GOOD MORNING

Good morning my peeps , I hope you all are having a great week. Today I have for you a short story by Genevieve Mckay , PROMISE , A Christmas shorty story.  This one is for all the horse girls out there.

                           BOOK BLURB

Elena Miller made a vow the night her daughter, Hope, died in a tragic accident. She promised to take care of Hope's beloved horse, Pixar, forever. But that isn't easy when Elena can hardly stand looking at the animal who constantly reminds her of the daughter she lost.

Now, nearly two years later, as another lonely Christmas approaches, Pixar needs Elena's help. But, maybe, it's Elena who needs a Christmas miracle to put her shattered life back together again.

                           MY REIVEW
Elena has had a very bad two years after her daughter was killed in a horrible accident . She vowed to take of her horse Pixar. Well in her grief has taken over and Pixar has become an after thought . Until the day she visits the barn and finds out what has been happening with Pixar. She finds that Pixar is just as sad as she is . After moving barns she comes to realize that they need each other but can she bring herself to look after the horse that brings back all the memories of her daughter .  Will they be able to heal themselves as they heal each other.

This is one of those short books that will take you and actually put you through the ringer. Elena is so broken , she just can't come to terms with what happened to her daughter. She is so deep in her sorrow that she doesn't see a way out . You really just want to hug her and tell her everything will be ok . Pixar is also so broken and for a horse that brokenness comes out in back behavior. They both need to learn to trust again in themselves and in each other . They both grow and start to heal with each other . They are well written characters and yes I did fall in love with Pixar.

This is just one of those short novellas that will have you shedding a few tears and cheering as the main characters start to heal. The author does a good job bringing the angst and the love out . I read this in an hour and kind of used it as a palette cleanser between bigger books . I was pleasantly surprised and like this authors writing . So if you want a short read for a stormy afternoon check it out.

GOOD MORNING ALL

Good morning my peeps , January is chugging right along on the farm and have had plenty of time to read and read i did . Today I have for you SILK SKULLDUGGERY book 40 in the Haven Hollow series by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain.

                          BOOK BLURB

So, imagine my surprise and excitement when Lorcan and I attend an auction in Seattle, and I become the proud owner of the most beautiful silk that just happens to be a few hundred years old.

And I know just what I’m going to make with it.

Yes, there’s a protection spell safeguarding the silk from any sort of damage, but my blood magic will make quick work of that.

As soon as my shears cut through the silk, though, it ages immediately, and I’m left with nothing but fraying and yellowed scraps.

Not only that, but strange things start happening in Haven Hollow.

First, there’s a random death for no apparent reason. Then, one of the neighbors who witnessed that death becomes sick as well.

And he’s not the only one.

Fairly soon, people are becoming completely drained of energy and vitality and I’m pretty sure there’s a paranormal reason behind it.

And I have a sneaking suspicion that beautiful silk has something to do with it…

                        MY REVIEW
Welcome back to the Hollow , Wanda and Lorcan are heading out for a weekend get away where Lorcan has a surprise for her . An auction of magical things where Wanda finds the silk of her dreams. She is dreaming of what she can make with this beautiful fabric. Until she gets back to her shop. When she sees the fabric it is decaying fast and then things start to go wonky in town. People are becoming drained of energy and loosing their vitality. After witnessing a death Poppy falls ill and it is up to Wanda to figure out what is going on and she is figuring that her silk might have some thing to do with it. Can she figure it out before all of Haven Hollow is destroyed and also figure out what is going on with Lorcan.

Ok Wanda and Lorcan are back and actually funnier than ever. Wanda is still your strong willed witch that really has trouble asking for help. But, she is actually softening because of Lorcan he is her rock and her best friend even though sometimes she doesn't want to admit it. They are good together and they will make you laugh. Poppy and the gang are back and funnier than ever . They are such well written characters, and you so fall in love with them each and every time .

This is such a fun series to read, the authors just make each book a fun capsule of what could be going on any given day in a magical town. Each character grows with each book and man they just get funnier and funnier and you love them more and more . You could read this alone but it would be better if you start the whole series to get to know everyone. Check it out

GOOD MORNING

Good morning my peeps , today I have for you books 8 and 9 in the Dragonfly Cove Dog park series.

Book 8 TEACHERS PET by David Johnson and book 9 A NEW LEASH ON LIFE by Patricia Sands.

BOOK 8                     BOOK BLURB

Sadie is a bright-blonde Labrador puppy, content and happy to spend her days sleeping, eating, and playing with her seven siblings. But her world is turned upside down when she’s given to the oldest human she has ever met. Confused at first, she soon decides she’s supposed to watch out and take care of the human named Dorothy who proves to be quite a handful.

Dorothy is a sixty-six-year-old retired schoolteacher from Nashville, Tennessee, who has never been married but has nineteen children. At least, that’s what she tells everyone.

Dorothy and Sadie quickly bond with each other, leaving both feeling content. Things change, though, when Dorothy receives an unexpected letter in the mail, a letter she refuses to open for over a week because it’s from Harliss Abernathy, the man who left her standing at the altar fifty years ago.

In the midst of trying to decide what to do about the letter, a young woman, Hope Rodriguez, shows up with an ulterior motive. Try as she might, Dorothy tries to point Hope in a direction that will lead her away from her seedy-looking boyfriend, not knowing she’s putting herself at risk by doing so.

Will she open the letter? What does it say?
Will Hope Rodriguez harm Dorothy?
How will Sadie help Dorothy navigate these prickly situations?

