GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE

Good Monday morning everyone . I hope you all had a fabulous weekend . Today we are going to review THE BOOK OF NONSENSE .( FORBIDDEN BOOKS 1) by David Michael Slater

                             BOOK BLURB
Before there were books, there were Words of Power, and those who spoke them could rule the world…

Dexter and Daphna Wax don’t quite fit in, even with each other. She loves reading and he loathes it, but neither is pleased by their “special” thirteenth birthday gift: a ruined old book full of nonsense.

But the moment it enters the twins’ lives, bizarre things begin to happen. Why is their father, who found the book, suddenly so distant? Is the old man who took it from him some kind of hypnotist? Why is a giant, red-eyed boy stalking them?

Now Dex and Daphna have to work together to stop the old man from ruining their lives. But as they unravel the secrets of The Book of Nonsense, they will discover the truth about their own extraordinary destiny.

                                         MY REVIEW
Welcome to the world of lost languages, rare books and scary men who want to control everything .  Welcome to the Book of Nonsense, the first book in the Forbidden book series . We are introduced to Dex  and Daphna a set of twins , they are as different as night and day . Dahpna is a book lover and Dex well not so much. He loathes it to be exact. They are thrown into a mystery when their father brings home a very rare book that the dealer at the new book store wants really bad . They have to work together so they can figure out the book of nonsense and unravel the clues that will show them the destiny that they are about to embark on.
I honestly can say that when I started reading this book I got sucked in right away . Being an avid reader I knew what Daphna felt like walking into the book store and how she felt when she read . There is nothing like a good book. The story takes off when their father brings home a rare book and shows it to Asterius Rash a very creepy and I mean creepy book dealer. But there is more to Asterius then meets the eye.  As you read more into the book you see that Asterius wants the twins to read for him and he uses some sort of mind control over their father and Emmett . The big strapping boy that is constantly following and spying on them. There are great clues hidden within the book about what lays ahead for the twins . They aren't done with Asterius and the book .
The characters are very well developed and complex. We have the twind Daphna an Dex who are on the verge of becoming teenagers and have their own problems . But. when push comes to shove they love each other and work together. Dahpna is a sweet but tough girl who wants to follow in her father's footsteps and Dex well he is the type of kid that could get into trouble at the drop of a hat but when push comes to shove he is there for his family. The author also has written about dyslexia and how Dex handles it. I thought that part was handled very well and added to the book and why Dex hated reading so much.
Asterius Rash is one of those characters that well for a lack of a better word could scare the pants right off of you . You know that there is something evil about him as you read but you just don't know how evil he can actually be. As you read you see him become the true evil that you know he is .There is a great supporting cast to help Dahpna and Dex out as they fight the evil that is coming .
This is such a good book for tor any pre teen in your life.  The twists and turns will keep them reading well into the night . The story is well developed and flows great . You see the good versus evil aspect through out the book . It runs along the same line as INKHEART about rare books . As you read this book you will get sucked into a world of magic and good triumphing over evil. You will cheer for Dahpna and Dex and you will want to read more . I am going to buy this book for my teen age nieces and nephews as gifts. Let them find out all about the BOOK OF NONSENSE  for themselves . I think this would make a great chirstmas gift for any teen or pre teen book lover . So check it out
