WELCOME TO THE WEEKEND

Welcome to Friday all . I hope that everyone is having a good day . Today we are going to review Denise Grover Swank's new book written under D.G Swank . Lets check out OF ASH AND SPIRIT  .

                            BOOK BLURB

The first book in a Curse Keepers spinoff series by New York Times bestselling author Denise Grover Swank writing as D.G. Swank.

Who's afraid of ghosts? Not Piper Lancaster, because even though she's a ghost whisperer, she's a skeptic. Piper helps her clients settle their inner demons, and that's good enough for her-even if ghosts aren't real.

That is until the astonishing reappearance of the ruins of the Lost Colony of Roanoke turns her world upside down. Now belief in the supernatural is at an all-time high, and people are seeing ghosts in every shadow.

There's one problem-the reemergence of the Lost Colony has awakened both the supernatural world and Piper's very real talent as a medium. The first time she actually sees a ghost, she thinks it's a hallucination, a joke, anything but what it really is.

But she's soon confronted with evidence she can't deny. Ghosts exist, and worse, so do demons. As if that weren't enough, Asheville has a new resident demon that's intent on killing her, and a sinfully handsome stranger who says she's the only one who can destroy it.

Barely able to accept the complete reversal in her convictions, Piper must discover-and embrace-her true identity before it's too late.

                           MY REVIEW

This is the first book in a new series and a spin off of the CURSE KEEPERS  series . Which I loved and this series is no exception . Meet Piper Lancaster and her friends . She is a ghost hunter but also a skeptic . Until the day the colony of Roanoke reappears and demons start walking the earth and ghosts start showing up warning Piper . With time running out for her to find some daggers her father told her to find before her 25 birthday . Demons out to destroy her . A secret organization that is wanting her . Will she survive to learn the ways she is suppose to survive . With the help of her friends she will figure it all out .
I really like Piper , she is the perfect mixture of vulnerable and kick butt heroine . She has gone through so much in her young life . Watching her parents being murdered at the age of ten and living with her grandmother . Has molded her in a way that makes her strong but also very naïve .The cast of characters that help and well also hinder Piper are vast and diverse . Abel we really don't know what he is and well hunky Jack the priest is just too cute to be a priest . At one moment you think well Jack is the one that is going to hurt Piper and then in the next breath you are screaming that Abel doesn't have Piper's interest at heart. Trust me you will want to hug and stab both men through out the book .
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book as soon as I heard it was being written . I loved the first series and I so wanted to see where the author was taking it .This story will have you on the edge of your seat most of the time . It does start off a little slow but does pick up and then you are on a roller coaster ride where you are hanging on for dear life . I love the fact that the author actually mixes the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke and a great urban fantasy . You can read this series without reading the original series and still know what is going on . This book will keep you reading well past your bed time . What is great about this book is that your daughters can read it right along with you . They will love it too , So if you want a good read check it out You will not be disappointed .

GOOD WEDNESDAY ALL

Good Wednesday all , today we are going to review an author I love . J.D Brown and her new book NEVER TRUST A DEMON ( A Daughters of Eve book 2 )

                            BOOK BLURB

The rules for demon slaying are simple.
Rule #2: Never trust a demon.
...Unless Heaven tries to kill you.

It’s been four weeks since the birthday from Hell, and Lyn’s life is finally getting back to normal. Or as normal as it can be for a P.I. with the ability to see demons.

Then Sam comes back.

It seems the wicked, sexy, demon who shares her soul isn’t done using her. Good thing she’s determined to end him. But when Heaven sends an angel to assassinate her, Lyn’s determination goes up in smoke.

Sam offers protection, but for how long and at what cost? And why the heck does The Big Man Upstairs want her dead?

Never Trust a Demon is the second book in the Daughter of Eve series. If you like young, fresh urban fantasy with a kickass heroine, lots of goofy comedy, and a complicated paranormal romance, then you’ll love this new page turner by award-winning author J.D. Brown.

Perfect for fans of Darynda Jones, Illona Andrews, and Izzy Shows.

Grab your copy and start slaying today!

                      MY REVIEW

What do you do four weeks after the birthday from hell , you try and get back to normal . That's what Lyn is trying to do until she is being tracked by a side that she really didn't think she would be fighting against . Sam the sexy demon is offering protection but they just don' know for how long . Will they all survive the attacks and will they figure out why the big guy upstairs wants her dead .
This is the second book in the series and I must say the characters are getting better . Lyn is such a smart aleck . She is sassy and a laugh riot . She is having such a bad time . Trying to figure out what is going on . She always seems like she is too late to the party .She goes through heartbreak in this installment . I mean big heart break . She also thinks she is going crazy a few times . I love Lyn so much she is fun to read . Sam well we just don't know what he is up to and actually what he is . He is smoking hot and still all sexy as sin . But you have to decide if he is a good guy or a bad guy . He does some things that will let you honestly think he is actually a really good guy  Angie she is well lets just say she has her hands full trying to keep Lyn safe . There is more to her also and we find out a lot more in this book . There is also a tragedy that rocks Angie's existence . Oh and then there is detective Noah Jackson , he is well he is hot but you just can't trust him . He is more then a detective that everyone wants to sleep with . These characters have grown so much from the first book and the author really puts them  through the ringer . You almost feel sorry for them a few times . I said almost feel sorry for them .
This is a laugh out loud read that will keep you laughing all the way through. The author really takes her characters in so many new directions and does it with a bunch of sass and hilarity . That will keep you on the edge of your seat laughing hysterically through out . You will have so much fun reading this book.  Just be prepared to laugh and have fun with this series . I will warn you that there is a big whopping cliff hanger but that isn't bad . Well it kind of is only because the author has to write the third book . So if you want a summer read to end out the season check out the DAUGHTERS OF EVE series .

