you want to  know about. Caitlin's best friend is pulled into the mystery of her husbands disappearance. They find that there is more to the plantation house and the occupants that lived there before them,
I fell in love with the whole concept of Christopher's book. The description of the lush scenery and the history mixed in with today's story line. You are not getting some hokey horror book with this story, There are layers of deceit and homophobia. That will break your heart and make you have a little ugly cry. Christopher will rip out your heart but give it back to you. As you watch each of the characters fight with the sins of their past . Even the sins of the past that went back generations.
You watch each character fight with the realization of the past sins they are a part of.
This was the first book I have read from Christopher and trust me it will not be the last book. If you like Anne's books, you will love Christopher's. He writes with such a flair. So please check it out. I promise you will not be disappointed at all.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE

Good Friday morning everyone. Hope you all are ready for the last weekend in September . where has the time gone. Today I get to review POWER PLAY by Marianne Morea

BOOK BLURB
Tough as nails, Mitch Paris trained with the best, earning a place as second-in-command to the Alpha of the Brethren. Rissa Leighton survived sickness and an unhappy marriage until the fates brought the two of them together. Never one to give up a fight, it's now Mitch's turn to take the lead as alpha of his own pack, but after a ten year absence he returns home with Rissa to the Canadian Northwest Territories to find more than just the landscape has changed. A Blood Challenge has been issued, and not only must he prove his worth but past intrigues raise questions about his future, his new family and a murder that could change the course of their life and love...

MY REVIEW
I was so excited to find out the Mitch and Rissa were getting their own story. I admit that I had a book crush on Mitch fro the other books. He is the second in command and Sean's right hand man. But when its time for him to take control of his pack in Northern Canada. Mitch, Rissa and the kids move up there. But things aren't what they seem , Things have gotten bad and both Mitch and Rissa have to prove their loyalty and worth to the pack.
I fell in love with Marianne's books when I read Blood Legacy, I fell in love, Carlos will always be my first love but Mitch comes in second. I know you are laughing, but you have all done it. So I don't judge . Ok enough babbling about hot men and back to my review.
Marianne loves to take us and put us through a wringer and come out the other side. She doesn't disappoint us in Power Play, there is intrigue mystery , oh yes and the romance. Her characters are so strong. Alpha males all the way. The women in their lives are even stronger and loving to their men.  But don't be fooled by these alpha men. They have their tender sweet side, the best scene was when Stephie hugged Mitch and called him daddy for the first time. I had tears in my eyes it was so sweet.
Marianne loves to take us to the edge and back, her books are packed full of great characters that you will love to hate. You see that sometimes the characters do the wrong things  for the right reasons.  She also loves to give a book hangover, because once you start reading you will not put down until you are done. I was done in one day. She also paints a great picture of northern Canada and the Native ways and traditions . Which being a Canadian girl I was proud of. lol
So if you want a great novella to read this fall. Pick up POWER PLAY. Marianne will not disappoint you at all .
