CURSE BREAKERS by Denise Grover Swank

BOOK BLURB

For more than four hundred years, the Curse Keepers guarded the barrier between the human and spirit realms. All that changed the day Ellie Lancaster met Collin Dailey. Prophecy demanded they defend the world from evil?even as it ignited a passion that threatened to consume them both.

Now Ellie faces a frightening new life, abandoned by the man she loves and tormented by malevolent spirits unleashing their vengeance upon the earth. Her only shot at protecting humanity?and herself?from the demon scourge is to claim the mark of the god Ahone as her own. Finding it means trusting Dr. David Preston, a handsome professor of Native American studies whose skepticism is surpassed only by his attraction to Ellie. Together they must finish what the Curse Keepers began, defying the forces of darkness to face hell on earth?and unlock the truth of Ellie's destiny.(less)

MY REVIEW
First off I just want to say this is an awesome series. I really, really liked the first book the CURSE KEEPERS but I fell in love with CURSE BREAKERS.  This book starts after the curse is broken and they are picking up the pieces of Ellie's fathers death. Ellie is mourning over his death and the loss of her love Collin. If you have read the first book you will understand why Ellie and Collin aren't together anymore. I will say it was bad really bad. As she struggles to remember the legend, she is being constantly harassed by spirits both good and bad. There are big ass  horned snakes  and many more ugly looking thngs out to get her. Her time is running out and she must find the mark of Ahone so she can fight Okeus. Who really has some plans for her, like using her .
As she fights for her life in walks David a gorgeous british professor. Who teaches native American history.  She goes to him for help and they end up together as they fight the demons.
Ellie has grown into a stronger person through all of dealings with the demons. She needs to fight and keep her love life in order. Also get ready for her best friends wedding. Its all in a days work for the daughter of the sea
Denise ramped it up a notch for book two. I started reading and couldn't stop until I had finished. The mix between the legends of the native americans and the lost colony Roanoke.  It just wants to make you keep reading and reading.
Denise has made Ellie grow up a bit in this installment. She is taking responsibilities of  what needs to be done. She just needs to remember more and figure out who she wants to be with . The introduction of David into Ellie's life . The way she feels about him, safe, secure and normal. Then there is Collin who keeps secrets and obviously if you read the first book , a bad guy. He is smoldering , hot and needs an attitude adjustment .  But also drives Ellie crazy with want and desire. She loves him. So what is a girl going to do . I hope she picks wisely. I am still voting for Collin. David to me is just to normal and maybe going to get hurt . But like I say I love me a bad boy anyway.
Denise will keep you on the edge of your seat , reading all night long. Start with THE CURSE KEEPERS  and then dive right into  THE CURSE BREAKERS.  I know you won't be disappointed at all .  Awesome summer read . I strongly recommend this series
EXPECTED RELEASE DATE FOR CURSE BREAKERS is May 20 2014