GOOD MONDAY

Good Monday all , I hope that everyone is surviving the heat or storms that are happening all around us lately . I personally have been trying to stay cool and while doing that I have caught up on all my reading , reading some great books . Today we are going to review THE BOOK OF UNWINDING (the witches of New Orleans book 2) by J.D Horn

                            BOOK BLURB

The struggle for power continues in the sequel to The King of Bones and Ashes from Wall Street Journal bestselling author J.D. Horn.
With their magic diminishing, warring factions of New Orleans witches desperately search for the Book of the Unwinding—a legendary grimoire, hidden by spells, that holds the key to unimaginable powers. As a ruthless struggle erupts in a maelstrom of malevolent magic, psychic Nathalie Boudreau finds her destiny intertwined with that of an exiled witch.
Her name is Alice Marin, a vulnerable young woman trapped in a realm of illusion. Only Nathalie can free her, but first she must come to understand and master her own extraordinary abilities.
Now, in a world where betrayals have become the order of the day, it will fall to two women to restore rightful balance amid terrifying chaos.

                        MY REVIEW
Welcome back to New Orleans and the witches of the Martin family . Nathalie Boudreau a young psychic is in the middle of a struggle to control the magic erupts . Her destiny lies with Alice Martin who is trapped in the realm illusion. Nathalie is the only one that can save her and set the balance back in place.
The characters in this book have surely grown up . They are well written and you really start to care for some of them . Nathalie is one of the main characters and she is always in the place where she is needed at the right time . She comes into her own and we see her fight really hard to help Alice . Who I really loved in the first book . She is trapped and is slowly being drained of her powers by her father . Who wants to come back into the world . Lissette is finally understanding her family and what is going on . But will it be too late for them .  She is a character that you just don't know which way she is going to go . In this book we have also seen that the characters have grown and evolved in their magic or the lack of magic in some cases .
I truly love this authors writing style , he takes us on a journey through magical world and might scare us a bit  along the way . The author uses New Orleans as a character all in its own right . He adds a lot of the lore and magic of the city . I got sucked up in all the magic of this book . There were a few parts where it felt a little slow and the characters seemed a little stuck  Over all I truly enjoyed this book and loved the characters . This book is gritty and you see that all magic isn't good . You will be on the edge of your seat most of the way through this book . So if you like a more dark fantasy book this is the one for you . This can be read as a stand alone but if you really want to get to know the characters you should read King of Blood and Bones . So check it out for your late summer reading list .

GOOD MONDAY ALL

Good Monday all , happy long weekend to those like me are celebrating today . Today we are going to review ZERO REPEAT FOREVER by G.S Prendergast

                           BOOK BLURB

The 5th Wave meets Beauty and the Beast in this fast-paced and heart-stopping novel about an invasion of murderous creatures and one girl fighting for her life at the end of the world.

He has no voice or name, only a rank, Eighth. He doesn’t know the details of the mission, only the directives that hum in his mind.
Dart the humans. Leave them where they fall.
His job is to protect his Offside. Let her do the shooting.
Until a human kills her…

Sixteen-year-old Raven is at summer camp when the terrifying armored Nahx invade. Isolated in the wilderness, Raven and her fellow campers can only stay put. Await rescue. Raven doesn’t like feeling helpless, but what choice does she have?

Then a Nahx kills her boyfriend.

Thrown together in a violent, unfamiliar world, Eighth and Raven should feel only hate and fear. But when Raven is injured, and Eighth deserts his unit, their survival comes to depend on trusting each other…

                         MY REVIEW
When Raven and her best friends are sent to a wilderness camp . Things go from bad to worse when an alien invasion happens . Waiting at the camp for rescue was the safest thing to do until one killed her boyfriend . The all bets were off when Raven gets hurt and Eight a drone of the aliens deserts his unit and helps out Raven . Their survival depends on each of them trusting each other . Will they survive
This is a twist on beauty and the beast with an alien twist . The characters were well written . Raven is the heroine but she isn't invincible . She shows her age a few times which endeared her to me . She was a teen ager and scared but she did what she had to do to stay alive. Eight has no name , no identity all he is programed to do is dart the earthlings and just keep going . But when he looses his partner he starts to have feelings of desertion . He is an intriguing character because he doesn't speak and everything is said internally . They are good together and they actually work good together .
This book reminds me of the 5th wave , just a little slower . The author takes us on a rollercoaster ride across Canada. Which I loved cause hardly any sci fi fantasy books are written with Canada in mind as the place where it could happen . I will say the book is slow and it takes a bit to get into it but once you do it is a good read . I was shocked that there was a cliff hanger at the end. Over all I really liked this story and the characters . This would be a great summer read for your teen . Have them check it out they won't be disappointed
