WELCOME TO FRIDAY

Well all we made it to Friday and up here in Canada we have a long weekend. So I have the perfect book for you weekend reading . AFTER THE FIRE by Mary J Williams .

                            BOOK BLURB

In his lifetime, Gaige Benson has dreamed of only two things. Playing football and loving Violet Reed.

Even a golden boy has secrets. Will Gaige's past be the one thing that derails his future?

Violet Reed almost lost it all. Her sight, her dreams of becoming a doctor, and the only man she ever loved. A miracle saved the first two. Sixteen years later she is getting her second chance at love.

Secrets kept them apart. Will the truth separate them forever?

                            MY REVIEW
Welcome back to the NFL and the golden boy Gaige Benson . The hottest quarterback out there but on the night of his draft pick . His father is a horrific accident that causes a girl to go blind. Gaige is there to corral his father and check out the girl that is where love hits and then goes haywire . Gaige and Violet have had 16 years of misunderstanding and what ifs .
I fell in love with Gaige and Violet, they are a sweet couple that will melt your heart. Gaige is a good guy in a sport where you are suppose to be cocky and have swagger . He has endured so much in his life. We see him as cocky but sweet as you read the story he has many layers to him . When he finally has Violet back in his life everything is right but there is still something dark hiding between them . Violet almost lost it once and she came out stronger and more alive . She is the one person that can handle Gaige and will put him in his place more times then none .
This was a fast read for me and it is a nice way to end the series . Gaige and Violet are the cutest couple and will make you want to fall in love with them .  This would make a great summer read for the beach or the pool.

GOOD THURSDAY EVERYONE

Good Thursday morning everyone . Yes I am back I took some time off to get caught up on all the reading I have to do . One of the books I was dying to get finished THE SANDRIAN CHRONICLES
WRITTEN IN BLOOD by Keith Montgomery.

                           BOOK BLURB

Two hunters pursue the same prey.
Fate has forged the slayer, Trey Thomas and the Sandrian vampire, Adalius, two natural enemies, into an uneasy alliance against an evil more powerful than either have ever faced. Only together do they stand a chance of defeating Anna; if they don’t destroy each other first. As they pursue Anna, the apprehensive Lycan watch as a confrontation looms on the horizon between vampires, the New Bloods and the Old Guard, which threatens to plunge the vampire world into civil war and trigger an all-out supernatural conflict which in the end could destroy them all.

                          MY REVIEW
I started reading this book with no prejudice against vampires and lycans . There are so many books out there what could be new about this book . Well when I started this book I was instantly sucked in and damn I couldn't put the book down I was so drawn to the story line and the characters. The author takes two super naturals that are suppose to hate each other and put them together to go after one that is so evil it will take them all to kill her.
This book is so well written it read like a movie . The characters are so well written and complex . You just want to make sure they are alive and kicking in the end . Adalius is a vampire with a gift, he can walk in the daylight and has a heartbeat . They call him a Sandrian and he is an enforcer that is bent on revenge against Anna. You can see that he is in so much pain from what Anna has done to him and his family. He is such a strong alpha male that is all business and doesn't want anyone or anything to get in his way . Anna is down right evil, she is so well written sexy and alluring but oh so deadly.  She is a true vampire in all the evil sense. She wants to take over the world basically and will do anything to make it happen . She and Adalius have a past together which adds even more tension to the mix . It feels like they love to hate each other and Anna is willing to do anything to make sure Adalius isn't happy in his life .
Then there are the hunters/slayers . Trey and the gang are all human but it seems like they are super heroes in the way they are . They team up with Adalius and his brother to help take down Anna
There are so many great characters in this book too many to mention. But they all work into the story very well . I must say when I was reading these characters I had actors already lined up for the movie version.
This is one action packed book  you will not be disappointed at all . The characters will come alive for you and there are so many twists and turns that will keep your reading well past you bed time. There were a few night where I was reading well past my bedtime . I must say if you like the UNDERWORLD movies you will love this book . This is a great addition to the Vampire and Lycan genre and no these Vampires don't sparkle, they will kick your ass.  I will say it is a long book but you won't realize it . So if you want a great book that will have you reading well past your bedtime and suffering a book hangover the next day . Check out the SANDRIAN CHRONICLES by Keith Montgomery.

WOOOHOOO ITS FRIDAY

WOOOOHOOOOOOO its Friday the trailer if packed for the weekend my books are bought for some pool reading . Today we are going to review a debut novella by G.E Rome  SKINS .

