WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU FOUND OUT ABE LINCOLN WAS STILL ALIVE

Good Thursday all , hope your week is going great . Today we are going to review a cool read I found on NetGalley. ABE LINCOLN ON ACID by Bill Walker and Brian Anthony.

                            BOOK BLURB

There are whispers even now that Abraham Lincoln never really died, that a voodoo spell cursed him with a terrible eternal life. It has even been claimed that he robbed banks in the 1930s with John Dillinger, only to mysteriously disappear once again into the pages of history. But the truth is even stranger than the rumors...

Watched over by a vengeful J. Edgar Hoover and held in a secret location near his old Springfield home, Lincoln re-awakens in the 1960s, and finds himself thrust into an era even more turbulent than the Depression, a time where a divisive war is once again tearing a nation apart and political intrigue and assassinations are rampant.

Escaping Hoover’s clutches with a clever bit of deception, he navigates an even more treacherous and unfamiliar terrain, finding an ally in John Voci, a young San Francisco folk-singer. Together they journey across a counter-cultural landscape, meeting those who believe a great man has returned, and striving to remain free from those who want to bury him once and for all.

Will Lincoln inspire the younger generation and save his country from its final reckoning, or will he turn on, tune in, and drop out?

                                MY REVIEW
What would you do if you realized that Abe Lincoln isn't actually dead but living out and immortal curse that was placed on him. Every has said that they have seen him and you never know you just might of . In this book we see Abe going through the big events of the past , robbing banks with Dillinger .  His handler is none other then J, Edgar Hoover, who keeps him locked up in his home in Springfield . As he wakes again in the 60's and helps motivate a group of stoners into to saving the planet when it looks bleak.
The characters in this book are so much fun to read . They rang from the president to famous figures in the past . They are a varied and so much fun to read . It is great to see Abe work his way through his life with these characters . You can see him work his honest magic with these people
I must say I had fun reading this book . I was sucked right on in , the story flows great and had me giggling all the way through . The way the authors take on the public people . They write with such wit you can't help but laugh and giggle as you read this book . This would be a great book for the pool or the beach . So if you want a book that will make you laugh and think check it out .

HAPPY TUESDAY ALL

Happy Tuesday all , have you ever found a book that once you start , you get sucked in and when you finally put it down you are done . That's the way its was with THE BITCHES OF EVERAFTER by Barbra Annino.

                            BOOK BLURB

From the author of the number #1 bestselling book, OPAL FIRE, comes a brand new spellbinding trilogy inspired by fairy tale characters.

These are not the mild-mannered maidens of your childhood. These are fallen princesses and fierce women with no recollection of who they are, where they came from, or how they arrived in a mysterious town called Everafter. All they know is that they've been sentenced to a stretch in a half-way house by a malicious judge with an ax to grind. They've been stripped of their freedom, their kingdoms, and their true loves. Now, they have nothing left to lose.

Snow White is the newest parolee to arrive at Granny's House for Girls. It isn't long before she learns that her housemates harbor secrets, and that the mansion itself is a meandering enigma. She stumbles upon forbidden doorways, ghostly passages, and walls that seem to breathe. Determined to find out what’s really happening inside those old walls, Snow embarks on a dangerous discovery mission. Not everyone is thrilled about her nosing around. In fact, there are some who would kill to keep the secrets that the house—and its occupants—hold.

