IT IS MONDAY

Good Monday morning everyone. Today we are going to review DEATH SONG episode 8 in the NIGHTSHADE CASES by Patti Larsen
Yes we have kind of been on a hiatus from this series for a couple of weeks but I am back and ready to review for you.

BOOK BLURB
A Blues singer is in trouble when the men who come to listen to her perform start dying. But, are they the real targets, or is the woman with the voice of gold the one who should watch her back?

Welcome to The Nightshade Case, a series of twenty-one murder mysteries. Please note: this episodic series is based on the television show model, with screenwriting notations and shorter formats. There will be a complete mystery each release, with cliffhangers only occurring in the full season story line.

MY REVIEW
What can I say about episode 8 besides the fact that Patti blows our socks off yet again I am in love with this series . The books can be read in a couple of hours but they are packed with action and intrigue. You can't wait to see what happens next.
In this episode we see Kinsey break away from the collective and they are not happy about that one. We also find out so much more about the different types of races there are there. Things are starting to fall into place for the girls, The story becomes darker and darker.
Patti does and excellent job of writing all these characters . They may be strong but they also have the vulnerability that makes them so likeable. I find that there are so many shades of grey in the characters and the bad ones may do something bad just cause they need to .
I can't wait to read episode nine which is out now too. Patti is now my favorite author for serial novellas. So if you like reading fun books that have strong female characters that kick some ass on a regular basis  These are the books for you, so check them out

welcome to Saturday all

Welcome to Saturday all. Hope your weekend is going great. This is the perfect for me to do a lot of reading. Well just cause it is getting cooler and its suppose to rain. So great weather to snuggle up and read a great book. Like the one I just finished. THE VINES  by Christopher Rice

BOOK BLURB
The dark history of Spring House, a beautifully restored plantation mansion on the outskirts of New Orleans, has long been forgotten. But something sinister lurks beneath the soil of the old estate.
After heiress and current owner Caitlin Chaisson is witness to her husband’s stunning betrayal at her birthday party, she tries to take her own life in the mansion’s cherished gazebo. Instead, the blood she spills awakens dark forces in the ground below. Chaos ensues and by morning her husband has vanished without a trace and his mistress has gone mad.
Nova, daughter to Spring House’s groundskeeper, has always suspected that something malevolent haunts the old place, and in the aftermath of the birthday party she enlists Caitlin’s estranged best friend, Blake, to help her get to the bottom of it. The pair soon realizes that the vengeance enacted by this sinister and otherworldly force comes at a terrible price.

MY REVIEW
OH MY GOD  is all I can say about this book. Christopher and his book gave me a really bad book hangover. I started this book but had to put it down for a rush review. Then picked this book back up cause it was calling me saying read me . You know you want to read me. So I did as the book told me. Made my big pot of popcorn and snuggled down. Started reading, page after page I read. Oblivious of the time that I was there. You know when you get into a book, you just can't put it down. When I realized that it was well past midnight. I started the book at 3 pm. Honestly didn't realize hubby even came in and fed himself. Yes that is how engrossed I was in the book.
Christopher has us hooked from the very first chapter. You are swept into a story that will chill you and take you to places where you don't want to go. Trust me I am so happy i don't garden. I will get to that soon. The house itself is dark and mysterious.  Set on the outskirts of New Orleans , the house is a restored plantation house that has been owned Caitlin Chasson and her husband. The start of the story has us at a birthday party for Caitlin and she finds her husband having sex with another woman in their bathroom. As she runs out to the gazebo to try and end her life. She ends up waking something evil. This is where chaos breaks out. The vines take Caitlin's pain and goes and does her bidding. This is one of the reasons i am happy that i don't garden.
As you read more into the story, there are layers of the story that you want to  know about. Caitlin's best friend is pulled into the mystery of her husbands disappearance. They find that there is more to the plantation house and the occupants that lived there before them,
I fell in love with the whole concept of Christopher's book. The description of the lush scenery and the history mixed in with today's story line. You are not getting some hokey horror book with this story, There are layers of deceit and homophobia. That will break your heart and make you have a little ugly cry. Christopher will rip out your heart but give it back to you. As you watch each of the characters fight with the sins of their past . Even the sins of the past that went back generations.
You watch each character fight with the realization of the past sins they are a part of.
This was the first book I have read from Christopher and trust me it will not be the last book. If you like Anne's books, you will love Christopher's. He writes with such a flair. So please check it out. I promise you will not be disappointed at all.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE

Good Friday morning everyone. Hope you all are ready for the last weekend in September . where has the time gone. Today I get to review POWER PLAY by Marianne Morea

BOOK BLURB
Tough as nails, Mitch Paris trained with the best, earning a place as second-in-command to the Alpha of the Brethren. Rissa Leighton survived sickness and an unhappy marriage until the fates brought the two of them together. Never one to give up a fight, it's now Mitch's turn to take the lead as alpha of his own pack, but after a ten year absence he returns home with Rissa to the Canadian Northwest Territories to find more than just the landscape has changed. A Blood Challenge has been issued, and not only must he prove his worth but past intrigues raise questions about his future, his new family and a murder that could change the course of their life and love...