                            BOOK BLURB

Officer John Bluger. A rookie detective that comes right out the academy. Stumbles upon the most gruesome murder scene ever witness in his city. John along with his Lt. Liz McCaffin must race against time to catch this deranged killer before he kills again.

                         MY REVIEW
I must admit this story really intrigued me when I first saw it. The cover alone says creepy things are going to happen . Meet rookie detective John Bluger , a by the code guy who is just fresh out of police academy . He is thrown into a really gruesome case involving murder . Will he an his partner solve the crime before he kills again
I started reading this book and was like the characters are really good and the story is a really great concept . The character of John is kind of complex . he is just out of the police academy and he stumbles upon a murder . He is kind of cocky at fist but you see him get humbled as the story goes on
His partner is a bit of a strange duck and you have to watch out for her . She is kind of shady and you just can't get a read on her . They work the case together and  well I will leave it there cause there is a twist that will blow your socks off at the end .
There were a few spelling errors that need to be corrected and the first chapter that needs to be stream lined . Over all I really liked the story line and the characters will tug at your heart strings . I believe it could of been a bit longer so he could of gone more in depth on the character building . Other then that the story was really good and such a twist at the end is a great way to end it . So if you want to take a chance on a short story that will leave you thinking check out SKINS  G.E  Rome
we give this book a 3.5 stars out of 5

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE EVERYONE

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE everyone man have I got the book for your weekend.  PERK NOIR  A Mason Barnes mystery by Chris Garson .

                            BOOK BLURB

Meet Mason Ezekiel Barnes, former NFL tackle turned successful author of the naughty ninja adventure series Mia Killjoy. Mason is obsessed with winning a Pulitzer and is thwarted by his fellow author and nemesis, the twerpy little gnome Conrad Bancroft. Mason spends his days writing at a local cafe, Perk Noir, the one-of-a-kind jazz coffee shop where he and Bancroft ply their craft. The joint is thick with mysteries. Mason is obsessed with the life of jazz great Earl ‘Lightning’ Perkins, the legend and former owner of the Perk Noir. Mason is convinced that Lightning has a hidden past and he’s determined to find it and catapult himself to greatness and the coveted Pulitzer once he writes his greatest story yet. One day, unexpectedly in walks Shelly, a Mia Killjoy super fan girl who happens to have a mysterious pocket watch she recently inherited from her grandfather. Shelly convinces Mason to assist her in unravelling its history. Join along with Mason and Shelly as they find themselves embroiled in a deeper mystery than they could ever have imagined, full of twists and turns, and surprises that pop up around every corner. Perk Noir is full of comedic relief, pop culture, NFL, jazz, a little touch of romance, and flashbacks of Lightning and his family during both the first half of the 20th century and later during the Civil Rights movement. Mason and Shelly and their adventures is a fun filled thrill ride that will appeal to all readers, there is something for everyone at the Perk.

                            MY REVIEW
I must say that I was intrigued when I was told about this book. I am a sucker for a well written mystery and I must say this one is very well written . Who knew that you could write a mystery with a coffee shop as the center of all what goes on . This is where we meet Mason a big ole country boy , ex football player and writer.  We also meet the memory of Earl Lightening Perkins a jazz player and former owner of Perk Noir. The story will take you on an adventure as you read there is also a second part to this book and its about concussions in the NFL and it adds to the story very nicely.  I won't go into anymore detail about that part , you have to read that for yourself .
I will say the characters are so well written and complex . The main character in the book for me is actually PERK NOIR, the jazz inspired coffee house. The shop holds so many memories and secrets that are just waiting to be unraveled. Mason is a good ole boy who use to play football, loves his dog and writes about a spy named Mia with her killer vagina . He is also on a quest to become an all knowing Perk kensie on all things lightening Perkins . When we first meet Mason  we think of him as a good ole boy that loves his coffee and writing . As the story goes along there is much more going on inside that head of Mason's. He is suffering from something that happened in his NFL days that are making him rethink his sanity at one point . When we meet Shelly she is the quintessential fan girl / cosplayer . As we watch her and Mason grow closer we see them both mature and become more to each other then they want to admit. She is the kick in the ass that Mason needs to get through what he needs to do . To me they are a pretty kick ass couple that grow stronger with each turn of the page.
This book is a great weekend read . The author takes us on such an adventure and mixes in a little danger and romance.  This book had me reading well into the night I just couldn't put it down . To me it had it all, history, some good comic relief and great pop culture references that will keep you reading . The big twist at the end was a mind blower for me . I so didn't see it coming at all . I must say that I was giggling and laughing at a few scenes in this book and I was also on the edge of my seat throughout most of the reading . the author balanced the comedy and the seriousness of the book quite well .  I will also tell you and give you fair warning . If you start this book in the evening you will stay up late and have a book hangover. So if you want a great read for the lazy days at the cabin check it out .

