GOOD MONDAY ALL
Good Monday all , hope you all had a great weekend . Today we are going to review PITFALL by Cameron Bane
BOOK BLURB
“I just added a new name to my short list of 'must-read' authors: Cameron Bane. 'Pitfall,' his just-released thriller, is chock-full of the action, gunplay, and well-crafted storytelling I love. And the star of this page-turner—former Army Ranger John Brenner—well, let’s just say in terms of skill, wit, and ability to kick some serious butt, Jack Reacher better watch out! Not for the faint-hearted, but definitely for those whose hearts pump hot for shoot-‘em-up adventures like 'Taken' and 'John Wick,' make 'Pitfall' your next read. It’s that good." —Robert Liparulo, bestselling author of COMES A HORSEMAN, GERM and the DREAMHOUSE KINGS series.
Life has never been easy for former Army Ranger John Brenner. The wounded Iraqi war vet and ex-cop must rely on his wits, his fists, and a wry sense of gallows humor to make it through each challenging day. For at his core, this transplanted West Virginian is a throwback to an antebellum time: he is a southern man of honor.
But his latest mission may be his last.
The task seems straightforward—find industrialist Jacob Cahill’s missing teenage daughter Sarah and bring her safely home. But for John Brenner, nothing ever goes quite as planned. In searching for the girl he will discover a new and unimaginable corruption hiding beneath a corporate façade … and come face to face with a ruthless killer known to his victims only by a macabre appellation: Boneless Chuck.
What begins as a simple disappearance morphs into something far more insidious as John finds himself plunged into a horrifying world of organ harvesting, torture, mutilation, and madness. Every dark trick John learned in his former trade of dealing death to the deserving will be brought to bear as he tries to keep his promise of bringing the girl back alive. In doing so, not only will his skills be tested to the breaking point, but his very sanity as he battles a grasping evil that stretches across the globe.
But darkness has met its match. Because sometimes it takes a man who’s spent quality time in the realms of the damned … to send someone else there. So strap down and hang on.
John Brenner has just been dropped into hell.
MY REVIEW
I started reading this book at the drs. office and got so entranced in the book , that I almost missed my name being called . I so got sucked into pages from the first chapter. Let me introduce you to Jack Brenner a retired army ranger and ex cop. He has had a very hard life and most of all he is a southern gentleman . He takes a case that was suppose to be easy but when is anything ever easy . He is confronted with an evil that reaches high and face to face with a ruthless killer named BONELESS CHUCK . Will he survive.
The characters in this book are well developed and very complex. The character of Jack is such a complex character . He is an retired army ranger who is also damaged but he is also very damaged. He works hard and has the sense to get things done . I really like his character and the way he gets things done . The bad guys in the book are evil and I mean really evil. They really do a number on our man.
This book had be me twisting in the wind most of the time , I was so engrossed . I was nervous and screaming at my computer most of the time . I was totally blown away . The writing is very good and the story flows so well. There is a little bit of a lag when Jack is hunting the killer down . But it doesn't take away from any of the story at all. This is a great book for a book hangover, and trust me you will be reading long into the night. The only thing was that not all the bad guys get caught . So here is hoping there is a book two for Jack and the gang . So if you want a good story with lots of intrigue and mystery

WELCOME TO HUNTER TUESDAY
Good Tuesday all , Have you guys ever had a book that you just couldn't put down . I haven't had one of those books in awhile. Until it picked up BLADE OF THE DESTROYER (The Last Bucelarii book one ) by Andy Peloquin.

BOOK BLURB
The Hunter of Voramis is the perfect assassin:
Ruthless, Unrelenting, Immortal.
Yet he is haunted by lost memories, bonded to a cursed dagger that feeds him power yet denies him peace of mind. Within him rages an unquenchable need for blood and death. When he accepts a contract to avenge the stolen innocence of a girl, the Hunter becomes the prey. The death of a seemingly random target sends him hurtling toward destruction, yet could his path also lead to the truth of his buried past?