MY REVIEW
I was so excited to find out the Mitch and Rissa were getting their own story. I admit that I had a book crush on Mitch fro the other books. He is the second in command and Sean's right hand man. But when its time for him to take control of his pack in Northern Canada. Mitch, Rissa and the kids move up there. But things aren't what they seem , Things have gotten bad and both Mitch and Rissa have to prove their loyalty and worth to the pack.
I fell in love with Marianne's books when I read Blood Legacy, I fell in love, Carlos will always be my first love but Mitch comes in second. I know you are laughing, but you have all done it. So I don't judge . Ok enough babbling about hot men and back to my review.
Marianne loves to take us and put us through a wringer and come out the other side. She doesn't disappoint us in Power Play, there is intrigue mystery , oh yes and the romance. Her characters are so strong. Alpha males all the way. The women in their lives are even stronger and loving to their men.  But don't be fooled by these alpha men. They have their tender sweet side, the best scene was when Stephie hugged Mitch and called him daddy for the first time. I had tears in my eyes it was so sweet.
Marianne loves to take us to the edge and back, her books are packed full of great characters that you will love to hate. You see that sometimes the characters do the wrong things  for the right reasons.  She also loves to give a book hangover, because once you start reading you will not put down until you are done. I was done in one day. She also paints a great picture of northern Canada and the Native ways and traditions . Which being a Canadian girl I was proud of. lol
So if you want a great novella to read this fall. Pick up POWER PLAY. Marianne will not disappoint you at all .

TODAY IS AN OMG DAY ON THE BLOG

HAPPY THURSDAY ALL no babbling today just going to get right to it Today I am reviewing THE TIN MAN by Nina Mason

BOOK BLURB
The last thing Alex Buchanan, the editor-in-chief of a formidable news site, expects as he looks around the newsroom at the bodies of his editors, is that he’ll soon be teaming up with The Ball Buster to solve the crime and stay alive. Well, maybe not the last thing. The last thing he expects is to fall for her or any other woman. Because he’s The Tin Man–a suit of armor without a heart.

Or so he believes…

The Ball Buster is his private nickname for Thea Hamilton, a smart, gutsy, and insecure investigative reporter for The New York News, America’s newspaper of record. They went out once years ago–an unmitigated disaster during which she jumped all over his case about smoking.

When events force them together, they embark on an emotion-charged, high-octane quest for the truth, ending up in bed, but also in the clutches of a sociopathic corporate raider. “Zeus” is obsessed with James Bond and owns a hardcore S & M club in an old fallout shelter. Is he the killer? And, if so, what’s his motive? What he hopes to gain by torturing the journalists is clearer: the proof they’ve uncovered of a corporate takeover scheme that threatens the future of democracy. And he’ll stop at nothing to get it.

MY REVIEW
Ok if you know me or are like me  and you like a book full of intrigue, mystery, mass conspiracy an of course romance. This is the book for you.
This is a suspenseful thriller that will take you all over the place. The way things play out in the story you can actually see happening right now in the States. It is kind a eerie how the country is so far away from what the fore fathers thought, The main characters are both reporters who are fighting for the truth. Alex Buchanan, is a weather beaten journalist that is sick and tired of watching the media bending to the pressure from the higher ups and special interest groups. Watering down the news for the public. He has his own on line newspaper. Which is going great guns but he does have a few problems to go along with his fame. The poor man has named himself the Tin Man. because he can't love . There is also a smoking and drinking problem. But after what the poor man went through and no I am not going to tell you what he went through if you want to know that , you have to read the book. Trust me ladies you will be swooning for this sexy Scotsman, you want to hug him and kiss him also you want to just take care of him. Things get even worse for him when he comes back and finds his staff murdered and a gun toting mad man after him. Enter Thea Hamilton an investigative reporter, after her own story. She is on the hunt for her grandfather. Alex runs into her as she is sent to cover the story of the shooting.  See Alex and Thea had a brief encounter a few years back. She yelled at him about his smoking and walked away. Alex calls her the ball buster and Thea calls him the one that got away. They are thrown in together as they hunt for Thea's grandfather and figure out who is trying to kill them. They are running from the gunmen and trying to do get to the bottom of everything .
HOLY HELL is all I can say about this book. You are taken on an adrenaline fueled roller coaster ride. It is a faced paced  and has such good characters that you will not want to put down. The way Nina writes is classic thriller with this book. The book is action packed and flows so well . What I also like about this book, the characters are over the age of 22 and you are like this is so cool . A couple that are older but still can kick ass and take notes. Which I like heehhehehehee
This book is also a real eye opener on how the media has gone either right or left . The way that cooperate has taken over the media. Trust me you will watching your news just a little differently after reading this book. This book is not for the faint of heart either , there are some pretty intense scenes especially where Thea is being tortured, that man Zeus gives me the creeps. Lets just say I will never look a power drill the same way again. Yes you have to read the book to find out about that .
For a book of fiction I will say Nina has hit on some real life issues that are going on right now in the world. I applaud her for taking that in such a way that will make you think. She also does a lot to get the word out for PTSD and the daily struggles that the people go through.
I am going to tell you right now, you need to read this book it is full of intrigue and it will make you think. I will rate it up there with books from other authors like Brad Metzler and Dan Brown. Now come check it out . I know you will not be disappointed. Also be prepared for a book hangover because once you start you will not stop reading until you turn the last page

good Tuesday everyone

Good Tuesday all hope your week is going well. Todays book is THE RESISTANCE by S.L Scott
brought to you by Ashleigh my awesome reviewer, love you girl.

BOOK BLURB
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Book. Standalone Contemporary Romance/Romance Erotica

You don't choose when.

You don't choose where.

And you don't get to choose who you fall in love with.

The minute he opened his sexy mouth, Holliday Hughes should have known Jack Dalton was trouble. His smooth pickup lines, broad shoulders, and ridiculously handsome face charmed her right out of her clothes. She gave into her desires, the instant attraction blinding her to the obvious.

One night. That was all it took for Holliday’s world to be flipped on its axis. Jack Dalton was cocky. Smug. Volatile. Demanding. He ignited something deep inside her like no other, but there was something more to this brooding bad boy. There was a dark side to him she couldn't help but be drawn to.