HAPPY HUMP DAY EVERYONE

Hey guess what its Wednesday and I have just finished the unbelievable great book by a new author to me Matthew S. Cox and he has written the vampire book that makes all other vampires sparkle . Let me introduce you CHIAROSCURO The mouse and the candle

                            BOOK BLURB

God’s will be done.

After eleven years as a priest living by these words, Father Antonio Molinari never imagined who would teach his strongest lesson of faith―a vampire.

Part of a secret order within the Vatican, he is sent to investigate and debunk supernatural events. A case of possession brings him to the French countryside, where two local clergy offer him the chance of a lifetime. They claim to have captured a vampire, and beg his expertise in helping them study the fiend.

But when their monster turns out to be a little girl, cursed to spend eternity hiding from the sun, he cannot bring himself to destroy her. The priests, mistaking his compassion for diabolism, panic and his efforts to protect an innocent child prove fatal.

He awakes caught between light and darkness.

Hunted by the Church he once served as well as the fiends he once destroyed, Father Molinari clings to the faith that there is still room for him in God’s plan.

But God is quiet, and the darkness so tempting.

                            MY REVIEW
When I was first told about this book by a great friend of mine I was intrigued and a little scared to read . My first thoughts were another vampire book what blood sucking alpha male will they have and what unsuspecting young woman would they sick him on . As I read the book blurb for the book I was like wow , this is a totally new take on the Vampire and the repercussions of walking between the light and the dark. This book is more then just your run of the mill vampires and the young girls that fall for them . This is about two souls that battle the demons that hide in the dark as they walk the path of light .
The author has written two very strong lead characters for we have Father Antonio Molinari, a Vatican priest that is sent out by a secret order to deal with demons and all things evil . He is called upon to rid the small church of its greatest evil . A young girl named Sabine, she is more then just an innocent girl she is also a vampire . At the beginning of the story we Father Molinari as s strong priest that knows right from wrong . good versus evil and is willing to help rid the world of the evil. As we see him meet Sabine you see him take a step back and really look at the young girl . He wonders how one looking so innocent be so evil. He takes on a fatherly role to her as he tries to figure her out . But things change and one fateful night throws these two characters together and keeps them together.
Sabine is the little girl that everyone wants dead , she is innocent and so sweet, but she is also cunning in the sense of she will charm you with her sweetness. When we first meet her, she is held captive by the church in a dungeon. She charms Father Molinari from the beginning . After the fateful night they become inseparable and travel through their long lives together . Father Molinari becoming a father figure to young Sabine. They help each other staying on the side of the light and fighting the temptation to succumb to the darkness that is the evil . Along the way they meet people that help them and hide them during the day and some that want to kill them .
This book is to me more then a vampire book , it is also a book on the love between a father and a daughter. The trials that they go through to keep together . The author takes us on a epic journey that's starts in the year 1885 right up to today . We get to see them change and fight the darkness .
I must say this is one impressive well written book . The author really knows how to set the stage for his characters . You really start to care for these two characters and you will shed a tear of two as you read . This is a long book but you will fly through the pages , because you just can't put it down. I had a book hang over after reading , I kept saying to myself just one more chapter and it turned into 5 or 6 . So if you want a epic read this summer please check out this book . You will not be disappointed .

WELCOME MONDAY

Welcome Monday today I have a special treat for you . I simply adore this woman , she makes me laugh every time I read her books . Robyn Peterman has a new book out the third in the series . NO WERE TO RUN Shift happens book three

                            BOOK BLURB

My name is Dima and I’m a Dragon. I’m also going to die soon.

It's a battle I’ve waged most of my life, but now the odds are looking crappy. Before I go up flames, I have to find a way to save my horde and make sure my secret treasure is safe. There is one way I could stick around a bit longer, but the men I’ve met aren’t exactly lining up to save me.