MY REVIEW
What can you say about a book that grabs you from the very first page. You become a bit obsessed and read the whole book in like 3 days . I want to introduce you to HUNTER he is the perfect killing machine, ruthless and immortal. But he has a past that is buried deep inside him that is wanting to be released. An event turns the hunter into prey , will he survive the onslaught and exact the revenge.
How does an author capture my attention, well by taking a character that seems to be evil and make him into a hero in my eyes, well Andy Peloquin has done it . The book is dark and has a gothic feel to it . As you read you are transported to a time and a city that has thirteen gods and the poor are poor and the upper class are just into themselves.
The characters in this book are very complex, you don't know if they are good or evil. The Hunter was my all time favorite character. He is so complex , at the beginning it is all about the killer for hire. You see his thirst for the blood that he kills with his cursed dagger . As you read you see the Hunter change and it feels like he is becoming more human. You see his heart breaking as he finds out what the Bloody hand has done to his friends the beggars. Then when he comes out the other side you see a man reborn and ready to do what needs to be done. The supporting cast of characters are the epitome of good and evil. Farida is the epitome of goodness , she is sweet , kind and has a place in the Hunter's heart. She grabs at your heart strings and gets into your soul. You just want to hug her and keep her safe. On the evil side stands the Bloody hand and the dark heresy. They run the city behind the scenes , they kind of reminded be of the mob. They are running all the illegal stuff going on. They run with an iron fist and there is something more to them then you realize at the beginning .
The story is told by the Hunter's point of view , which is very difficult but he pulls it off with great ease . The story is a roller coaster of emotions, you will scream yell and shed a tear or two while reading. The author has created a world where you can have a man who starts off as killer and redeems himself an becomes the hero in his own. I will warn you there is a lot of violence in this story but it has to be there to keep the story moving along . So if you want a dark gothic book that has a man redeeming himself check it out. You will fall in love with the Hunter ,

GOOD MONDAY MORNING ALL
Good Monday morning all . Hope your labor day weekend is going great . Today we are going to review Ann Hunter's book BORN TO RUN North Oak book one .
BOOK BLURB
Alexandra Anderson is on the run from the law.
When the thirteen-year-old orphan can run no further, she collapses at the gates of the prestigious racing and breeding farm, North Oak. Horse racing strikes a deep chord in her. She hears a higher calling in the jingle jangle of bit and stirrup and in the thunder of hooves on the turn for home. It tells her she has a place in the world. But when the racing headlines find her on the front of every sports page, she realizes North Oak is no longer a safe haven.
Money can't buy love, but it just might secure Alex's future. Will everyone at North Oak still want to offer her a home when they learn of her unspeakable crime?
On the heels of Joanna Campbell’s beloved Thoroughbred Series, and Walter Farley’s Black Stallion, comes a brand new young adult horse racing series that will sweep you away like a runaway Thoroughbred.
MY REVIEW
I was so excited to see another horse book . As I started reading , it became more then just a horse book . Welcome to the world or North Oak a breeding farm for thoroughbreds and let me introduce you to Alexandra Anderson. An orphan that has gone through so much in her young life . She is trying to be tough and stay unattached to all people an feelings . When she is found and taken in she is scared and wondering if they will still want her after they find out the deep dark secrets that she is hiding
When I started to read this book, I knew that this way going to be way more then just about a girl and her horse. The author takes on a journey of self discovery and what love can do to a broken soul.
Her characters are complex and conflicted . The story line could be taken out of the pages of a newspaper. The horses are not put into the story line just for show . They are a big part of the story .
Alexandra is a great character . She is trying to be tough but deep down inside she is a scared little girl. She has been through so much in her young life. But she is also a survivor, she doesn't want to get involved with anyone cause of her past in the group home . She sees the love between the families but doesn't know how to react when they show her love. But as you read you see that Alex is starting to blossom under the care. She touches all the other characters in such profound ways. Especially Mr North who knows more then he is letting on. You can see how she has affected him and the rest as you read along .
I read this book in an afternoon. There are twists an turns that will keep you reading. There is so much that goes on , you won't be disappointed. There is a little bit of religion that goes on in the book but it is in appropriate places and doesn't overpower the book. This is a great book for the ages of 13- adult . The characters are great and the story flows with such ease . The ending kind of blew me away . This is a great start to hopefully a great new series . So if you want a great read with horses an complex characters . This will be the series for you .