Torn between what she knew about him and a mysterious side he tried to hide, could she walk away or was he simply too hard to resist?

ASHLEIGH'S REVIEW

“You showed me heaven. And you gave me hell.”
Sometimes what happens in Vegas is just not meant to stay there, sometimes just sometimes it’s meant to follow you home or everywhere you go.
Holiday Hughes is in Vegas on business when she meets Jack Dalton, he claims to work for the hotel she is staying at so that he can get a peek at her ID. The super snarky Miss Holiday is just brilliant and in fact I loved the snarky and comedic banter between the two of them through out the whole book. Drawn to the darker side of Dalton Holiday and him spend a very steamy weekend getting to know every inch of each other in Vegas. When the weekend is over and real life resumes they are both consumed with thoughts of each other.
I don't want to put even one little spoiler in my review because I really enjoyed all the little twists and turns that had me wanting to slap, hug and kiss both of the main characters.
Then I just need to mention, and I mean NEED to mention her neighbour, good Lordy but Danny is one very GOOD (looking) neighbor.
Great banter, some super suspense and steamy steamy hot sex between Holiday and Dalton had me thoroughly enjoying every page and turning them rather quickly.
The book was nothing new, but it was written in such a way that it didn't need to be the characters were strong enough to make it great.
I give this one w very well deserved 4.5 stars

GREAT READ

Welcome to Saturday everyone. Hope your weekend is going great and you are enjoying the fall weather or curled up on the couch reading a good book. Todays book is rather a chilling book
BOGEYMAN by Steve Jackson

BOOK BLURB
A WildBlue Press original true crime story from the New York Times bestselling author of MONSTER and NO STONE UNTURNED, describing in dramatic detail and with heart-rending poignancy the efforts of tenacious Texas lawmen to solve the cold case murders of three little girls and hold their killer accountable for his horrific crimes.

From the book: "For years he'd stalked elementary schools and playground looking for young girls from low-income neighborhoods to abduct, rape and murder. He thought of them as "throwaway kids"--hardly missed, and soon forgotten, except by those who loved them. He was ever parent's worst nightmare. The bogeyman they warned their children about ... the fiend who lurked outside bedroom windows."

MY REVIEW
Well let me just say this. The Bogeyman had me reading for hours, even though I had to put it down a few times, not that I didn't like it  quite the contrary this book had me rattled and it made me think . What these poor detectives did to catch this evil evil man.
This story starts out in the 80s The Bogeyman is terrorizing the small town in Texas stalking elementary school and parks looking for young girls to take, rape and murder. The Texas lawmen that won't give up on these what they called throwaway kids. These detectives work tireless to find out who this man is and to stop him. What I loved is that these detectives did not give up and wanted to get closer of these cold files .
This is a very intense book, first off I still have trouble believing that there are animals . not people but animals out there that would ever harm a child. My heart was breaking when I was reading. I mean no child is a throw away child. As I was reading I wanted to go and hunt the bastard down myself. The things he did were just horrible. The author takes us to the pits of hell while he was writing those stories, but starts to bring us back with the detectives that are on the case. These men are hard working and want to help give those families closure. The one detective that really popped out to me was Detective Gary Sweet. He worked tirelessly as the cases took a toll on everyone and their families. Theses detectives go beyond the call of duty to find closure for these beautiful girls.
This is an emotional well written book. You will go through hell and back. Have tissues ready as you read. I will guarantee that for a fact you will ugly cry. This book did give me a book hangover
So if you like a true crime novel that is well written check it out ,

welcome to friday and we are having a guest reviewer today

Hey all today is Friday the beginning of the weekend. WOOOHOOOOO ITS FRIDAY. Today's books come from Ashleigh. THE LONELY BOY the second book in the Lonely series by Tara Brown

BOOK BLURB
This is the companion novel to The Lonely. It is recommended you read that first. This is HIS POV on the events and how they came to be, how he came to be a LOST BOY.

Being the boy who accidentally shot his sister was hard.
Never being able to find the girl who actually pulled the trigger was worse.
Convinced, through years of relentless therapy, that she was a figment of his trauma and imagination, Eli Adams gave up on her existence.
Until one day a name, bearing remarkable resemblance to the people missing in his life, showed up out of nowhere.
Suddenly he was thrust into a journey that forced him to offer up his soul as payment for the truth.
What he discovered along the way, was that the girl who took his sister's life and his hand, all those years ago, had become the thing he needed to be whole.
Saving her was one thing.
Healing her was another.
Convincing her to love him will be the toughest part of it all.

19+

Author warning...

This book is not for everyone. It is the book for the people who can see beauty within flawed and disjointed people. It is for those who can enjoy a well rounded story. Loss, pain, joy, hope, and god knows what else I've crammed in there. Let's not forget the depravity.
Like I said in the warning on The Lonely - This is a dark and captivating novel, tread lightly. It is not for the faint of heart, but for those able to see beauty past the breakage.