What in hell does a Dragon Princess have to do to find a mate? Offing my father, the reviled Dragon King, would be one way to go. He has a penchant for eliminating any male who shows interest—not to mention he’s been trying to kill me for almost 500 years.

So my brilliant plan is to take out my father in a blaze of glory—pun intended. However, I have to suck it up and do some stuff I don’t want to do.

For example, getting along with Dragons who don’t trust me is a horrific challenge even though we share the same goal. That’s why I aligned myself with the rag tag pack of shifters who accepted me and my secret treasure unconditionally. They’re my friends now and I’m keeping them. I’ll fry anyone who dares to speak against my Werewolves, Werecows and the fabulous gay Vampyre named Dwayne.

Unfortunately the Weres who love me don’t have the kind of fire power I need to take out my father. To get that I have allied myself with a dangerous group of Dragons known as The Resistance. Staying away from the sexy, pompous, fire-breathing, blow hard of a leader is turning out to be a full time job. And no… he’s not even in the running for the mate. Mutual incineration would be inevitable—or sexual combustion.

You see… Dragons aren’t the easiest of the species to get along with. You can dress us up and take us out, but at the end of the day we’re still the idiots who like a little friendly blood shed and sex—make that lots of sex.

My life keeps getting more and more complicated, but I’ve run out of options. I’m about to run out of time too. I’m learning there’s no where to run and no where to hide from destiny.

                            MY REVIEW
Welcome to the wild and wacky world of Roby Peterman. This is the third book in her shift happens series . Welcome to  Dima's world , she is a dragon shifter that is out to keep her young son safe. That means killing her father and she just isn't sure on how she is going to do that. Now staying in Hung Island Georgia with Essie Hank and the rest of the gang . They form a plan to kill the dragon king , who by the way is Dimas father . She also has another secret that needs to be taken care of before she hits 500. She has to find her true mate . When she joins the resistance she also finds an arrogant egotistical dragon that pushes all her buttons. In the right way and all the right places, now she just has to get through the war and then maybe then there can be peace.
I must say I was so excited to read the continuing story of everyone in Hung Island . I have fallen in love with the characters . Everyone from Hank and Essie , who are hot by the way  Hank you want to climb him like a spider monkey. To Seth the reforming man whore of the werewolves , all in the name of love. Grandma and oh so gay vampire Dwayne are back . I must say I love Dwayne he is the comic relief in the stories and the stories he comes up with are hilarious. Oh I forgot the were cows are also back and deadly then ever. Welcome to the menagerie our newest kick ass heroine and the hot alpha man that is her mate . Dima and Nicolai . Dima is a reluctant dragon princess that is in protective mode since going into hiding to save herself . She is such a strong woman and is willing to give it all up to keep her son safe . Nicolai is the hot dragon that is leading the resistance , he has a few issues with anger until Dima shows up and then all he can think about is wanting her and keeping her safe . They are a great match for each other . They are fiery in and out of the bedroom and will do anything to keep each other safe .
I loved these characters , the author writes such strong female characters that will kick your ass just as soon as kiss you . She also puts her characters through a bit of hell before they realize that the man they are with is the one.
This book will make you laugh and shed a couple of tears , you will get sucked into the story from the very first page . You will learn some new ways to use the word ass in a word and sentence. The humor alone is worth the read. HEED THE WARNING  don't read this book in public . People will think you have gone off your rocker when you almost spew water out your nose . Trust me it happened to me at the drs office . So if you want a great summer time read . This is the series for you trust me on this one , it has kick ass heroines and hot alpha men and a gay vampire . What more could you ask for. So please check out one of the funniest series out there . I promise you will not be disappointed .

HAPPY THURSDAY ALL

Good Thursday all today we are going to review a western BLACK SHEEP by Mason Macrae

                            BOOK BLURB

Dave McCabe rides into town with one mission – to avenge his father’s death.

But he rides into the middle of a range war between Gordon Mallory, a Cattle rancher, and Dan Bassett, who wants to move Mallory’s cattle off public land to make room for the railway.

Bassett is pulling out every dirty trick in the book to get Mallory away, including moving sheep into the land where his cattle are grazing.

Cattle and sheep don’t mix, and it seems like Mallory and Bassett are just as bad for each other.

McCabe’s only hope is to make the two men, Mallory and Bassett, get together and sort this thing out before matters get any worse.

But people from both sides keep showing up dead and the body count is growing with each passing day.

Then Mallory’s pretty daughters get involved.