                                  MY REVIEW
What do you get when you rewrite the fairy tales , you get 4 princesses that are transported to a different time and are all wiped of their memories and their magic  and become convicted of various crimes . They are forced to live at Granny's house for girls where the house has seen better days. The latest resident to stop by is Snow white and she is the catalyst to bring them all together and remember the world they knew before .
This book had me in stitches  I have never ever laughed so hard . The way the author wrote the princesses was so great . Cinderella as a lush who married a prince that like the boys better then the girls .  Punzie aka Rapunzel as a stripper who uses her hair as a weapon. and the rest , Belle is really bad ass with her beast .  Even Tinker bell is here , she is kind of a brat in this book and is working for the bad guys and she is fricken hilarious she doesn't remember who she is but knows she wants more. The best character in my opinion is Snow , she has all her aspects but she is darker and more in your face then the fairy tale  will let you believe . She is going to kick some butt and keeps the girls on the straight and narrow and bring back their memories .
The author takes us on a fun filled ride , the characters are well written and complex . The story line is fun and the characters are quirky . No this isn't a ONCE UPON  A TIME reboot . This story is a laugh a minute .  I have never ever laughed so hard while reading a book . I actually snorted a few times . The ladies are so funny and the situations they are getting into are hilarious.  This would be a great read for the beach or pool side . You will laugh until the tears start to flow . I will tell you though there is a cliff hanger at the end but you will be left wanting the second book . I can't wait till the second book comes out . It is on my list of books to buy . So if you want a fun light read check out THE BITCHES OF EVERAFTER  you will not be disappointed at all .

GOOD THURSDAY ALL

Good Thursday all  I am finally conscious enough to come back to the blog . Man summer colds and flu are a bitch .  I have had time to do some reading while on my back and one of the books I did get finished is a great horror book MAYAN BLUE by Michelle Garza and Melissa Larson better known as the sisters of slaughter.

                            BOOK BLURB

Xibalba, home of torture and sacrifice, is the kingdom of the lord of death. He stalked the night in the guise of a putrefied corpse, with the head of an owl and adorned with a necklace of disembodied eyes that hung from nerve cords. He commanded legions of shape shifting creatures, spectral shamans, and corpses hungry for the flesh of the living. The Mayans feared him and his realm of horror. He sat atop his pyramid temple surrounded by his demon kings and demanded sacrifices of blood and beating hearts as tribute to him and his ghostly world.

These legends, along with those that lived in fear of them, have been dead and gone for centuries. Yet now, a doorway has been opened in Georgia. A group of college students seek their missing professor, a man who has secretly uncovered the answer to one of history’s greatest mysteries. However, what they find is more than the evidence of a hidden civilization. It’s also a gateway to a world of living nightmares.

                             MY REVIEW
Welcome to the legend of Xibalba a place of torture and sacrificial deaths to the lord of the underworld. The Mayans believed that sacrifices of human flesh and sacrifices of blood to appease him . He is a living nightmare with his shifter creatures, he sits high on his pyramid and rules the underworld .
I found out this book from a friend in a book group and was instantly intrigued with the concept of a horror story written with historical lore. I fell in love with the story and the and all the blood soaked horror that came along with it . This was the first book I have read from these sisters and was so impressed . The way they involved the history of the Mayan culture and the story of  the university students that are out to find out about the legend.  Honestly who knew that getting extra credit would mean keeping your life intact and surviving .
I must say the characters in this book a diverse and complex . We have the party girl who wanted to party with the guys on expedition . I really wanted to slap Kelly a few times she was such an annoying character . All she wanted to do was party and the guys were just as bad . You just knew that the authors were setting them up to become sacrifices for the gods . But  I must admit the authors did put them through hell before the Gods got them.  Alissa is the geeky girl in love with her history teacher . She becomes a such a fighter and a strong character as the book continues . Her and Wes fight till the death if they have to . They go through hell and back to  try and get the doors to hell closed again and trap the evil behind its doors . The Shadow priestess is there to guide them and help them try and get out of the hell alive . You really want to cheer for Alissa  you want her to survive and get home safe . You will also be kind of scared of the shifter creatures trust me on this you will look at owls in a whole new light after reading this book.
This book will take you on a roller coaster ride . You will be shocked and dismayed the Mayan heritage and lore run through this story . They will take you to the depths of hell and back again . I am so glad this didn't turn out to be another run of the mill get out of the jungle trying to survive book . This one had me on the edge the seat turning pages well into the night . It also gave me a I better sleep with the lights on tonight kind of vibe as I read . I must say I now understand why the authors have been named the sisters of slaughter, they do it so well .  If you want to read a great horror story that is full of lore and history . Check out the great 4 star horror story that will have you on the edge of your seat. I promise you will not be disappointed in the least .