ASHLEIGH'S REVIEW
I could not wait a minute between putting down book one and starting book two, I just had to know more about Eli. I had to see his path and understand it all.
Eli is just as broken as she is, only they sent him away to be “fixed” his rich parents couldn't deal with losing his sister and having only part of him come home to them. They believed him to be delusional and guilty of killing his sister when this girl he spoke of could never be found. Only now he has found her. Saving her will break him all over again. And loving her will destroy  everything he is. Can she love him after the way he saved her?
I don't want to include even the smallest spoiler in here, I will say that this is an amazing conclusion to the story we started in The Lonely and needs to be read. The raw emotion and utter brokenness of the characters in this story will rip your heart out over and over, but you wont put it down you will sit and read to the end. Then you will wish for more.
I will give Lost Boy the same five star rating I gave book one, I wanted it to have more than book one because i enjoyed it that much more but five is all they will give me.
This is an Author I will now be looking out for and definitely reading more of.

happy Thursday all

HAPPY THURSDAY all. Its been a busy couple of days on the farm. Its weaning time and there are tears an whining all over the place oh and there  is a lot o whining going on in the barn also. But I did get a lot of reading done. Today's book is actually a first for me . AS YOU WISH by Cathy Jackson

BOOK BLURB
Daniel Templeman is an accomplished actor with three wonderful children. The only thing missing in his life is his wife. She was taken from him too soon.
Elizabeth Seraphim is a woman running from the loss of her husband. She and her children move to a new country, hoping for a fresh start. Her children and God are her world.
A chance meeting in the rain could give them both everything they didn't realize they needed. A trusted confidante for Daniel and a new possibility for Elizabeth.
But can Daniel let go of his anger with God and let love take its place, and can Elizabeth trust her future to a man who doesn't believe?

MY REVIEW
This is the first Christian romance I read. I must tell you it was very good. The main characters Elizabeth Seraphim and Daniel Templeman , both have had tragedy and a loss of the ones they love
Elizabeth lost her husband and Daniel lost his wife both way too soon. They meet in the rain and they find something that they both crave .They fall into a sweet friendship with the possibilities of more  if only Daniel could let go of some hatred .
Cathy takes us on a very emotional romantic journey in this book. She is a mother and a he love in god keeps her grounded. But as with most strong women she is running from the pain and heart break of a tragedy, Cathy wrote a very strong character when she wrot Elizabeth. She has taken a beating and comes back stronger. Daniel is also a very strong character that has instant chemistry with the whole family and wants to prove to Elizabeth that he his the man for her. they go through ups and downs but you never know what God has in mind for you
This was a tear jerker for me , I cried almost all the way through this book, There is some very real and raw emotion going on through out the book.
Ultimately this book is about hope, love and redemption. The hope of a faith in God and that he will be there to guide you, finding that one person to love and be loved by and redemption of a persons faith. The way it was written was so sweet and honest. thank you Cathy for writing such a sweet and loving book.

ok thinking is an approriate book to blog agout today

Happy Tuesday all. Thinking that this an appropriate book to blog about today, well just because we are having the attack of the flies around here all trying to get into the house . Which is driving this ranchers wife crazy. With all the swatting and raiding going on, spending more time in the 5th wheel trailer. BROOD X  by Michael Philip Cash is today's book

BOOK BLURB
Seth is laid off from work. His wife Lara just found out they are expecting a baby this summer. Seth plans on documenting the entire pregnancy with his brand new digital camcorder.

During an evening home watching television, the news reports that a swarm of cicada (Brood Ten) are expected to overwhelm the entire Northeast.

Brood Ten is vicious and ready to invade.

During a sweltering summer night, Brood Ten emerges and wreaks havoc with the electric grid, phone and cell service, wi-fi, food and water supply. Civilization as they know it is gone.

Seth and Lara are thrown back to the stone age in their own home with trillions of cicada trying to deposit their eggs and breed.

Fast paced and filled with tension, Brood Ten is the perfect summer read when you’re sitting outside listening to the cicadas sing.

MY REVIEW
Ok this book kind a gave me the wiles, why do you ask? Well I actually hate most bugs, and actually kind a living my version right now. Won't go into detail but yeah bugs are horrible laughing.
This book is about the annual cicada migration an one couples experience with them as they try and lay their eggs and breed .  Seth and Lara are trapped and scared as the cicada fly in, knocking out all communication and well just making life difficult.
This is actually Michael's first novel and wow did he ever bring it. Now being a Canadian girl I did have to look up what a Cicada was and I never want to be around them. The main characters are the cicada and the secondary characters are Seth and Lara. Seth is jobless and reminds me of a big kid that needs to grow up and Lara is his hard working wife, who is so uptight and pregnant. But as the story goes and the Cicada land Seth starts to grow into the man he is suppose to be. Taking control of the situation and getting them to safety .  Oh trust me you will want to slap Seth at the beginning and yell at him to grow up and be a man. When he does start to do that you will cheer for him.
Michael takes us on an adventure and wow the horror he writes is just believable and you know it could actually happen. You can feel the panic in everyone as the cicada start landing on the house. You will have to read to find out but I will just say it made me hate bugs just a little bit more .
This is a face paced horror book that will keep you reading all night long So be prepared for a lot of action suspense and a whole lot of bugs . Michael Philip Cash is a great horror and ghost writer
so check him out.

my interview with Paut Blake Romance cover model

Well today is a great day going to chat with Paul Blake.

A very sweet tattooed romance cover model and he is going to answer some questions. Well at least I hope he will answer questions. This man has the sexiest bedroom eyes. And he reminds me of a teddy bear that you just want to cuddle up with.

Well Ladies guess who just sat down. Hi Paul welcome to my interview.
Hi thanks for having me, it’s great to be here.
I know it is early, but thank you for making it . Are you ready for some fun.
 Laughing sure bring it on.

