G0OD AFTERNOONALL

Good afternoon peeps , I really hope that you are all staying cool and reading some good summer books . Today I have for you thriller by a young author. Lets check out 1,00 COLONIAL FARM ROAD  by Jeff Zimmerman.

                             BOOK BLURB

Esther Ahava Esperanza is an ex-Israeli Defense Force infantrywoman with a PTSD fueled past. Working as a ‘fixer’ for Langley, Virginia, she’s assigned with a job that is far different from all the other ones she’s done before. After assassinating an Aryan Brotherhood convict and a drug addicted prostitute, Esther is tasked with kidnapping the couple’s child and taking him under her own wing. Raising her adopted son to be a future contract killer for the CIA, Esther quickly learns that being a mother is harder than being a hitwoman. And it is true what a plethora of people say... love really can be tough!

                      MY REVIEW

Esther Esperanza is an ex military who was part of the Israeli Defense force and she is suffering from PTSD . She is a fixer and when she is tasked with an unusual  job she is tasked with taking their young son in and taking care of him . She doesn't know what is harder being an assassin for the CIA or raising a son . She quickly learns that having a son is harder then being an assassin .

When you start  a book and instantly connect with the main character is a good thing . Esther is one of those characters that you read and go wow . She is a kick butt woman but underneath all her training she is a woman and a mother who worries all the time if this will be the last time she sees her son  .  There are so many complex characters in this story . They are complex and you will love and hate them at the same time .

I have been following this young author for awhile . This is the book that I really enjoyed , the author has grown and this book kept me entertained . The characters were well written and you really start care for the main character . The book moves at a fast pace and there is a lot of action through out the book . It may be thriller in nature there is an under tone of what a mother would do to keep her son safe and loved . The author has really grown and it shows in his writing style . So if you want a kick butt heroine with a past that will have you on the edge of your seat through out the book . So check it out  a great book for your summer reading list .

WELCOME TO THURSDAY

Good morning peeps , hope you are staying cool this week and finding lots of good summer reads . Today I have book 2 in the Gates of the Underworld . RELICS OF RUIN  by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain

                           BOOK BLURB

All I want to do is get the hell out of Dodge…

In this case, ‘Dodge’ is the First Gate of the Underworld, which is like the sister city to Level One, Hell.

But it’s not like I can leave anytime soon—not when Adonis, my only friend (who’s also super hot), just got dude-napped by the absolute worst queen in the history of queens.

No, I mean it. Azrhea puts Bloody Mary to shame…

Anyhoo, even when I’m given the chance to escape and head to the Second Gate of the Underworld, I don’t take it.

Not only do I want to rescue Adonis from the clutches of She-Bitch, but I also sort of, kind of made a promise to Ereshkigal, the original ruler of the First Gate, that I’d help her reclaim her kingdom.

The only problem is Azhrea is proving really freaking difficult to kill.

And when Hades, the God of the Underworld, decides to make an entrance, I really don’t know what to think.

Hades is the ultimate definition of ‘man-perve,’ but he also seems to strangely want to help me. At least, I think he wants to help me…

He warns me that Rurik, the keeper of the Second Gate, is going to be even tougher to vanquish than Azhrea. And getting rid of Azhrea is like trying to get rid of ants.

But the biggest takeaway from my meeting with Hades? I must beware of Ares, the God of War, who occupies the Fifth Gate of the Underworld.

Right. Like I didn’t already know that.

Ares is currently keeping my sister’s soul hostage as he waits for me to make my way through the other four gates, so he can have the honor of killing me and starting a war with Olympus.

I’m really hoping I won’t give him that satisfaction…

                       MY REVIEW
Penelope is trying to rescue Adonis and get through the first gate but Azhrea will not die . It takes everything Pen has to defeat her . Not that she has enough to do Hades decides to come into the picture and warn her about Ares   Pen is trying to figure out what Hades is up to  and why does he want to help her also trying to get her only friend free so they can travel to the second gate . The life of a demigoddess will they survive the next gate keeper and will Pen figure out what Hades is up to before it is tooo late .

Penelope and Adonis are back and still fighting for their lives .  She is still struggling at the beginning with her self worth at the start of the book but man once she realizes who and what she is . Look out under world . Her powers are growing leaps and bounds daily . Adonis is well he is fighting hard trying to get out Azhrea's thrall . He is becoming over protect of Pen also . He is such a good guy .  I will admit that these two characters are really starting make me fall in love with them . They are well written and becoming very complex characters .

This is the second book in the series and starts right where book one left off . You are thrown into the action and basically fighting along with them all the way through the book . The characters are getting more and more complex. This is a fast paced story and you will be on the edge of your seat most of the time . The authors paint a great picture and the world they painted really starts to come alive through out the book. You have all these questions popping up through out the book like will Pen get through the first gate . What will happen next with Hades and Ares . Will Adonis really be safe from Azhrea . It almost feels like a great Greek mythology soap opera. So if you want a fun filled series check it out .

                       MY REVIEW

Gina is heading to a fun weekend with her girls at a book convention, where there will be books , panels and hot cover models . As they get ther Gina wasn't ready to run into her best friend who now looks like a god and the murder that just happened. When she meets Austin her world is turned upside down but in a good way . The murders have her baffled after she finds the body . Will they be able to find the killer and rekindle what they once had . Or will they be be at the mercy of a second murder . Stick around and see what happens in Peoria .