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING Y'ALL

Good morning all , have you had a book that you when you saw the cover you swooned . Then you started reading it and you need a fan to cool yourself down . Well lets just say Victoria Zak's book MY IMMORTAL COWBOY(Hell's Cowboys book one ) will be that book

                            BOOK BLURB

Will you be ready to serve when Hell’s Cowboys come for you?

There’s a new sheriff in town. With his coven torn apart by corruption, vampire Roman McCoy leads a posse deep underground to prepare for the battle of their lives. His newest recruit, cowboy RC Reid dies after a bull ride and awakens to a new world with vampire benefits. He now could be the key to taking down the vampire king of Diablo, Texas. Torn between the fanged advantages of his new life and the memories of his old one, there’s one thing RC can’t leave behind, Charlee.

Charlee Brysen lost everything the day a bull killed the only man she’ll ever love. But that’s not the only thing that vanished, so did her dreams for college. Now she’s about to lose her family ranch and will do anything to save it. Stripping for cash, her life is flipped upside down when RC waltzes into her club and demands a lap dance. Besides being dead, there’s another little problem; he has fangs!

As the King of Diablo tightens his icy grip on the coven, Charlee’s life hangs in the balance. RC must save her, but will their love be stronger than blood?

                           MY REVIEW
Ok lets say this author can write highlander books and was wondering how she would do with cowboys . She rocked it let me introduce The Cowboys of Hell's Cowboys . This is RC and Charlee's book. Meet RC Reid a professional bull rider , who after a horrific wreck ends up in a totally different world. He left behind his one true love Charlee Bryson who now is trying to make ends meet after her grandmother dies . After two years they meet again and sparks fly but there are secrets they both are keeping . When Charlee's life is endangered will RC be able to save her and will they be able to repair the love that they have.
Omg what can I say about this book but oh it is swoon worthy Victoria takes us on a ride full of action and romance , lots of romance . Who knew that you could take hot cowboys and turn them into vampires and make them even hotter .  This is a fresh take on the whole Vampire western genre the characters are all relatable and you will love the interaction between them . I totally fell in love with a couple of the characters. RC is a hot cock bull rider who is doing it all for the love of his girl Charlee . He is such a cocky guy a true cowboy and you see him grow as you read. He is a sweet guy and would do anything to help his girl . Charlee isn't your typical  woe is me my boyfriend left me type of character . She is a kick ass take names kind of girl . She is doing everything in her power to keep the ranch in her name . She is my kind of girl , she even kicks RC's butt  a time or two . But I think my all time favorite character is Tibbs another of the cowboys , he is going to be a handful in future books . He is a big kid always getting on everyone and making jokes at others expense . I can't wait to read his story. The rest of the men are just hot and mysterious and I can't wait to see how their stories come around .
This book will be a great summer read , it has the paranormal factor along with the western genre . There are men in wranglers and driving trucks and loving hard and the woman who love them . The story is fun and fresh with a lot of hot and heavy loving thrown in . Trust me ladies you will swoon and your kindle might get a little warm while you are reading . Just have a nice cool drink and a comfy place to read . The story is a fast read so you can have it done in an afternoon, you could read this one by the pool or at the lake .  I can't say enough about this one, its a great start to a great new series . I can't wait for the next book. So if you want a great summer read check it out . The cover alone will make you swoon . Come on ladies I know you all want a cowboy and the cowboys of Hells cowboys are ready to play .

GOOD MORNING WORLD .

Good morning world, I hope your week is going well . Welcome to Friday eve , today we are going to review IT TAKES ONE ( An Audrey Harte novel) by Kate Kessler .