1 Tell the ladies a little bit about yourself?
My name is Paul Blake I'm 33 yrs old born in California but raised in Arizona since I was about 3 years old I'm a cellphone tower technician and have been modeling for about a year now

2.What made you want to become a cover model
It was never actually a goal of mine to become a cover model but when the opportunity came up I jumped all over it I got hooked up with an author that goes by the name of t h snyder and did my first book cover with her I've done an additional for other book covers and I like it is fun to me in a way to get a little bit of extra money

3. How many covers have you done and have you ever had an embarrassing moment while doing a shoot?
I guess there’s never really any embarrassing moments when you're naked in front of someone that you just met for the first time to do a sexy photo shoot but most of time I'm pretty comfortable with the way I look when I'm nude so I just try to keep it easy and professional

4. I love a man covered in tattooes, how many do you have and do any of them have a special meaning to you.

A lot of people ask me how many tattoos do you have it's kind of a hard question to answer considering I am tattooed from my wrist to my shoulders and back and it's all tied together not to mention the tattoos I have on my legs I have to say easily over a hundred I love getting tattooed it’s a way to express yourself and I like the looks I get when I'm out in public lol.

I would have to say my most meaningful tattoo is a heart I have above my left nipple actually over my heart and I have mom written there she's always been a huge supporter and I love her so much
5. Tell us what your perfect date would be like. How would you romance the woman in your life? All the ladies want to know. Let's see here a perfect date it would probably have to be something that started out very physical and sweaty I don't like to be with a girl who doesn't like to get dirty maybe we can do some rock climbing even if it was indoor or kayaking. After that we would meet up for a very romantic dinner where we would engage in good conversation and really get to see if there was chemistry there maybe have a couple glasses of wine or knock some shots back whatever they prefer lol then go back to my place put on some country music where I would then offer a free massage and see if that took me anywhere lol

6 what attracts you to a woman.
What attracts me about a woman more than anything is independence and drive I like a girl who likes to get up get out there and get things done on her own we all need help at some point in time in life so is good to partner up with people and handle problems together but a girl has to be able to do things on her own as far as physically I love beautiful eyes and a girl must have straight teeth and a good personality as far as height and weight all that can vary.

7 now on to a lighter subject. Love the clothing line you model for. Where can people buy it?
As far as the clothing line that I model for there's about 8 different ones somewhere in California Florida Texas in Canada also based out of Arizona if you go on my Facebook fan page you can see all the clothing lines I represent and they are links to purchase some of the clothes
Now I am going to put you on the hot seat. Trust me I will be gentle with you. Laughing or will I.

8. COFFEE, TEA OR OTHER
Let's see here definitely love a hot cup of coffee with some vanilla creamer in there or maybe hazelnut not a big fan of tea so defiantly coffee

9. BOXERS, BRIEFS OR COMMANDO.

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL

WOOHOOO IT IS FRIDAY Weekend is on its way and this girl couldn't be happier. Its been so busy around the farm. So I am getting caught up on all things book related. Today's book is Murder IN THE PARK by Rowan Wolfe.

BOOK BLURB
"A deputy legal counsel to the White House is found dead in Fort Marcy Park, and after an investigation marred with mistakes and inconsistencies, his death is finally ruled a suicide.

Eight years later, a new president is determined to clean-up all his predecessor’s “dirty laundry” by offering the mission to the newly promoted Lt. Col. Michael Correa, U.S. Army Special Forces.

“Seeing as who could be implicated in Victor Fallon’s death, I thought you’d jump at the chance,” he tells Michael. Reluctantly accepting the covert mission, along with a small, handpicked team, the commander-in-chief reminds Michael that “the jungle’s now concrete and the enemy wears suits.”

After reading the official report on Fallon’s death, Michael’s first stop is the former first lady, Harriet Pearson, who from the outset begins to plot with CIA deputy director, Charles Ashburn, on ways to rid themselves of Michael - permanently.

The terrorist attacks on 9/11 interrupt the mission, but eleven months later, Michael resurfaces, more determined than ever to expose Harriet’s illegal activities. The list of homicides quickly grows. With an undercover DEA agent now in the mix, a high seas kidnapping that involves the U.S. Coast Guard, and a narcotics detective from Miami P.D., the investigation gathers speed. When the ‘Most Wanted’ leader of a Colombian drug cartel is also implicated, Michael resorts to unleashing his Special Forces teammates, with the help of a Global Hawk UAV, in a high-risk takedown. All Michael and the team have to do, while connecting all the dots, is stay alive and prevent Michael’s father, Francis, the returning director of the CIA, from learning too much.

Will the former first lady get away with murder?

The outcome is guaranteed to surprise you.

This is the third book in the series, and the reader will again meet some familiar characters in Rowan Wolfe’s well-researched and fast-paced thriller.

MY REVIEW
This is the third book in the series, I got this book to review and went and read the first two books to keep everything straight in my head. This is a great book an edge of your seat political thriller.
It starts off with a bang as deputy legal counsel is found dead in the park. The investigation gets so muddled up with mistakes that the death is considered suicide. Well you all start thinking maybe it was but as you start piecing things together. But then it comes to eight years later and the new president wants to clean up all of the last president's screw ups. This is where we meet  Michael Correa comes in, he is with special forces and other messes of the past president. Now this is where we get really good . The past president was mixed up with some drug cartels. There is so much intrigue going on you will stay on the edge of your seat as you read
This is the third book in the series and wow Rowan takes you on a very emotional ride. You are never at a loss of trying to figure out what is going on from one page to another. We travel all over and rarely stay in the same spot for more then three to four pages at a time. So you have to be on your toes as you read. This is a gritty realistic book. You can actually think that this could happen. You never know what is lurking in the back rooms of any political party.
The characters from the first book do make appearances in this book also . So you might want to read the first two books to help make sense of this third one .All Rowan's characters are strong realistic characters. You have the good guys and the not so good guys ,the you have the absolute evil men. And in this book they are very evil. You will scream at your  e reader with this book.
Trust me you will not be disappointed in this book , if you like intriguing action packed political
thrillers, I will say you should get this whole series of books. Start at the beginning. This would be a great book for anyone who loves a great thriller.  So give it a chance and I bet you wont be disappointed

good morning world HAPPY THURSDAY

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE I am having the time of my life right now. My facebook page dedicated to the blog has hit over 2000 likes so throwing a big party on October 4th. So having fun getting authors together and scheduling their mini take overs . Also reading up a storm. Have so many books coming down the pipe. Might have to hook up with some awesome reviewers.
So todays book is THE WAYEVIL DOES (the first book in the Eisenbrey trilogy:) By Amara Draska

BOOK BLURB

Rebecca Reis considers abandoning her career as a novelist until she begins writing about convicted serial killer Thomas Eisenbrey.