And just when it looks like things can’t get any worse, somebody murders the Sheriff.

McCabe came to the town to bring justice, but his arrival could be the spark that sets the whole town ablaze…

Jam-packed with heart-racing action and bitter feuds, Black Sheep is a tale of honour, loyalty and justice.

                              MY REVIEW
I started reading this book and fell in love with it . It is a classic old time western novel that will transport you back to the time of cowboys evil land barons and justice. There is a little bit of romance thrown in for the main characters .
The characters are so well written and complex . You will either hate them or cheer for them as you read . McCabe is the main character and he is out for justice . He heads to town where he is caught in the middle of a range war. Bassett is the bad guy in this novel, he is trying to get the land that a neighbour has. He is wanting the public land that Mallory's cattle are grazing . He does everything dirty. He reminds me of the old time bad guy in the westerns of old . I could picture him in a black suit and black hat  commanding everyone in town . Mallory is the average cowboy trying to survive . He is a guy just fighting to survive and his cows will do it . He fights hard and wants to survive .
I must say that all the characters that are in the book are so well written and have such back stories you will fall in love with them.
I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book, its been awhile since I have read such a good western .
The author paints a great picture of the old west and of cowboys and range wars. We are taken on a whirlwind ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat . There is more then just a range war going on , there is some romance mixed in. The pace is great and the story line will take you back in time to those dusty days of yore . So if you want a good western to pass the time with at the lake . Check it out BLACK SHEEP.

HAPPY HUMP DAY ALL

HAPPY HUMP DAY ALL Today we are celebrating the release of T. Strange's new release . The second book in her UNDEAD CANADIAN series . Check out MY ZOMBIE FIANCE .

Edward Grey is no stranger to the undead; since raising his cat as a zombie when he was a child, he and his mentor Mariel have explored and developed his power as a necromancer. Despite everything he's learned, as a necromancer and a medical student, he's never encountered a ghost.

While Mariel is unreachable in Haiti on mysterious business, a ghost wakes Edward in the middle of the night, claiming to be his grandfather. When the ghost offers to teach him about this different form of un death, Edward has little choice but to trust the spirit.

After receiving a phone call from a young girl claiming her father is possessed, Edward and his Undead Canadian fiancé, Kit, must travel to an acreage in Kingston…Ontario.

The haunting proves far more complicated than Edward could ever have guessed, and he finds himself pitted against an ancient evil determined to engulf everyone on the farm.

Edward's love and connection to Kit will be tested, and his necromancy stretched to his limits as he has to find—and destroy—a twisted spirit more powerful than anything he's ever encountered.

GOOD MONDAY ALL

Good Monday all sorry I am late with my blog post today between puppy and dodging storms its been a long day . Today we are going to review a new author to me . MY ZOMBIE FIANCE by T.Strange.

                            BOOK BLURB

Edward Grey is no stranger to the undead; since raising his cat as a zombie when he was a child, he and his mentor Mariel have explored and developed his power as a necromancer. Despite everything he's learned, as a necromancer and a medical student, he's never encountered a ghost.

                      MY REVIEW
This is the second book in the Undead Canadian series . I must say this book picks right up where book one has left off. We have Edward a young medical student/ necromancer and his sexy Canadian zombie boyfriend Kit . They are on an adventure after receiving a call from Kingston Ontario they are on the way home to Kit's family farm where they are up against the worst evil possible . Will they survived the evil and will their love survive . You will have to read to find out .
I fell in love with Edward and Kit from the first book and they made me fall in love with them even more in book 2 . Edward is still the geeky nerdy medical student but he is getting stronger and stronger as he goes through book two. He is put through the wringer in this book . The author took him on a roller coaster this time . Kit is the calming effect on Edward and for a zombie Kit is pretty fricken hot . He does go through some trials throughout this book also . but it brings Edward and Kit closer together . They are such good characters and you will have no problem falling for these two . They are so cute together and you will giggle at some the things get into.
This is the second book I have read by this author and I was so enthralled, the author takes us on such an adventure with each turn of the page. This is such a great twist on the zombie genre. This zombie isn't the typical  zombie book. Kit is a talking, walking , loving man that ok needs to have a little maintenance  every now and then. You will shed a tear and you will laugh , trust me you will laugh.. There is a love story and a paranormal story all rolled into one in this book . Oh this is a m/m story line which didn't bother me at all  the characters are so well written. So if you want a cool series that will make you laugh and maybe shed a tear or two . This would make a great summer read for those who want something different. Check out the series .