                            BOOK BLURB

"Deliciously twisted and genre-bending, Kate Kessler's positively riveting It Takes One boasts a knockout concept and a thoroughly unique and exciting protagonist, a savvy criminal psychologist with murderous skeletons in her own closet." -- Sara Blaedel
Criminal psychologist Audrey Harte is returning home after seven years.

Less than 24 hours later, her best friend is murdered.

Audrey is both the prime suspect and the only person who can solve the case. . .
                           MY REVIEW
Ok I am a big mystery and thriller reader, I can read those books all night long, This one caught my eye right away. I settled in thinking ok this is going to be awesome a psychologist with a hidden past and the trials of her going home . I had so many delicious evil thoughts running through my head . I mean it just screams murder and mayhem will ensue . Audrey Harte is going home and is still harbouring some secrets from her past . When her best friend is murdered she is looking like the only suspect in the murder.
What can I tell about this book yes it is a murder mystery but it is pretty light on the murder part of it . We find our main character Audrey having all sorts of trouble when she gets home . from her drunken father to her best friend Maggie getting murdered . We don't see her break down at any time we see Audrey kick ass and always in the confrontational mood .  I don't think we ever get to see the tender side of Audrey. She kind of annoyed be at the beginning but she does kind of grow on you . There is a big cast of characters in this book , too many to mention and they all seem to be up to their own agenda and everyone is hiding something . We never really get into each character .
This is a mystery book with a light emphasis on murder . It seemed like the author was taking us of in so many different directions . I was loosing some interest in the book . I found myself kind of drifting .Maybe there was just too much going on , the murder , Audrey's secret and yes romance with the boy of her past . I think there was just too much going on in my opinion
Over all this was a well written book and if you like a book  that has murder, romance and mystery this is the book for you. This was a pretty fast read and you could read it by the pool or at the lake . So check it out  if you want

GOOD TUESDAY ALL

Good Tuesday all , hope your week is going well . If you like Fantasy books I have the book for you .
THE DRAGON SLAYER ( Dragon Empire book 1) by D.L COLON

                            BOOK BLURB

Glaycol Masters comes from a family of Hunters in the continent of Istagar.
Glaycol knows everything there is to know about every mystical creature and how to kill them, except for the Dragons. No one has been ever been able to kill them.
Glaycol still has to take his final test to become a Hunter worthy of bearing the name Masters, His weapon of preference; a great sword.
For his final test Bonca, Glaycol’s father, sent him to hunt the Chimera of the Valley of the Blood and bring each of their heads back. Glaycol has now killed the Chimera and is returning the Forest of Darkness, where he lives with his family on top of a mountain that oversees the city.
When he arrives his family is waiting for him, even his older brothers, who are also hunters, are there to celebrate the graduation of their brother. Once he presents the heads of the Chimera to his father, each of his family members gives him his gift. As they start they all give him a piece of armor until he has a full set of black armor. It is called, The Berserker.
Their celebration is cut short when the leader of the Dragons, Hyglarur, attacks them by surprise; killing everyone except for Glaycol. His new armor absorbed the fire, but he didn’t came out unscratched. He lost his right eye.
Glaycol, now driven by revenge and his family’s creed: Kill them all, has to find clues to where Hyglarur’s brother, Rotwar, is hiding. When he finds him Glaycol attacks, leaving him wounded and with a message for Hyglarur; Hyglarur, I am coming for you and your Dragon Empire. I now know that Dragons can be killed.
Glaycol Masters was once known as the Berserker, but a new name has been given to him. The continent will forever know him as The Dragon Slayer.
This is his Story.
                           MY REVIEW
Welcome to the Dragon Empire where the dragons aren't all good . They are the oppressors of all the realms . Meet the one man who with a band of elves and others out to destroy the dragons and bring the rightful people back to the crowns .  Meet Glaycol Masters the dragon slayer
I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book . I love fantasy and the premise of this book had caught my eye immediately . The dragons in this book aren't the good guys like in most of the books out there. They don't turn into hunky guys that will sweep you off your feet . These dragons are taking over and ruling with an iron fist . They have hurt people and killed of entire areas. Glaycol is a young hunter who is devastated when his entire clan is wiped out by the dragon Hyglarur .
The characters in this book are very diverse. We have fairies and elves humans and oh yes we have a succubus. The main character Glaycol is a very complex character , he is powered by an oath to revenge the slaughter of his family . He is a strong character that we see go through so many trials to get what he needs to do to avenge his family . We see him struggle and find love along the way also.
The rest of the cast of characters are wide and diverse , they all help Glaycol in various ways as he fights his way through his trials . They have his back when things get really bad and help celebrate with him when times are good . They are all very complex and make for great reading
This book is a shorter book compared to the other books this author wrote. I loved the story line and the characters . The book had a few minor spelling errors but it didn't deter from the story . The book is a whirlwind of emotions. There were scenes where you will laugh and yes there is a scene that had me shedding tears . I was shocked when the author did what he did to one of the main characters . I was like WTH  you didn't just do that  and why would you do that .  I couldn't put this book down and read it all in one sitting . If you want a really good read that will transport you to a realm where dragons aren't the good guys and man fights to take back what is theirs . This is the book for you . I cant wait to read more about the dragon empire .