Nicknamed the Hunter because of his penchant for targeting groups of hunters in the forest, Eisenbrey is the worst kind of psychopath. He is crafty, aloof, at times possessing a charm that is almost hypnotizing, and he’s wheedling his way into her mind.

As her interviews with him in the Washington State Penitentiary progress, Rebecca finds herself having feelings for the last man in the world that she should, forcing her to ignore her attraction to the detective who is also vying for her affection. But when the Hunter escapes, she worries—who will he hunt next?

MY REVIEW
I was so excited when I got this book. It has everything a little bit of romance a hot detective a psychopath killer named THE HUNTER who is rather dashing and charming but also very crafty. He is slowly getting into the mind of Rebecca the reporter sent to interview him. She is sent to the State pen to interview him and as the interviews progress she finds that she is starting to fall for the debonair killer But there is also the very hot detective that also wants her. But she is scared that when the hunter escapes who will he go after and will she live to see another day.
The author takes us on a ride that will end up reading all night long. This has a romance, serial killers , murders and a twist of paranormal. The characters are so well written . You feel for them and start to care for them. I must admit I did like Thomas even though he was a serial killer and probably
want to stab me to death. He did kind a get under your skin while you read.
I didn't think that all the aspects would work but it did. Even the twist of paranormal . It does and trust me you will be drawn into hell and back and yes there is a cliff hanger but not a big of one that will make you scream. This book will keep you up all night reading. Hope you are ready for a big book hangover.  So check out this book and check out the great story lines characters and wonderful plots. I promise you will not be disappointed

another leg on the book tour train

Today I am the stop on THE FIRST ENCOUNTER by Candy O Donnell  blog tour.

BOOK BLURB

She didn't only touch his heart... she touched his soul.

Twenty-two year old Eric Holtzer didn't know what hit him when he first encountered Vivian DuCrane in the hotel lobby. Being a Prince from another country did have its benefits--awesome benefits, such as booze, fast cars, and women, but Vivian was something special--and she was about to turn his world upside down!

MY REVIEW
I was given this book as part of the blog tour. I when I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a totally different thought process when I started reading. You meet Eric Holtzer, A spoiled rich Prince, so I automatically he was going to be a brooding Alpha. His mother sends him to America in hopes of making a man out of him, When he first meets Vivian DeCrane in a hotel lobby . she was different and he knew it. She turned his life upside down.
This book was a good read. I really loved Vivian, she is a no nonsense woman. Who won't take crap from anyone including a playboy prince with a passion for fast cars and women. She keeps him in his place a lot of the time. When Eric is cut off his mother asks Vivian to help him out. She has second thoughts about it but does. She kicks butt big time
Eric on the other hand kind a drove me crazy, he seems too weak at times. He does need a bit of a back bone. He is such a spoiled brat you kind a want to spank him, But he does start to grow up by the end of the book. He realizes that he is in love and will do what it takes to.
The book was a little disjointed at the beginning but the author does make up for as she progresses through the book. You see the characters grow and become better people towards the  end. You can feel the heartbreak in both their lives and the author portrays that very well. Over all this was an enjoyable read for me. If you don't want tor read about a man that isn't a brooding alpha and the woman who builds him back up into a better person,

welcome to CHERISH THE PAST by Sandra Steiner

Today I get to share a great book CHERISH THE PAST :book one in the Spring Island Trilogy series.by new author Sandra Steiner

BOOK BLURB
"Angie sighed. A small smile began to form as she recalled the moments that led up to this incredible feeling. Life was good—no, life was amazing. It hadn’t always been, but today at forty-six, it sure was. She had reached a good space in her life. She was content, in love, at peace with her past, and excited about her future. Tomorrow she was marrying her soul mate. She had nearly given up hoping she would find him. He had actually prayed that she would find him before his birthday. Or so he said, and she had no reason not to believe him.

As she sat on the beach watching the waves roll in, the memories of a lifetime came crashing in, reminding her to cherish the past . . ."

MY REVIEW
When I sat down to read this book, I wasn't expecting how good of a book I was getting into . I started reading in the evening and I was done that very night. You get really caught up in the lives of the characters . The main character Angie has had a very rough life. The book takes us from the age of 18 through her first marriage . Which she basically lived through hell. Her first husband Alex was a horrible, horrible man. She had the strength to move on and the life she lead afterwards was for her children. Trust me Angie was way too good for the likes of Alex. She pushed through and dissolved the first marriage and what happened to her right afterwards. Angie only got stronger as the book went on, this poor woman had a lot of curve balls thrown at her and she came out the other side stronger and happier for it
This book doesn't have hot sex and romance. This is a story of one woman's journey through hell to come out the other side. To be stronger and live for children. The author takes us the reader on a journey with Angie. You will shed a tear and maybe giggle just a little. Trust me you will want to kill Alex at one point in the story. Its a book that will make you think of your past and cherish everything you went through to come out the other side.

