Sorry I have been not around for a bit , its been busy on the farm between reading and getting ready for Christmas its been awhile. Today I have for you book 4 in the Daughters of the Moon series THE LOVERS by Hp Mallory,
BOOK BLURB
KATE
After I made the terrible decision to become a Daughter of the Moon, I didn’t think things could get much worse. But now they are worse. Way, way worse.
When Ezra Blackthorn’s Army of Shadows attacks, I get airlifted by what looks like a pterodactyl (and I’m pretty sure its claws feel comparable) and find myself imprisoned in a place called The Obsidian. And The Obsidian is about as welcoming as the name might imply. Soon I meet Ezra who also happens to be public enemy #1. While Ezra looks about as intimidating as a high school math teacher before his morning coffee, Ezra’s bite is lots worse than his bark. At least I’m not alone here—in a place that looks like it was decorated by Hades. Valerian is here too. And I’m still trying to figure out whose side he’s on—Ezra’s, ours or his own… Oh, yeah, and we’re both trying to escape, because I have a feeling we won’t like the plans Ezra has in store for us. If that weren’t enough to ruin a girl’s day, I’ve just been tasked with my next tarot mission—that of The Lovers. Right. While I’m in the middle of attempting to escape Mordor, my aunt Artemis wants me to learn some crap about love and relationships. Between dodging Ezra, surviving the Obsidian, and tackling impossible tarot missions, my love life is the least of my problems… but knowing my luck, it’s probably the one that’ll get me killed.
MY REVIEW
Kate and the gang are back and trying to figure out who she can trust. When Ezra finally finds them Kate is taken to Obsidian where she is given the new tarot card of the lovers. Now while she is trying to figure what she is to learn from the card and what to do with Ezra and Valerian and what side he is actually on. Now will she figure out how to get out of the jail and the lesson that Aunt Artemis is trying to teach her at the same time .
Kate well she is really stuck between a rock and a hard place this time around. The evil is coming she isn't really ready. She does a lot of procrastinating and well just trying to figure out how to get out of being a daughter of the moon. When she is taken she just sits there and feels sorry for herself for a bit but then she does realizes its her that will get herself out of the problem that she has gotten herself into. Lessons are learned and alliances are formed. Valerian well you just don't know what to do about him you don't know if you can trust him or not. He is very good looking and has so many secrets . You want to love him but or hate him. We also get to meet Ezra an enemy of the daughters of the moon and he wants Kate. He is like a wolf in sheep's clothing . He can be charming and oh so smooth but deep down he is one scary man. Each character is well written and getting more and more complex with each story. I did wish that we got to see more Yolanda and Rocco in this episode cause they are my all time favorite characters. I mean a sassy talking goat and his shrunken head best friend who wouldn't want to read that.
This is the 4th book in the series and we get to dive a bit deeper into the characters. The story is a fun fast read that we get to see more about them. The author takes us on a fun filled ride. Loving the direction the author is taking the characters and the interactions between them all. I can't wait to see where they are going to end up. A great fun series to read over the Christmas season.
