Good morning my peeps , I hope you all are having a great week. Today I have for you a short story by Genevieve Mckay , PROMISE , A Christmas shorty story. This one is for all the horse girls out there.
BOOK BLURB
Elena Miller made a vow the night her daughter, Hope, died in a tragic accident. She promised to take care of Hope's beloved horse, Pixar, forever. But that isn't easy when Elena can hardly stand looking at the animal who constantly reminds her of the daughter she lost.
Now, nearly two years later, as another lonely Christmas approaches, Pixar needs Elena's help. But, maybe, it's Elena who needs a Christmas miracle to put her shattered life back together again.
MY REIVEW
Elena has had a very bad two years after her daughter was killed in a horrible accident . She vowed to take of her horse Pixar. Well in her grief has taken over and Pixar has become an after thought . Until the day she visits the barn and finds out what has been happening with Pixar. She finds that Pixar is just as sad as she is . After moving barns she comes to realize that they need each other but can she bring herself to look after the horse that brings back all the memories of her daughter . Will they be able to heal themselves as they heal each other.
This is one of those short books that will take you and actually put you through the ringer. Elena is so broken , she just can't come to terms with what happened to her daughter. She is so deep in her sorrow that she doesn't see a way out . You really just want to hug her and tell her everything will be ok . Pixar is also so broken and for a horse that brokenness comes out in back behavior. They both need to learn to trust again in themselves and in each other . They both grow and start to heal with each other . They are well written characters and yes I did fall in love with Pixar.
This is just one of those short novellas that will have you shedding a few tears and cheering as the main characters start to heal. The author does a good job bringing the angst and the love out . I read this in an hour and kind of used it as a palette cleanser between bigger books . I was pleasantly surprised and like this authors writing . So if you want a short read for a stormy afternoon check it out.