good monday all

Good Monday everyone, I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend and got some well deserved reading done. I was working and reading . It was great got 2 books down while it was slow at the tradeshow. Today's story is our continuing series of the NIGHTSHADE CASES. Today's installment is number seven. Welcome to BOOTY CALL

BOOK BLURB
When murder hits close to home for the three friends, it’s Ray who takes the brunt of the grief. Doesn’t help her cruel and meddling mother decides to make an appearance. Or that Ray’s girlfriend, Cici Panther, is pushing her away from Kinsey and Gerri, even as an old lover comes to call…

Welcome to The Nightshade Case, a series of twenty-one murder mysteries. Please note: this episodic series is based on the television show model, with screenwriting notations and shorter formats. There will be a complete mystery each release, with cliffhangers only occurring in the full season story line.

MY REVIEW
This is part seven in the series or as like to call them my very own television series playing in my mind, We are learning so much about the ladies. We find out more and more every episode. Today we are centered around Cici and Ray. These poor ladies can't catch a break. They are in a relationship but there are misunderstandings he mother arriving and well a murder of an ex girlfriend . These poor ladies are being pushed into darker and darker situations. They have accepted the weird but now they need to find out who is to be trusted and who can't be ,
The installments keep getting better and better. The story gets darker and more complex as we get deeper into the story line. Pattie can weave a tale that will keep you reading all night long. The way she has developed her characters, they are so easy to fall in love with as they go through all the trauma and death that goes on around them. The way they are set up like tv episodes is a great new way to read them .I applaud her keep them coming,

good thursday everyone

Good Thursday everyone, Today's book is MERICILESS LOVE (a dark romance) by Nicole Snow

BOOK BLURB
ONLY MERCILESS LOVE TAMES THE DARKEST HEARTS...

The name's Evan Cole, and I deserve to burn for what I've done.

The girl with the rocking body I saved yesterday believes I'm some kinda hero. You'd think she'd recognize evil after staring it in the face all her life, but with me, Cassie's completely blind.

She doesn't know this house is a prison. She doesn't know the cartel's got my son. She doesn't know I'm a selfish, desperate, pissed off imposter, and I'll do anything to get my boy home.

Dealing in flesh is nothing new. Remorse is a word I never learned. Turning her into a new toy for the savage blackmailing me should be a cakewalk.

Except it isn't.

There's a deeper, crazier part of me that starts to blaze whenever I see her. I just can't shake these insane fantasies about hauling Cassie to bed and working out the pain, the rage, the insatiable lust, claiming her as mine and nobody else's...

No! I need to forget all that and get on with this sideshow. I can't go soft. If I do, the whole world's gonna crash down and bury everything I've ever cared about.

Note: this is a very dark and gritty romance novel about heartache, redemption, and really hot loving. Bad boys and desperate girls do the kinds of things you'd expect. Merciless love holds back nothing!

MY REVIEW
I started reading this book thinking it was going to be a take off  of the other dark romances that I  have read lately. The alpha man with a dark past taking a young naïve girl and breaking them and then falling in love with them It was like that but it had a twist that I wasn't prepared for . Evan Cole was taking and training women for the cartel. The reason he was doing this was that they have his son. Evan would do everything to get his son back. Even break the one girl that had gotten to him,
Evan is willing to do anything . He has gone from hunter to hunted as he tries to get his son back.
Cassie has been abused by her preacher father for her entire life. The day Evan found her . Cassie was being beaten to a pulp by her father on the side of the road. He knew that she was the one that he needed. As he stole her from her old life. He didn't realize what would happen when he got her back to his place They found each other in the darkness that was her breaking. But will they survive the idea of Cassie being given to the Cartel head to be tortured and killed. Will he get back his son. and will everyone survive
This is one real gritty dark story, The author takes us on a trip to hell back to love and redemption. The characters are very well written and are so raw. You feel the pain that Evan is going through. It rips your heart out, At one point you want to knock him upside the head and the next moment you want to hug him tight to you and take away his pain. Cassie is one female character that has gone through hell with her family. She is a fighter and will fight for everyone she hold dear, They are opposites but when together they are hot,
This is an fast paced book the author doesn't have very much down time between scenes. There is love, lust . fear and hostility. You will be thrown for loops as you read this book. The author puts a lot of blood sweet and tears in every scene, You will love and hate the characters . There are so many grey areas yes hit man do have scruples and hearts underneath the hardness. You see what the deaths a person will go when family is threatened. So if you like a gritty dark romance take a chance on this book

HIGH SEAS DARKNESS by Burr B Anderson

BOOK BLURB
A vicious sex crime on a luxury cruise liner brings private maritime investigator Brick Morgan face-to-face with an old flame—and a deadly terrorist plot that threatens an entire fleet of cruise ships. Morgan must stop the radical fundamentalists, but his attempts to alert the FBI and Homeland Security run up against a political battle brewing between American loyalists and an American president whose weak stance on terror opened the door for this series of chemical attacks by radical religious insurgents. The United States government readies to sink the Matisse to protect the populace from the attack and bury the truth about the severity of the ongoing War on Terror. Meanwhile, Morgan and his specialized team—a seductive female security chief with her eye on Morgan, a belligerent ex-Gurkha looking to sabotage the investigation, and a mysterious and exotic computer hacker—are in a race against the clock to track the radical fundamentalists and break down the clues left by a perverted Peeping Tom crew member, an Islamic zealot seeking revenge, and the machinations of Washington DC politicos. Political intrigue, forensic clues, and Brick Morgan’s personal and professional histories collide in a bullet-ridden climax, forcing him to choose between the life of the woman he loves or the lives of thousands…