GOOD FRIDAY ALL
Good Friday everyone , I know todays blog is a little late but after power outages and surges I am back. Today we are going to review GIRL IN THE MAZE by R.K JACKSON
BOOK BLURB
Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Paula Hawkins, and Tana French, R. K. Jackson's lyrical, twisty psychological thriller debut follows an aspiring journalist as she uncovers dark truths in a seaswept Southern town—aided by a mysterious outcast and pursued by a ruthless killer.
When Martha Covington moves to Amberleen, Georgia, after her release from a psychiatric ward, she thinks her breakdown is behind her. A small town with a rich history, Amberleen feels like a fresh start. Taking a summer internship with the local historical society, Martha is tasked with gathering the stories of the Geechee residents of nearby Shell Heap Island, the descendants of slaves who have lived by their own traditions for the last three hundred years.
As Martha delves into her work, the voices she thought she left behind start whispering again, and she begins to doubt her recovery. When a grisly murder occurs, Martha finds herself at the center of a perfect storm—and she's the perfect suspect. Without a soul to vouch for her innocence or her sanity, Martha disappears into the wilderness, battling the pull of madness and struggling to piece together a supernatural puzzle of age-old resentments, broken promises, and cold-blooded murder. She finds an unexpected ally in a handsome young man fighting his own battles. With his help, Martha journeys through a terrifying labyrinth—to find the truth and clear her name, if she can survive to tell the tale.
MY REVIEW
When I started this book I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into. The first couple of chapters had me wondering. But as I started to read I started to fall in love with the characters and the story line Let me introduce you to Martha Covington, a poor woman that has just been released from a psychiatric hospital. Now that she is cured she heads Amberleen Georgia to work on a history book about the rich history of the city and surrounding area. But alas she gets pulled into a mystery and she starts to hear voices . Now she has to figure out who the murderer is while she fights her own demons
This is the author's debut novel and she has created some very strong characters . Martha is both strong yet venerable at the same time . She has battled Schizophrenia and come out with meds . But she isn't have a miracle cure . She lives with her disease every day. The author didn't give her a miracle cure . Which was actually great to read , too many characters end up all cured . She worked with the disease and made a great story out of it. There a great mixture of supporting characters from the old lady in the shop that is more then just a potion's lady . To the greedy land developers. You don't really know who are the bad guys and the good guys through out the book .
The author takes great care handling all aspects of the story. She has created such and intriguing story. Full of suspense and maybe a giggle or two. She has wrapped the history of the city with a story of greedy land developer. The story is nicely written and it flows well. For a debut author she did a very good job. The characters are well written along with the story line . You will end up with a book hang over as you delve into this story . You will giggle and you will shed a tear or two , but over all you will cheer for the characters.

WELCOME TO HUMP DAY WEDNESDAY
Good Wednesday morning all . I hope you all are having a great day. Today we are going to review
STORIES THAT SHOULD NOT BE TOLD by Charles Riffle.
BOOK BLURB
A collection of horror/suspense short stories with a twist of comedy. A young man travels to the past (with the help of a magical trucker's cap) in an attempt to save his slain girlfriend, Are you prepared for the Stink Bug Apocalypse?, A bumbling but competent FBI Agent tracks a serial killer with the help of an eccentric informant, A supernatural expert recalls his ghost hunting days with a pair of odd brothers and other stories of horror and absurdity.
MY REVIEW
This was such a fun book for me to read . I love horror books but this book had horror and comedy.
The first story had me laughing out loud because I had a bug problem at on time. It made me think back and laugh.
The first story THE INFESTATION , you all know you hate them the stink bugs that invade areas every year. The characters in this story are just ordinary everyday citizens . It shows how one man's hysteria can take on a life of its own . Just get a few people to follow and you can get Armageddon . It is a very well written story that will make you giggle in some parts cause we have all been there with bugs .
The second story KAIJU GAS, Has a giant monster roaming in Vermont. A couple arguing in their car as they are driving home . Arguing about farting I presume , it had me giggling cause all couple argue about stupid thing. They aren't paying attention either . Come on you all have been there
The third story GARY'S DAY OFF . Is about a guy that doesn't like his job but is working long hours cause he likes the people . On his day off he has the worst day of his life. He ends up demon hunting at the old folks home . Gary is one pissed off LPN .
The third story SPECIAL AGENT RICHARD PETERS in the Case of the FRUGAL KILLER. Is the story of a serial killer and the FBI agent that is chasing him. But it has a twist . Richard Peters is an agent that is constantly being harassed by his partners , he is sent out to catch the frugal killer This one takes you on a run around and in the arms of serial killers. Its a take off on Hansel and Gretal as he ends up on a butcher block . Won't tell you anymore but just imagine what is going on.
The fourth story THE FAN . Is about a young man kidnapped and is going to die . But all he can talk about is paying his cell bill. He just doesn't get the fact that he is about to die. He becomes a fan and drives the killer crazy by asking tons of questions. I laughed so hard reading this one story , cause you can just picture the killer shaking his head while his prey drove him crazy.
The fifth book THE BROTHERS BEEF , This short is about three guys that go ghost hunting . The way they go about it is pretty funny . Donnie doesn't know what he is getting into . He thinks he going to clean pools. Reading this story reminds of GHOSTBUSTERS and how they go about it . It was a great story to read and I loved it .
The sixth story in the book is THE TIME DUSTIN WENT BACK IN TIME . It is about 2 best friends who are there for each other . Goblin is a geek and Dustin is grieving for his murdered girl friend. Goblin is trying to pull Dustin out of his grief but not doing a good job. One day Dustin gets a time traveling truckers hat . Where he travels back to help his girlfriend and that is where chaos ensues. I feel sorry for what poor Dustin has to go through while he is trying to get back home .I giggled at some scenes
The last story is ALEKZANDER VON THIRTENBURG. Let me introduce you to Alekzander the best vampire that ever lived . In his opinion that is. He has survived the stake and the holy water . He decides to take a trip to America. Where he can't believe the fashion and getting assaulted And the poor vampire's day get even worse. I felt so sorry for poor Alekzander . I laughed and laughed .
Over all I really liked these stories . They are well written and flow very easily . The characters remind me of people that I know . Especially in the infestation . I had a blast reading this book . I was finished it in an evening . I laughed and had a great time reading . So if you want a great horror book with an element of comedy mixed in. This is a great book if you love to laugh with your horror.

