Good morning peeps , its is coming to an end very fast this years summer reader round up. I have found a lot of new authors that deserve a chance with all of you. Speaking of a new author I have found another one for you to enjoy today. Larynn Ford and her book MELODY BY THE STARS
BOOK BLURB
Luther Blalock began searching for his missing wife, Lavender, with only one clue. A scent—his wife's fear mixed with the presence of an unidentified vampire.
Lavender chose, soon after they married in 1833, to become like her husband, and live forever. Her state of mind following a personal loss left her vulnerable to the older vampire's power...a vampire Luther vows to hunt down and end.
In 1934, after decades of relentless searching, Luther finds them. A song playing in the background triggers a memory for Lavender and breaks the shackles placed on her decades earlier. As Luther reaches for her, she is stripped from his arms and is gone...again.
MY REVIEW
Luther has been hunting for his wife and the only trace of her is a scent . Lavender was taken by an
older vampire after she was changed in 1833 and her husband has been hunting for her since then. When in 1934 after decades it seems that Lavender has reached out to Luther after breaking the bonds of the older vampire . Can Luther get to her before she is whisked away yet again .
Ok this is really an interesting book. The characters are well written . Luther is a man on a mission but he is also a vampire so he has had a long life. He is sensitive and kind and doesn't drink from humans . He is debonair and charming when it comes to people . He takes care of his friends that have come on the journey with him to find his Lavender. Lavender comes off as a femme fatal but she is more than a fainting violet. When she is found and confronts the vampire that stole her . She is a force to be reckoned with. She is all about business and takes control. We also get to meet Grady, Tray and Ben who come as friends and yes there are vampires .They are good friends and part of the pack that helps find Lavender . Ben and Tray are like the comic relief through out the book. they seem to always get into trouble and Grady is the trusted side kick. Each character is well written but I feel the author could of made them just a little bit more complex .
This book is set in the 1930s which is a fun era to set a vampire novel in. It seems like it is an over looked era in the vampire lore. It gives me a twilight vibe . We have vampires that don't feed on people and just take blood from animals. They eat normal and it seems like they can be out in the daytime. The author takes us on an adventure that had tears and laughs through out . Over all I really enjoyed this book and it can be read in an evening . So if you want a story of vampires . love and revenge check it out