GOOD MONDAY ALL TO DAY IS BOOK RELEASE DAY FOR NINA MASON

Release Day Blitz: Knight of Pentacles by Nina Mason

The future looks bleak for Jenna Cameron when, after a five-year engagement, her fiancé breaks it off the night before the wedding. Hoping to regroup, Jenna decides to drive alone to the cottage on Scotland’s mysterious Black Isle where they were supposed to spend their honeymoon. When her car breaks down, Jenna wonders if her troubles can get any worse. Then, while cutting through a secluded glen, she sees a handsome man bathing in a waterfall. The next day, she learns the man she saw is the faery knight who guards the portal into Avalon, the otherworld island ruled by Morgan Le Fay.

Jenna, ready to be rid of the virginity she’s saved in vain, offers herself to Sir Axel Lochlann, the shaman knight of Faery Glen. From that moment on, she finds herself inside a faery tale complete with druids, goblins, runic magic, and vampire owls. She also discovers powers she didn’t know she had—powers she can use to break Sir Axel’s bonds to Queen Morgan.

First, however, she must persuade Axel to put his desire to be free ahead of his duty to the queen he’s sworn to serve and obey.
Today we celebrate the release of Knight of Pentacles, book three in Nina Mason’s Knights of the Tarot series. Unlike the first two books in the series, which Nina revised and re-released on May 24, Knight of Pentacles has never been released before.

Knight of Pentacles, an erotic PNR/UF set primarily on Scotland’s Black Isle, tells of the romance between Sir Axel Lochlann, who guards the portal into Avalon, and Jenna Cameron, the daughter of a witch who hasn’t yet discovered her powers. Their love story is based on the old Scottish ballad of Tam Lin, which plays an important role in the book.

