Good morning my peeps , today I have for you books 8 and 9 in the Dragonfly Cove Dog park series.
Book 8 TEACHERS PET by David Johnson and book 9 A NEW LEASH ON LIFE by Patricia Sands.
BOOK 8 BOOK BLURB
Sadie is a bright-blonde Labrador puppy, content and happy to spend her days sleeping, eating, and playing with her seven siblings. But her world is turned upside down when she’s given to the oldest human she has ever met. Confused at first, she soon decides she’s supposed to watch out and take care of the human named Dorothy who proves to be quite a handful.
Dorothy is a sixty-six-year-old retired schoolteacher from Nashville, Tennessee, who has never been married but has nineteen children. At least, that’s what she tells everyone.Dorothy and Sadie quickly bond with each other, leaving both feeling content. Things change, though, when Dorothy receives an unexpected letter in the mail, a letter she refuses to open for over a week because it’s from Harliss Abernathy, the man who left her standing at the altar fifty years ago.
In the midst of trying to decide what to do about the letter, a young woman, Hope Rodriguez, shows up with an ulterior motive. Try as she might, Dorothy tries to point Hope in a direction that will lead her away from her seedy-looking boyfriend, not knowing she’s putting herself at risk by doing so.
Will she open the letter? What does it say?
Will Hope Rodriguez harm Dorothy?
How will Sadie help Dorothy navigate these prickly situations?
MY REVIEW
Dorothy is a retired school teacher that is another transplant to Dragonfly Cove. Who is the next person to adopt a puppy from Leslie, a beautiful little girl named Sadie. They bond quite quickly and they are both content with the little life they have. Until the day a letter shows up from a man she never thought she would hear from ever again. The man who left her at the alter so many years ago. And if that didn't make you go hmmmm enter Hope Rodriguez a young woman who well can't be trusted, you can't really trust her. Will Dorothy finally find the happiness she deserves and the friends that will be there for her through thick and thin.
Dorothy is one of these characters that you know you have met in your life. A retired teacher whose whole life was her children she has taught. She comes off as the grouchy neighbour but deep down inside she has a heart of gold. We find out that she has been through a lot of trauma when she was younger that has shaped her. We also get to see her grow and become part of a family of dog owners She handles each problem with grace even when it sets her back a bit. She is very strong and loving. Sadie is one of those puppies that know when her owner needs her and she is there for her to offer comfort but she also knows when people are there to hurt Dorothy and will protect her.
This is the book that will take you on an emotional roller coaster . It is a little longer than the other books in the series . The author has written a very emotional journey of acceptance and a second chance at romance with a dash of intrigue. The characters are well written and fit into the dog park family quite well . This one gave me all the emotions and it was such a good read couldn't put it down .
BOOK 9 BOOK BLURB

With the help of of PSA’s, Libby was able to continue being a librarian at the elementary school. Evenings and weekends were devoted to Don until it was no longer possible to care for him. Retirement gave Libby options for travel and some free time. Suddenly her son, transferred to Australia for three months, needed a big favor. Could cat-owner Libby take in a new pup for a short time until his family returned to Dragonfly Cove? Libby questions how she would ever adjust to the demands of a dog, even if it was temporary. But she cannot say no to the pleas of her grandchildren. A heartwarming story of how embracing the unexpected with an open heart can lead to remarkable discoveries. Life’s surprises often remind us that beauty lies in unpredictability, and that the best experiences often come in ways we never imagined.

This is the final story in the series and honestly one of the sweetest stories . You really get to feel what the characters are going through all the way through the story.