GOOD TUESDAY EVERYONE
Good Tuesday all , hope your week is going well. I can't believe it is September already where did the summer go. Now onto pumpkin spice lattes and my fall reading list. Today we are going to review NIGHT WALKER by Jacquelyn Frank
BOOK BLURB
From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes the final chapter in the Nightwalkers saga! As the momentous showdown with a powerful demon unfolds, a passionate encounter breaks the ultimate taboo.
Kamen is a Body walker, an ancient soul reborn in one human host after another. He’s also a prisoner of his own kind: for it was Kamen who released Apep, the deadly god who threatens the existence of their world. To atone for this grievous error, Kamen accepts an urgent mission: to convince the other nations of the Nightwalkers to set aside their centuries-old conflicts and band together. If he fails, all will be lost. And no tribe presents a greater challenge than the Wraiths, the spectral beings who are feared and despised for their lethal death touch.
Kamen makes first contact with a stunning, ghostly pale beauty named Geneviève. Part Wraith and part human, scorned as a half-breed, Viève shares the hunger for redemption—and for connection. Her scintillating touch holds the kiss of death, and yet it makes Kamen feel more alive than ever. Soon his lips are pressed against hers, sending Viève into fits of desire and forging a bond that breaches the divide between them. Now they must unite all the Nightwalkers, from Vampire and Shadow dweller to Djynns, and fast—for Apep is ready for war.
MY REVIEW
When I started this book I realized that I had jumped into the series at the tail end . So I went and read the first books in the series to get a better understanding of what was going on. The story had all the characters from the other novels , so it felt like you could follow very easily . The story is Kamen's and Genevieve's story . Kamen is a body walker and also a prisoner , because he let Apep go
He is full of guilt of what he did . He is atoning for his sin by taking on the mission of uniting all the night walkers . When he meets Genevieve a half wraith half human . Who has been shunned and ridiculed as being a half breed . They have a chemistry that can not be denied when he kisses her they can't deny what they feel for each other But now they have to survive to unite the night walker and defeat Apep.
The author has created some great characters . Kamen and Genevieve are such complex characters
Kamen is such a strong character who was the bad guy from all the other books. He is badass and I wouldn't call him evil , I would say that he was misled into doing evil things. From what I read in the first books . I hated him very much but as I read this book Kamen started to grow on me . He went from evil to a warrior. I actually started to like him as I read , he totally redeemed himself. Genevieve is a very strong female , she has been shunned by everyone . She is half wraith and half human . Thank god that her human side is the dominant side. She is attracted to Kamen and when they get together sparks fly , They are strong but also broken and together they help an heal each other. All the other characters are in this boo also and they add to the story line very nicely.
The author takes us on quite an adventure in this story. There are twists and turns and you will be cheering before the end of the book. I strongly suggest that you read the other books in the series before you read this one , so you can keep everyone straight in your mind . Its nice to have the back story of all the characters as you read this story. So you won't get confused like I was at the beginning . This is a great series by a great author that I am glad I discovered . It is well written and I was sucked in I read well into the night .