                                 MY REVIEW
The third book in the knights of Tarot is all about Jenna and Sir Axel. Which I absolutely loved , this I think might be one of Nina's better books . She takes us a magical journey that will take you to Avalon and the Viking knights of lore . She mixes the Nordic lore with the magic of the fairy kingdom with such and ease . You are transported to a mystical realm where you will find your one true love and trust.
I must say that the characters in this story are fascinating and very complex . We have Sir Axel a knight that is guarding the gate way to the fairy world in a beautiful glen of the fairies . He is strong and heroic and sexy as hell . He is torn between the human world and the world where he is nothing but a sex slave for Queen Morgan. You see him being torn apart from the duties he must preform with the Queen and the love of his life that walked into his life by accident . You see him struggle and then come to terms with all that is going on . He makes a great hero in my opinion. Jenna is a latent witch that has come to the small cottage to mend her broken heart. She is a shy girl that is coming into her own . We watch her grow as a woman as she falls in love with the man of her dreams . You see her begin to fight for what she wants and what she wants is Sir Axel . She would go to the ends of the earth for him. She would even fight the Morgan to save his life. We see her go from broken hearted virgin to the strong willed witch fighting the ever powerful witch. I loved watching her grow as a character. At first I felt a little sorry for her but I grew to love her as I read the book.
This is a great read , I read it in one evening the pages turned themselves . The author weaves a tale that includes , fairies , gnomes . knights and oh yeah vampire owls all woven into one sweet story.  This story is full of sweet sex and romance that will blow your socks off  But it is also a story full of adventure and good versus evil. You will fall in love with the characters and the story will sweep you off your feet . The roller coaster ride is fun and fast you will be blown away . If you want a great story full of fantasy and love . Check it out you will not be disappointed .

Here’s a little more about the Knights of the Tarot series:

Knights of the Tarot, a four-part series, was born of a relatively simple concept. Nina wanted to write a paranormal/fantasy series incorporating different forms of divination. Tarot cards, astrology, runes, numerology, and the like. From that kernel grew the overarching storyline. The heroes of this contemporary paranormal series are Scottish noblemen of times past who were taken by the faeries into Avalon to serve as breeding drones to the queen, the legendary Morgan le Fay. Each of the books tells the story of a particular knight and the heroine whose love saves him from his unhappy existence.

Each hero grapples with a different relationship with their cruel and selfish queen. Callum Lyon, the knight of book one (Knight of Wands), is free of Morgan’s influence, having escaped Avalon after faking his death. Leith MacQuill, the knight of book two (Knight of Cups), was expelled from Avalon after the queen discovered his affair with one of the ladies of her court. To punish Leith, Morgan cursed him so any women he should fall in love with in the future would die.

In Knight of Pentacles, Axel Lochlann is still enslaved to the queen, who he serves as a guardian of the portal between the mortal and immortal realms.

The Knight of Swords (book four) is Finn MacKnight does not yet know he is destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy telling of the queen’s overthrow by a natural-born drone.
The knights are blood-drinking shape-shifters who can assume the form of any creature, real or mythical, but generally take the form of their alter ego. Callum’s preferred form is a lion, Leith’s is a Kellas Cat, Axel’s is a gyrfalcon, and Finn’s is a jaguar.

Growing up, life is idyllic for Lily Rose Cates due to one constant – her father’s love. But in her sixteenth summer, all that changes without warning. There begins Lily’s struggle to find herself and the life she’s lost. . . . Marriage promises fulfillment, but her happilyeverafter barely survives the honeymoon. Her husband’s sophisticated façade hides a brooding man with even darker secrets. When all illusions shatter, Lily must make hard choices – abandon her husband or risk losing much more than her marriage. She flees their home in Detroit and sets out on a fearful journey to a house in Georgia that her husband knows nothing about. This is one woman’s compelling tale of love and survival as she finds her way back home to who she’s meant to be . . . in her father’s house.

About Rose:

What defines me as a personfirst and foremost my relationship with Christ. Then I have to say my children. I have six children, three sons and three daughters, whom I love with all my heart. I graduated college wanting to be a writer and a stay at home mom. After my divorce, I became a teacher and the writing became a once in a while thing. I have worked in education for the last 20 years. Currently, I'm a high school French teacher. (Oui, je parle francais.) In 2008, I started writing again. Mostly I write about God in my everyday life, how to connect faith to daily life, and figure out practical applications for Scripture to carry into my day. God's goodness has given me strength for each step of the way. Let's encourage one another and have fun too on this blog. Oh, by the way, I'm a Southern girl. Born in Georgia, and have lived in Martinez (suburb of Augusta, GA) for the last twentyseven years.