                        MY REVIEW
Dorothy is a retired school teacher that is another transplant to Dragonfly Cove. Who is the next person to adopt a puppy from Leslie, a beautiful little girl named Sadie. They bond quite quickly and they are both content with the little life they have. Until the day a letter shows up from a man she never thought she would hear from ever again. The man who left her at the alter so many years ago. And if that didn't make you go hmmmm enter Hope Rodriguez a young woman who well can't be trusted, you can't really trust her.  Will Dorothy finally find the happiness she deserves and the friends that will be there for her through thick and thin.

Dorothy is one of these characters that you know you have met in your life. A retired teacher whose whole life was her children she has taught. She comes off as the grouchy neighbour but deep down inside she has a heart of gold. We find out that she has been through a lot of trauma when she was younger that has shaped her. We also get to see her grow and become part of a family of dog owners She handles each problem with grace even when it sets her back a bit. She is very strong and loving. Sadie is one of those puppies that know when her owner needs her and she is there for her to offer comfort but she also knows when people are there to hurt Dorothy and will protect her.

This is the book that will take you on an emotional roller coaster . It is a little longer than the other books in the series . The author has written a very emotional  journey of acceptance and a second chance at romance with a dash of intrigue. The characters are well written and fit into the dog park family quite well . This one gave me all the emotions and it was such a good read couldn't put it down .

BOOK 9                  BOOK BLURB

With the help of of PSA’s, Libby was able to continue being a librarian at the elementary school. Evenings and weekends were devoted to Don until it was no longer possible to care for him. Life’s surprises often remind us that beauty lies in unpredictability, and that the best experiences often come in ways we never imagined.

                         MY REVIEW
Libby is a hardworking librarian and care giver to her husband Don who was diagnosed with early onset dementia.  She took care of him for over three years until she could no longer.  When retirement came Libby thought she would be able to have free time and maybe travel a little. But when her son phones and asks her to take care of their puppy while they are in Australia for work. When she meets Chance the sweet little puppy, she is drawn to him and is ready to see what this little boy can do.  They go on an adventures that show how much fun life can be .

Libby is one of those characters that you see and instantly have an awe for her . She has worked hard and taken care of her husband and family. She keeps herself busy with friends and family . When she meets Chance and things change for everyone. She know how it feels when you loose someone. She is a sweet woman with a heart as big as you can imagine. Chance is the sweetest little guy and loves to bring everyone together .

This is the final story in the series and honestly one of the sweetest stories . You really get to feel what the characters are going through all the way through the story. The author is a new author to me so I am going to check out her other books . This series will make you laugh. cry and believe that dogs are heaven sent to give us unconditional love and understanding.

In a heartwarming tale of forgiveness, understanding, and the power of coming home, Nora discovers that healing is possible, even in the face of deep wounds.

                          MY REVIEW
Nora is a transplant to Dragonfly Cove, taking possession of her mother's last gift to her. A quaint little cottage. Trying to get over the loss of her mother and the end of her marriage. She is out to start over again. She is determined to fix the relationship with her son after years of her husband poisoning him against her. She decides to get a puppy to help her with the loneliness. Charlie comes into her life and helps her start to heal . When out with Charlie she meets her neighbour a sweet man who is a landscaper and friend. Together with the friends from the dog park she is out to fix her problem with her son and repair her life and start over again.
Nora has gone through so much when we meet her, you see her at her worst and not knowing what she should do. When she meets Charlie her life gets so much more exciting . She is such a sweet character that you just want to wrap up and hug her tight. Lance is a sweet man who is easy on the eyes . He is the ray of sunshine in her grief and such a good friend . I really like them together as friends and romantic pair. Her son William is well he is just so confused and so mean, he has actually no redeeming qualities on how he treats his mother. You really just want to slap him and knock some sense into his head. He does kind of redeem himself but boy does he have a long ways to go in that department. These characters are so well written you really get to watch them evolve into the best that they are.
Reading this book is like coming home to our favourite people and their puppies . Each book is diverse and shows a group of friends that were brought together by all having a puppy. This book is actually one that made me sad and kind of angry with some of the characters. Like any good book the author may put her characters through a lot but they are redeemed at the end. They are fast reads that will have you reading through the cold snap.

BOOK 7                        BOOK BLURB

Unleashed Melody, by award-winning author Julie Carobini, is the seventh book in the Dragonfly Cove Dog Park Series. But when her beloved dog brings them together in unexpected ways, Melody and Ethan soon discover that her playful pup just may be nudging them toward an … undeniable connection.

                          MY REVIEW
Melody Fisher is in Dragonfly Cove for a new start, she is trying to heal from a horrible breakup. When she starts her job she is doing well until she starts butting heads with widowed boss, Ethan Reed . Melody and Willow must try and find a way to make sure the inn is running smoothly and her ideas to fix the inn and not step on Ethan's toes . Willow will bring them together in more ways than one. They will find out their way into each others hearts with a tail wag or two to help them out.
Melody is a sweet woman who has been through so much and she just wants to be of use at what she does best run an inn. She is so good at her job but she is also so frustrated with what to do. Ethan is well he needs a big hug and someone to listen to him for just a min. He is angry and frustrated he wants to start life again after his wife's death but just doesn't know how to do it . Willow is the cutest little one out there and she is a great little helper ever . These characters are so well written and you can just see them slowly fall in love
This is a story of second chance at love and this author can write a really good tale. Another story that will have you crying and laughing through out the whole book .  So lets head to the dog park.