GOOD FRIDAY ALL

Good Friday all . Have you ever had a book that made you soooo upset you wanted to strangle the author . Well this book had me doing that . Let me introduce you to book 3 of the dead and alive series  DEAD & ALIVE BROKEN by I.J Smith.

                            BOOK BLURB

Six months after the events of Dead & Alive Sacrifice, the survivors have now taken refuge in a school. With Frank making plans for the future, the others try to live a peaceful life. But an evil force will bring them a war, they are not ready for.

                          MY REVIEW
This book starts 6 months after sacrifice ended , the survivors are now in a school taking refuge .  Frank and the gang are making it work and keeping the school safe . But there is an evil that is lurking out there ready to attack them at any moment . Will they survive the zombies and will they survive the new threat .
I must say this is the best book of the series so far. The author really puts us through the ringer with this one . There was so much going on in this book. We have the gang living their lives and all of a sudden we have a new evil force that is trying to take the school . They are Mercy and they are marauders that just take and will kill just to prove a point . I cried cause they just killed a character bam and she was gone. They are evil and I mean evil, and just take. Frank and the gang have to figure out how to survive this. When out of nowhere an old friend comes back and starts fighting with them. I am not going to tell you who comes back, you have to read to find that out . It gave me chills and I got all excited when I was reading and realized that the character came back . It was so cool . But is was bitter sweet also cause there was pain and death that come comes along with this character .
I must say this book had me crying and screaming and wanting to throw my kindle across the room a few times reading this book. There is so much blood spilled and not just from the zombies . The author puts us through the ringer with this one . It has a walking dead vibe to it in some ways which I liked . it was so intense and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this one . I must say I really disliked the author after I read the scene where he decided to kill off a beloved character . But all is good now I have come to terms with it and I am moving on. So if you want a great series of books for a great summer read . Check out the DEAD & ALIVE series by I.J Smith

GOOD THURSDAY EVERYONE

Good Thursday all, wow this week is going so fast. Today we are going to review MARIA'S WORLD by Kristal McKerrington and Joe E Legend

                            BOOK BLURB

Marie's World tells a tale of love gone wrong, of doing the right thing even if it hurts and how to survive when your world is turned upside down.
Famed dancer, actress and Reality TV star Marie returns from LA to her hometown in Scotland to escape the fall-out from the damaging revelations in her twin sister Layla's thinly-disguised novel. As she attempts to rebuild her life and career with her partner Derek, Marie's long-repressed memories and emotions come flooding to the surface, and she finds herself menaced by the world of her former husband, the only man she has ever truly loved and now her most dangerous adversary.

                           MY REVIEW
I must say I was surprised by this book , I was sucked in to Marie's story .  She is a dancer , actress who has returned home to Scotland to figure out what she needs to do after the fall out of the scathing book her twin sister Layla has written. While in Scotland she is trying to rebuild her reputation and bombarded with memories of the man she loved once and thrown into his world . Will she survive.
I must say I started reading this book I kind of got sucked in the characters are well written .  Marie is a tough as nails and will fight for her life and the lives of the people she loves . All her dreams are about to come falling down around her because of the book her sister , her twin wants to write . Maria fights her sister and we see them come to odds with each other . She clashes with all that come in her way. There are a lot of characters in this book that are all essential to the plot of the story  They are well written and you will fall for a few of them and will hate others .
I must say this book takes a bit to get into , I found it a bit confusing at the beginning.  Once you get past the first 2 chapters you will fall in love with this story . It has suspense and some romance . You want to keep you reading . The author doesn't give away a lot until last few chapters . The ending went differently then how I thought it would go . I mean Marie has been through soo much to have it end the way it did . I will tell you that it does have a cliff hanger . I can't wait to read book two so I can see how things are resolved . Over all I really liked this book and if you can get through the first couple of chapters with all the characters an back stories  you are in for one hell of a ride . So strap on your seatbelt and hop on for the ride . I promise you will in for a great ride . Check it out for a great summer read by the pool or at the cabin on a rainy day.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL MY AMERICAN READERS

Good Monday all . hope you all are having a great Monday . Today we are going to freak out your holiday and tell you about a great new book that I was given the heads up on. THE SANGUINARIAN ID by L.M Labat is that horror book you can't put down

                            BOOK BLURB

She’s been beaten, stabbed, poisoned, and shot, but Hael refuses to die. In her pursuit for vengeance and her origin, the dhampir Hael hunts down the madman responsible for her fateful transformation. As this half-vampire juggernauts her way through a world at war, Hael battles hordes of Nazi soldiers and struggles to maintain her sanity. However, while Hael gathers knowledge on how to trap and kill her target, her adversary’s network is expanding at an exponential rate; his sick obsession with Hael grows deeper. Will she have her revenge? Will she find her origin? Or, will she crumble beneath her own insidious bloodlust?