Ok this book is filled with fun loving characters that honestly have some of the same characteristics as some romance authors i know . Gina is a fun loving character and she just wants to have fun . The rest of the Boba Book club are the  funniest ladies ever .From the fanatic fan who will do anything for a basket to have dinner with her favourite author  to the others who drive Gina crazy and do a little well lets say there is just a lot of misunderstandings when it comes to the bedroom These ladies are crazy and the best of friends . Oh don't let me forget about the men of the Peoria book convention . They are so sexy and cut you just want to climb them . Underneath they are sweet and some what insecure , case in point Austin . He is built and the dream of most of the woman but deep down inside he seems to be the same little skinny boy who wanted his best friend .

When I got this book from the authors I couldn't wait to start reading it . I have never been to a book convention so I didn't know what I was into when I started reading . I couldn't believe how hysterical this book was and the characters are so lovable . You know you would have fun with these ladies .The authors combined a mystery with some zany antics of a book signing . The book is a fun fast read that had me laughing out loud through out . So check out the first book in a fun series . It will be great for your summer beach reads . Check it out

                          MY REVIEW
Mackenzie is looking for the father she never met and soon discovers the shocking truth. Her father is a demon so that makes her half demon. So that explains why she can control the shadows and when she is drawn into a shadow world that she knows nothing about . Caught in a war between rival families . She can't figure out who to trust , while hunting for the talisman that will shift the balance of power . Mackenzie must get to it first or die trying .

The characters in this book are well written and complex . Mackenzie is a young woman who wants to find out where she came from . She has always had this power to control the shadows when she is in trouble . She is a tough cookie who does some dirty things and when something goes wrong she decides to get out town . But underneath it all she is vulnerable and wanting to find a place that she belongs . The characters are so varied and and complex each one either hinders Mackenzie or help her out .

This is one of those books that once you start reading you will be up all night . The author has a way of writing that has a way of taking you to the spot and throwing you into the plot . The author mixes the occult and the weakness of humans to make the main character one you will want to protect . I would say that your teens could read this book and be ok with it . So if you want a good urban fantasy book that will have you flipping pages all night check it out.

GOOD EVENING ALL

Good evening all , been busy on the farm and almost forgot about this one . DRUID'S CURSE (book 18 in the Haven Hollows series) by Hp Mallory and J.R Rain .

                            BOOK BLURB

Something Wicked to Haven Hollow Comes...

At least, I hope it’s not wicked.

What is it? A book.

But it’s not like any book you’ve ever heard of or seen before.

First off, it’s animated, and I swear it acts like a little dog, complete with a wagging red bookmark tail.

Secondly, the only person who can read it or see any of the pictures within the ancient and worn leather binding is my thirteen-year-old son, Finn.

The book, which Finn names ‘Vellum,’ randomly shows up outside my door at Poppy’s Potions one night and begs to be let in.

As if that weren’t enough to cause the hair on the back of my neck to sit up and take notice, Vellum has an owner. And a few days later, I meet that owner.

His name is Alixandre Osmont, and he’s a traveling magician. Only, he’s a magician who really possesses magic.

Not only that but there’s something about Alixandre that seems strangely… familiar, though I’m sure I’ve never set eyes on him before. Yet, my soul doesn’t seem to agree.

Oh, and Alixandre just happens to be gorgeous with a capital G, and he’s British and has a voice that could melt glass.

But I digress.

Anyway, while constantly reminding myself I have a caring, loving, and wonderful boyfriend in Marty, I can’t help but feel guilty regarding this strange and overpowering attraction I have to another man.

And, what’s stranger still is that Alixandre seems to return my same bizarre and confusing feelings.

It’s not long before my personal life is in turmoil, and that’s when I learn Finn is in trouble.

The only person I can turn to, the only person who can help me fight off the dark powers trying to gain control of my son, is Alixandre.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, I do what any caring mother would—I go after my son and damn the consequences.

                        MY REVIEW
Welcome back to Haven Hollow, where strange things happen all the time . Poppy one day finds a book but it is not an ordinary book . It is alive well as alive as a book can get . It acts just like a puppy dog and takes a shining to Finn, Poppy's son. He and Vellum are becoming the best of friends now and he is the only one that can read the words that appear in them .When Alixandre shows up in town to search for the book. Poppy feels the connection between the two of them . Its is electric and they feel like they have met before . That throws Poppy for a loop and she wonders what could happen between her and Marty . When she has to have Alixandre help get her son back from the darkness that is starting to surround him . Will they be able to save Finn and will they understand what power Finn carries inside him .

Omg what can I say about these characters that haven't been said before.I love that Finn got a bigger part in this story , He is growing up and it is great to see him doing more . He is a bright sweet boy who loves his mom but wants to be more then just her son. Marty is back and sweet as ever . He reminds me of the all american guy who will do anything to help you out I love his bumbling innocent sometimes but over all he is a great guy . Alixandre is well he is like a breath of fresh air . He is a great guy with special powers that will help everyone out . He is mysterious also . But my favourite character is Vellum the book that is like a puppy dog . It is so sweet how it acts like a puppy and you just want to actually cuddle it .

This is one of those books you can take out and read at the beach or the park. It is funny and sweet and you can' read it in an afternoon. This is one of those fast paced books that will have you giggling all the way through. The authors have a wicked sense of humor when it comes to this series and each book gets better and better . If you want a summer beach read check out this series you will fall in love with the characters and the stories .