MY REVIEW
Well first off I have never been on a cruise and honestly after reading this book I don't think I will ever be going on one. Who knew what went on in the bowels of the ship as everyone else is sipping their drinks and having a good time. The people who work there are living in cramped little cubby holes that just aren't safe to live.
Meet our Hero Brick Morgan a private maritime agent. He is on the ship because of a violent sex crime. But he soon comes face to face with his old flame . There is also a terrorist plot brewing on the ship and he has to  solve the case and save the ship and his love. He fights everyone up to the president. No one wants to help him, so it is up to him and his team to stop the evil that is about to go down. Will they stop the attack and will he save his old flame , You will just have to read . Yes I know I am evil but that is part of the fun .
The author takes us quite a ride as we read this book. You follow Brick as he works through every clue and how to stop the terrorist. These characters are so well written an you want to cheer for the good guys and want to hurt the bad guys , and the bad guys are really really bad. Mr Anderson takes you to the bowels of hell at the bottom of the ship as you see the way the workers stay while not working.
This is a fast paced book for me , I have a bit of a book hangover from this book. It is fast paced and I sat on the edge of my seat most of the way through this book. Mr Anderson takes writing the mystery to a new level. There is so much going on but you don't get lost. The author will get you from point a to point be with lots of twists and turn. I am very happy I took the chance on this book. I t makes me want to read his other books. The plot is well written and it moves so swiftly you will forget where you are and be transported to the cruise ship. I mean I so don't want to take a cruise anytime soon because of this book . It did freak me out a bit but that is what any good book does.
So if you want a great mystery to read with a bunch of twists and turns this is the book for you  so give it a chance . You won't be disappointed at all

Feeling like I have been hit by a MAC truck. I am going to hand the reins over to a guest reviewer and her review of TORRENT by Gemma James. Thanks for the great review Ashleigh.

BOOK BLURB

She sent an innocent man to prison. Now, eight years later, he's returning the favor...
I've been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.

Now that he's holding me captive on an island.

Rafe has his reasons for doing what he's doing, and if I'm honest, I can't blame him. I'm the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn't commit.

But now he's free and the tables have turned...now he's the one driven by obsession.

TORRENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part one of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read. Approximately 43,000 words. RAMPANT, book two, is now available for pre-order!

ASHLEIGH'S REVIEW
While reading this I thoroughly enjoyed it and was immersed into the story and the characters right off the bat. Alex’s fear is so real and can be felt in each word. When we do meet Rafe and are confronted by his motives and inner darkness it is almost too real. But here is my big BUT for this one.....
When I was done reading I had a hard time reconciling how much I had enjoyed reading such a terribly dark and depraved story. The sex is almost all rape, Alex is stripped and degraded and broken down in very horrible ways and Rafe is not a nice person, and even though we want to think he is I really do believe he isn’t at all.  In my usual dark reads there is some form of light at the end of all the darkness, I didn't find that same light anywhere in this story and as much as i enjoy, no love a good dark book I think this may have pushed on a limit for me.
That said, I will read book two when it comes put in October this year. I felt that this was well written and caught my attention right from the cover to the very end. Was it touchy subject material, yes, but that didn't make it a bad book in fact I think it maybe made it an even better book.
Alex and Rafe’s story is only just beginning in this book and the cliff hanger of note has left me chewing at the bit to see what comes next.
If you are offended by rape, humiliation and almost all other touchy subjects I would suggest you give this one a skip. However if you like a dark read that pushes all the boundaries give this one a chance.

this is a special review today for all those parents with kids between 10 and 15

Welcome to holiday Monday. Happy Labor day out there to everyone. Today I am doing a special book. It is aimed for children between the ages of 10 to 14. Now I know you are probably wondering why a book geared for kids . Well even though I have no children of that age I know a lot of people that do. So when the author came to me, I jumped at the chance . Like I have said I am a non genre book blog. I do read almost anything. So here is my review of PAWS IN THE PIAZZA by Jerilyn McIntyre

BOOK BLURB

“Back home, I was content to be just an ordinary house cat.
I didn’t get out much.
But it’s different here in Venice.”
How different? Harley quickly finds out after his family arrives in Italy.
He takes up with a group of local cats who roam wild in the alleys and neighborhoods of Venice, and meets the mysterious Angela,
a beautiful white Angora who steals his heart.
Then he becomes embroiled in a fierce and ongoing war between his friends and a rival band of cats, and discovers the magical order that underlies life in the enchanting and historic city that is his new home.

MY REVIEW
This is such a sweet book. You meet Harley the cat and his family. He was content on being a house cat until they moved to Venice. Where he stumbles along a group of alley cats that show him around and tell him all the customs of the city. That he is growing to love. They give him a lesson in cat history and how vital cats are in the city. He falls in love with a very pretty Angora cat she steals his cat heart. Then there is the rival gang of cats and the ongoing war between them.

The author may have wrote this book for children, I thoroughly enjoyed it . The way she describes Venice and the history are a great addition to the story line. Who knew that having a book that the main characters are cats would be enjoyable but it was. They take on a life of their own. The warring between the two rival cat gangs are daring they really don't want to think of Harley. But as he travels and meets a magical person and the love of his life. You feel like the author has taken you on a fun filled adventure. This book to me would be geared more to girls then boys . Or just anyone who loves cats and wants a sweet read. The book is a magical fun filled romp around Venice. You will smile as you read  this book. The book does have illustrations. But they only enhance the reading. So if you want a great read for your daughter and you love cats , check it out . Its a sweet magical book.