                        MY REVIEW
What do you get when you combine Nazis , a dhampir and an evil insane asylum. You get the makings of a great horror story . The author draws from various aspects of Vampire lore to bring us as unusual story of a young girl  who has been through hell first off at the hands of family then in an asylum where true madmen reside. She is tested on and all around used until the day she is taken away. As Hael grows up she starts to hunt down the mad man that did this to her . She battles Nazi soldiers while collecting info on the man that haunts her.  Along the way she finds others that will help her because they have their own reasons to want him dead . Will they survive the onslaught of evil that is coming their way .
I really loved this book, I got caught up in the story line . The way the author takes us on this incredible story. What really got me was the author added illustrations to the book . I so could see this book as graphic novel . They really added to the story as the author did is as part of the doctor's journal . It added so much to the story.  I must say this book had me turning pages all night long ..
The characters are so well written and complex . You really start to feel for Hael , This poor girl has gone through hell and back and comes out the other side . She has such a fighting spirit and will do anything it takes to bring down the evil that did this to her. Josef is her trusty partner , he is such a complex guy . You can tell he wants to take care of Hael but then he knows that she can take care of herself. He knows she is dhampir but that doesn't mean that he can't take care of her . Its so sweet to see them interacting with each other. You can clearly see that he cares for her and she cares for him . With the evil they have to take care of . The evil in the book are two fold , we have the evil dr Alrich the man doing the evil tests on women in the asylum and then the true evil Mendelson we really aren't sure what he is besides evil in carnet. He actually gave me the creeps when I was reading him . He was so evil you will most definitely hate him as soon as you start to read him . The cast of characters that surround Hael and Josef are diverse and complex and add more to the story.
I must say when I first started this book I was hooked . The author takes us on a journey that will make you squirm in your seat . L.M weaves a gothic tale with such intensity that will blow you away.   Pulling from various aspects of the vampire culture makes this book different and readable , They aren't your ordinary vampires, which to me is a nice read  as I have read so many vampire books. I will tell you one thing the author left us with a cliff hanger, I can't wait to read the second installment of this story. I want to know what is going to  happen and will she get her revenge. This would be a great read on a rainy day . Trust me when I say find someplace comfortable to read this book cause you will not get up until you are done . I know I didn't move until I was done . If want a great gothic horror story that will take you to places where you don't want to go. Check out this book you will not be disappointed. Also check out the illustrations in this book they add so much to the book.

Welcome to STRIDENT HOUSE

                         MY REVIEW
What do you do when you come face to face with evil. Do you turn and run or do you stay in fight .  In the case of Strident house you stay and fight. Meet Kit and Brandon , who are heading back to Indianapolis to plan their mother's funeral and to take care of their mentally challenged brother Luke.  They find out that Luke has been placed in Strident house a place that can take care of his needs . But things aren't all they seem there are evil things going on. Will they survive the dark energy and will the paranormal team come out it one piece.
This book has it all , romance . mystery and intrigue. I got swept away into the story, the characters are well developed and you start to feel for them as you read . The main characters Kit and Brandon are twins but also polar opposites of each other . Kit is a type A personality , she is an overachiever and is tightly wound lawyer who has to have the last word in everything . Brandon is more laid back and easy going . He calms Kit down actually and helps her out . The rest of the supporting cast of characters are very well developed and help Kit and Brandon out. When they go ghost hunting you see the whole team pull together really fast to help get rid of the evil .
I must admit that this is the first book I have read by these authors . I thoroughly enjoyed the way the authors sucked you into the story. The twists and turns kept me reading . I was so trying to figure out what was happening all the way through.  There was just a couple of things that kept me from really loving the story . There were some parts that just kind of dragged a bit for me . I felt like it could of been a little bit more action . Over all I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for anyone who likes a good paranormal mystery story . This would be a good book to read around the camp fire or at the beach . So check it out
